Greetings. After a few bumps and bruises, I finally have Exchange 2013 up and running in my development VM (all-in-one box including DC). I have gone through the steps to configure the server found at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj218640(v=exchg.150).aspx but I'm receiving errors when I attempt to perform the following:
1. Click 'SEND' button to send mail:
Error -> "Error: The message can't be sent right now. Please try again later"
2. Click 'People' tab (or the search hover div when typing an address in the To: field):
Error -> "Can't connect. Please try again later"
Disclaimer: I am not an Exchange admin or guru. I just need Exchange in my VM to develop code for, so bare with me :)
I've looked through all of the log files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging but don't see anything related to these errors, but I'm either not looking in the right place or don't know what exactly I'm looking for. My gut instinct tells me this has something to do with DNS but I really have no clue, so any advice around where to check settings/logs is greatly appreciated.
This VM is a single-server environment and has no other versions of Exchange installed. The FQDN is dc.adventureworks.com
