While trying to install Exchange 2013, with all prereqs satisfied on 2008 R2 non DC joined to a 2008 domain with one Exchange 2007 machine and 2 other 2008 DCs, setup complains about the forest not being at least 2003 native while the domain level has been raised to 2008 and is reported so. No other error is issued. The install log states:

This is an install on a new 2008 R2 machine, joined to a 2008 domain, with one Exchange 2007 std server to be decomissioned in the domain. The domain level is 2008 native and is reported so by all DCs. I believe this to be a misdetection probably caused by some value in AD - does anyone know where I could look for this? Why else would the setup report it's not "at least 2003 native" when from the AD snapins it is reported 2008 native?
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
