Using external mail sever & sending on behalf of their domain

$

Hello,

I have a new Exchange 2013 installation on a small corporate network. We us an external web and email hosting company.  We would like to continue receiving our incoming email through the external email host for SPAM, antivirus, and intrusion protection. In the past we have used the MAPI Labs mail connector to poll the external mail server for email and deliver it to our internal exchange system. Previously, outgoing email was sent via SMTP directly from the client PC. I would like it so the outgoing mail was routed through Exchange and ideally, only those with external email accounts count send outside the organization.

What I have done so far is have the external email host setup a secondary MX record on the external domain (ourserver.domain.com, which differs from their mail.domain.com). ourserver.domain.com points to our public network IP address.  I then had our internet ISP create a PTR for our IP that pointed back to ourserver.domain.com. In ECP I have send connector set to use MX records with a FQDN of ourserver.domain.com; however outgoing mail is slow to deliver and is identified as SPAM using my outlook.com personal mail.

How can I get my outgoing mail to stop getting flagged as spam?  I am still using a self signed certificate for testing and get certificate errors locally, but I do not think that is related. Am I going about this correctly?

Offline Address Book issues during Exchange 2007/2013 Coexistence

Hello All

I'm in the middle of an Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013 migration.

I thought I had finished setting up my coexistence between the two; however, it has come to my attention that clients are no longer able to download the offline address book.

Clients are using Outlook 2010 and when they try to manually download the address book they are receiving:
"Task <user> reported error (0x8004010F): 'The operation failed. An object cannot be found"

Distribution on the Ex2013 list is set for web, while Ex2007 is set for Public Folder

The Ex2007 Management tool shows the new one as the default.  Is there a way to get the Outlook clients to automatically download the Global Address List (2013) into their Outlook prior to their mailboxes being moved over?

Exchange 2010 Edge and Sophos PureMessage

Experiencing a dilemma with Exchange Edge server 2010 + Sophos PureMessage.

After installing Sophos PureMessage on Exchange Edge server, there is a significant increase in SPAMS.

I was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this issue who are in Exchange and PureMessage environment.

Sophos technical support is pretty much "zzzzzz" since they don't even mention about 3rd party technical KB.

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Having Database copy in twodiffrent DAG members in Exchange 2010

We have Site A which is hosting Exchange 2010 with DAG, 2 MB and 2 HUB/CAS servers. We also have a Site B where Exchange 2010 is there with 2 MB and 2 HUB/CAS server with DAG. Both exchange are in same AD Domain and same SMTP domain. Bu the DAG are diffrents.

Now due to some Business need teh Site A needs to be shutdown, we have to move teh users from Site A to Site B. Is there a possibility to create teh Passive copy of teh databases from Site A Mailbox server to Site B DAG, so that we can have teh migration completed successfully. Since we have a short deadline to achive this.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

I am importing PSTs that I got out of Exchange 2003 server in to Exchange 2013 SP1

Some of the import jobs are failing with the following error

FailureCode   : -2146233088

How can I increase the limit for corrupt or missing items ?

Hopping I would be able to restart the request with

I have been moving mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and was on my last batch when all the mailboxes Completed except for one which Completed With Warning.  It shows 0 bad items.

In Exchange 2010, all the mailboxes that are part of this failed batch show they are still in the Move Request state.

On the mailbox in Exchange 2013 Migration that shows Completed with Warning, the following details are provided:

Moving from 2010 to 2013 - From Relay to Primary Exchange Server

So all the users have been migrated and everything is flowing good from 2010 to 2013.

Could you kindly walk me through as to what would be best solution to retire exchange 2010 and make the 2013 as primary exchange server.

Currently we are using 2010 as relay because of the cross-forest migration. Now that all users are on ForestB.com (shared namespace Domain.com) we want to shutdown the 2010 exchange server and have exchange 2013 be the Authenticated Exchange server.

One thought I had in mind is.

Stop the 2010 exchange services, move the 2010 internal IP to exchange 2013 and then switch the exchange 2013 to "Authoritative domain", that sounds all to easy but that's pretty much it I think. ?

I could change the dns for the Domain.com to point to new exchange server "external IP" but then I have to mess around with all the firewalls and some apps that might used the IP instead of FQDN...

Let me know what would be best solution

Migrate Distribution Lists From Old To New Environment

Our company has been aquired. We are migrating all mailboxes to the new company's exchange environment. We have exported all distribution lists with members into a CSV file. Question now, how do we get them imported into the new environment? We are struggling to find a script that will do this. Please advise.

Both environments are Exchange 2010 and there is no trust in place.

Exchange 2013 SP1 - Unable to test Mapi-over-HTTP Outlook Connectivity

I've configured MAPI over HTTP in my testing environment. It is working fine. But i'm unable to test this configuration using the Powershell Test-OutlookConnectivity CMDlet.

Outlook is working fine and is using MAPI over HTTP, so i'm pretty sure there are no configuration problems. But the CMD-let gives me the following output:

Hi everyone, I have a mail system Exchange 2007 SP1 CAS and HUB with 3 servers.

The mailboxes are on a Windows Server 2008 Failover Cluster.

Domain controllers are Windows Server 2003 SP2

I have to update the mail system with Service Pack 3 and RU13.

Does anyone can tell me the procedure? where I have to start by the CAS / HUB or cluster mailboxes?

How do I update the cluster of mailboxes, the resources on the active node and update it, or liability?

There's something I have to take intoaccount before upgrading?

I can upgrade directly to SP3? or I have to upgrade before SP2?  thank you very much

Exchange Server 2013 SPS1 can't install CU5 on ReFS volume

Has anyone got IMAP to work in a Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2007 coexistence environment?

$

We are currently upgrading our Exchange environment to 2013 from 2007. Our 2007 Exchange is a multi-role and our 2013 is two servers - a CAS role and MBX role. So far, following the deployment guide, we have most everything working and have begun moving mailboxes. However, we can not get IMAP to work. I have started the IMAP services on both the CAS and MBX servers and assigned IMAP to our UC certificate. Checking get-imapsettings on our 2013 CAS server the X509CertificateName does match our UC certificate name on our 2013 CAS. Under ECP > Servers > CAS - I have authentication for IMAP set to Secure TLS connection and everything else as default. When I run the Microsoft Remote Connectivity analyzer using a account that we have migrated to 2013 I get the following error below. It successfully resolves the host name we use for Exchange, the port 993, and shows a valid certificate. Any ideas what I may be missing for IMAP to work. OWA and other services seem to be working just fine. Is there anything manual I need to do with the imap settings for internal/external urls, etc. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have spent 3 days trying to diagnose the problem.

I am having an issue after deploying Lync 2013 into the same Forest/Domain where Exchange 2013 is deployed. Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013 both work fine, however, when I am in the Exchange 2013 Admin Center and I edit either a Group or a Resource, I receive the following warning:

Hi,

I found only articles saying to set the Logging to minimum and check some event viewers - but all for older versions.

exchange 2010 to 2013 mailbox migration, 2013 server doesnt resolve!

$

Hi all, i've had a bit of a head scratcher for a few days!

I’ve got all the way through to having the my existing exchange 2010 cas and mailbox servers running alongside the new exchange 2013 cas and mailbox servers.

my problem seems to be somewhere in the transport or dns between the two… its very odd!

If i create a test mailbox on 2010 and open within outlook (using online mode), it still resolves fine to the old 2010 environment, even though i have now modified the DNS records to point at the new 2013 servers.

if i then migrate that mailbox, and open it within outlook, again, no problem, and when viewing the connection status you can see it connected via the new GUID format.

If i then try either creating a brand new mailbox from scratch on 2013, or deleting the existing migrated mailbox profile, and recreating manually to ensure the process, the new 2013 cas server will not resolve, but the old 2010 will.

for example typing in 2013cas.domain.local does not resolve, however if i then type in 2010cas.domain.local, it does resolve it to 2013cas.domain.local! i might also add at this point it doesnt resolve it to the cas server but the new mailbox server, but this i believe to be correct.

i cant for the life of me work out why this is. i’ve gone back through all settings again, checked all permissions, virtual directories, URLs, DNS, its got to be something simple, but i am fresh out of ideas!

There was one other thing which I cant for the life of me remember what cmdlet I ran, but it threw up an error about not finding an object or unable to create an object for the mailbox server in the directory… is there a command i can run to check this also?

Sorry for so much here, i really dont know where to turn as everything else tests perfectly!

Exchange 2013 SSL Certificate doesnt show in Exchange admin console, only in MMC snapin

$

Oh how I love certificates...

I've imported the cert as a .CRT with no errors from the exchange console.

I've also (alternately) imported the cert as a PFX from the MMC plugin as the "computer" local account.

Regardless of which way I import the cert; in the MMC and the Exchange admin console, I still see three Exchange related certs.

But only in the MMC do I see the new cert I've imported. (I've also tested this wildcard cert on other hosts)

I've rebooted to no effect.

Any thoughts or assistance appreciated.
