Outlook clients require repair after mailbox migration from Exchange 2007-2013

We are currently in the process of upgrading our company from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010.  Exchange servers are in, connected to each other and talking.  (Done by a specialist).
Now at the stage of piloting mailbox migrations and all is smooth in terms of the migration but the client experience after the migration is letting us down.

Once the migration has completed successfully, the Outlook client (2010-Sp1) does not automatically find the new email server.  If I run a repair on the Outlook profile, it finds and configures the email server successfully and asks me to restart Outlook. When I do, Outlook is in "Work Offline" mode and I have to manually click the button to bring it online then all is well.

Can anyone explain why this is occurring?  Im assuming there is meant to be a referral occurring? We have 750 mailboxes and I can't run a repair and put outlook back online for all of them!  The idea is that the migration process should be seamless.

Any Ideas?
