Better uninstall and reinstall or add new server and move organization to new server?

Hi there!

I adopted an existing environment with an unfinished configuration of Exchange 2013 on a domain controller. I tried to finish it, but still encounter issues, which make me believe the initial installation wasn't done properly.

What would be the best approach in this case: uninstall the existing Exchange organization and reinstall it on a new server, or install it on a new server, have all settings and mailboxes moved to the new server, and decommission the old exchange?

The mailboxes are not being used yet, so availability or settings are not an issue in this case.

Thanks!

Microsoft Exchange Migration Workflow service terminated unexpectedly

I started getting the following message after a reboot last night.  I again rebooted the server and continue to get the message about once a minute. I see the service starting and stopping.  I am actively migrating mailboxes, but this is appearing on the passive DAG database node. Thoughts?

Change WIPE confirmation body mail

Hello,

i would  appreciate help  on this topic.

Basically i have 2 options:

- remove confirmation mail (preferred way=

- change confirmation mail (look down what will be removed)

After successful wipe info goes to user who initialized wipe and customer.

This is the mail:

The remote device wipe completed successfully.

The remote device wipe initiated on 11/24/2014 14:05:51 is complete. Device type: Android Device ID: android1384992007899

Note: To sync with the server, you must remove this partnership from the list of mobile devices in Outlook Web App.

Otherwise, for security purposes, your mobile device will continue wiping data if you try to sync again.

I have tried with transport rules, but mail ends up in sent items of the person whose device is being wiped.

Thanks and kind regards,Ivica

Slow mailbox-move Exchange 2007 - Exchange 2013 - High CPu

Hello,

i am doing a mailbox move of 140 GB from exchange 2007 (sbs2008) to exchange 2013.

This move is very slow (20 GB is 5,5 Hours).

I can see high cpu-usage on the sbs2008-server for store.exe (between 80-100 %).

What can i do to speed up this process for now and in future migrations like this?

Thx

and even if we install the 1st role i.e. MBX in second role i.e. CAS it prompt for ORG name which it should not ask ideally as we have already have MBX role installed with org name in it.

but if we try again and again some time it works and it doenot prompt for the same.

2007 to 2013 migration - new namespace

$

Hi,

I'm planning an Exchange 2007 migration to 2013 and I'm trying to wrap my head around co-existence scenarios. Our 2007 environment uses the FQDNwww.companyemail.com for OWA (etc) and I'd like to have our 2013 environment use something more standard like webmail.company.com

The MS documentation I've seen deals with retaining/reusing the original FQDN, but can I do a co-existence scenario and introduce a new namespace? Any high-level pointers or advice would be great.

Firewall : OFF

Exchange roles are on separate three  servers : CAS - MAILBOX - HUB.

Configuration Server Exchange 2013 :

This environment is on a closed network unable to reach internet.

I have try to restart the Replication service, but it didn't worked.

I've searched a lot but i can't find any information to help me. The mailbox stays in queue....

Anyone ever had this issue?

Thanks you and have a nice day.

Failure installing SP3 on Exchange 2010

Good evening,

Following TechNet closely I'm currently in the process of moving my exchange 2010 environment to 2013.  I have single exchange server on a SBS 2011 box.  Sadly I've failed at the first hurdle installing SP3, the result is that my Exchange 2010 is refusing all client connections.

During the SP3 install I passed all prerequisites but during the actual upgrade it failed at the Hub Transport Role with the following error:

Hello,

My customer is trying to configure OAuth authentication between his on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online organizations. He follows the steps in this article.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn594521(v=exchg.150).aspx

He got stuck in Step 1 after running the following command. (He replaced <> with his onmicrosoft.com domain.)

New-AuthServer -Name "WindowsAzureACS" -AuthMetadataUrl https://accounts.accesscontrol.windows.net/<your verified domain>/metadata/json/1

The received error was :

Cannot acquire auth metadata document from 'https://accounts.accesscontrol.windows.net/<domain>/metadata/json/1"

Any clue what went wrong, and how to fix it?

Thank you very much for all the help.

Exchange2007&2013 coexistence, with different Exchange 2007 CAS authentication settings

$
0
0

During an Exchange 2013 and Exchange 2007 coexistence scenario, there are 2 types of Exchange 2007 CAS servers; one set of Exchange 2007 CAS servers serving OWA for internal clients with Forms based authentication behind an internal reverse proxy requiring forms based authentication and Windows Credentials, second set of Exchange 2007 CAS servers serving OWA and ActiveSync for external clients with Windows Integrated Authentication behind a DMZ located reverse proxy requiring forms based authentication and pre-authentication using SecureID.

When introducing Exchange 2013 CAS servers, plan is to to have 2 IPs and 2 web sites on the Exchange 2013 CAS, each handling authentication of OWA differently depending on if the originating traffic is external or internal, so removing the internal reverse proxy - though keeping the external reverse proxy with pre-authentication. Now, how do I ensure that the proxied (AutoD, EWS) and redirected (OWA) traffic from Exchange CAS 2013 to 2007 is sent to the applicable Exchange 2007 CAS server (i.e. depending on whether traffic is originating externally or internally). As Exchange 2013 doesn’t know the difference of IIS authentication settings of the Exchange 2007 CAS servers, users might occationally get a authentication pop up.

Thanks

I know it must be simple, but after installation of Exchange Server 2013 on Server 2012 R2 and getting the "successful" installation message, I can't find the server. It was not problem on Server 2008 and Exchange 2010.

Any ideas as to where I should go to look for Exchange?  I can't even setup mailboxes???!!!

I really am lost on this one.

Removal of failed mailbox migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013

Tried test migration of a single mailbox from Exch 2010 to 2013 which failed and so it was cancelled. When I now open the migration section on the EAC I get this error:

The mailbox of user Migration.8f3e7716-2011-43e4-96b1-aba62d229136@nnnnnnn that is located on a server that is running version 14 can't be opened on a server that is running version 15.

However I can't find any other evidence of this mailbox to delete or cancel it on either the 2010 or 2013 instance - can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thx

Setting up AnywhereAccess behind ARR IIS Server

$

I have an IIS ARR server which points back to my exchange server. OWA and ECP work perfectly fine.

I have set it up with the following guide:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/07/19/reverse-proxy-for-exchange-server-2013-using-iis-arr-part-1.aspx

The only thing that is not working is Outlook connectivity (both internally and externally).

I get the following error message on the MS connectivity test:

--------------

RPC Proxy can't be pinged.

Additional Details
An unexpected network-level exception was encountered. Exception details:
Message: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.Type: Microsoft.Exchange.Tools.ExRca.Extensions.MapiTransportException

--------------

I tested the exchange server direct (i.e. without ARR) and it works as expected. I think it has something to do with the credentials not being passed between ARR and the exchange server because if I am on the local network, I can go straight to the exchange server / rpc (via https://servername/rpc) and it prompts for credentials once and gives me a blank page (expected) whereas if I go via ARR it prompts for credentials but doesn't accept them (just prompts again and again and again).

Anyone manage to fix this issue?

Thanks.

Coexistence Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013

$

Hi all, I have an Exchange 2010 With These características

AD Site A
---------
2 DAG Servers for mailboxes
2 Servers Client Access and Hub Transport in Microsoft NLB
2 Domain Controllers Windows Server 2008 R2

I want to upgrade to Exchange 2013 but in another Site, Site B. When the migration is complete, the mail system will only be in Site B.

The connection Between Site A and Site B is a reliable connection.

-----------------

My my question is how to make the coexistence between the two systems, while all mailboxes are migrated.

1. where users who are still in Exchange 2010 connect? How to configure redirection
2. Mail flow as configured between Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 servers?

There are some guides the detail of how to do the coexistence?
