Room Finder not working with Address Book Policies

$

Hi,

I have an issue with Room Finder and Address Book Policies whereby when a mailbox user is apart of an ABP they cannot see any rooms within the room finder in Outlook. They can however see their organisations rooms in the address book (which is the intended outcome of using ABPs)
If the user is part of the default GAL (no ABP) then all roomlists can be seen in room finder making me suspect that the problem is with the ABP

I came across an article which is very similar to the problem that I am encountering however I am already using the suggested fix (using recipient filters) -

Background to configuration

We have a multi tenant exchange 2013 environment where each tenant is segmented from other tenants by the use of address book policies.

Each tenant have been set-up using the following cmdlets:

New-GlobalAddressList -Name "TenantName - GAL" -ConditionalCustomAttribute15 "ABC" -IncludedRecipients MailboxUsers -RecipientContainer "Path/to/OU
New-AddressList -Name "TenantName - All Rooms" -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute15 -eq 'ABC') -and (RecipientDisplayType -eq 'ConferenceRoomMailbox')" -RecipientContainer "Path/to/OU
New-AddressList -Name "TenantName - All Users" -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute15 -eq 'ABC') -and (ObjectClass -eq 'User')" -RecipientContainer "Path/to/OU
New-AddressList -Name "TenantName - All Contacts" -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute15 -eq 'ABC) -and (ObjectClass -eq 'Contact')" -RecipientContainer "Path/to/OU
New-AddressList -Name "TenantName - All Groups" -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute15 -eq 'ABC') -and (ObjectClass -eq 'Group')" -RecipientContainer "Path/to/OU
New-OfflineAddressBook -Name "TenantName" -AddressLists "TenantName - GAL"
New-AddressBookPolicy -Name "TenantName" -AddressLists "TenantName - All Users", "TenantName - All Contacts", "TenantName - All Groups" -GlobalAddressList "TenantName - GAL" -OfflineAddressBook "TenantName" -RoomList "TenantName - All Rooms"

As you can see each address list is populated by custom attribute 15 corresponding to the tenants code (of local significance) and the OU that the object resides in.

N.B. I have rebuilt my outlook profile, switched to non-cached mode to no avail

To reiterate, the ABP is working great apart from this room finder feature issue, each tenant can only see their rooms in their address book just not in the room finder.

I have tried to build distribution group roomlists and set the custom attribute and OU to test but this didn't work as I'm aware you can only have address lists in the set-addressbookpolicy -roomlist cmdlet parameter, not distribution groups

Switching from external Email server to Exchange, Understanding Dis-Joint, and a little help please

I'm pretty new at installing exchange myself and have never done Exchange 2013

While going through the install help online I came across disjointed domains. I think I'm over thinking this but here is what I have and what I want to do. Any other tips would be great as well.

Customer currently has a domain, internal dns and email through GoDaddy. Lets call it smallschool.com

Internally they have a new Active Directory (2012) and the domain is in.smallschool.com. There is no external DNS except GoDaddy. I plan to use that (if that's ok).

I have built a Hyper-V for Exchange 2013 and have installed pre-requisites.

My Current Question are...

Do I need to set up dis-joint dns suffix and modify the msds-allowdnssuffix attribute? I have the instructions, I just don't know if this is a must or not with the domain names like they are.

Am I going to run into any trouble switching GoDaddy's email to Exchange Server? Any Tips?

Thank You,

Hi All,

I am  in the process of changing primary domain email in my organization   . We use active sync and ldap throughout our network. Is there anything that I should take care of before doing the change ?

I would also like if someone could help me out with the steps that I need to follow for the change.

Thanks

Can't login to ECP. Redirects to OWA then HTTP 500 Error

Was working. Now not.

When I try to login via any address; localhost, mail.server.com, servername, with or without ?ExchClientVer=15 makes no difference. Soon as the login page loads it chances to /owa and attempting to login everytime gives a 500 error.

Googled and there's a million things I can see to try. No fucking clue what is the right thing to do. This is a new install, shouldn't be any issues but from what I can see hundreds of people the same BS.

Certificate revoked after applying CU7. Im totally dead in the water...hope someone can help...

hi all,

So today, like an idiot, I decided to follow Microsofts advice which states that all customers with Exchange 2013 SP1 should update to CU7. So I did, and now my whole organization in dead. Now when I try to access OWA or even my desktop Outlook I get an error that the servers certificate is revoked. Im poking around IIS, but don't know it well enough to know what to do. When I test the connection settings on the default website or the OWA site I get this -

The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that <domain>\<computer_name>$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again.

My Echange Server self sighned certificate is valid, my owa certificate is valid. Everything was fine until I ran CU7.

I don't know IIS that well, and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Exchange 2013 Migration from Exchange 2007 - Certificate not trusted errors

$

I proceeded to stand up my new Exchange 2013 CAS and Mailbox servers. Before having a chance to deploy SSL certs and configure the name space. People automatically started to receive SSL errors for the new servers. Autodiscovery is still pointed at the 2007 servers and does not find the new servers on Outlook "Test Email AutoConfiguration" and no one has been moved to the new Mailbox server. I also changed the Default Offline Address-book back to the 2007 servers. What causes people to authenticate to the new CAS servers, prompting with SSL errors?

Thanks in advance

Namespace planning multiple AD sites

Hi,

I have been googling for an answer to our Exchange 2013 setup but until not I haven't been able to find a satisfactory solution. We are in the process of migrating from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. We have 20 AD sites with 23 Exchange 2010 servers and 4 Exchange 2013.

HQ:
2x CAS, HUB (2010)
2x MBX in a DAG (2010)

2x CAS (2013)
2x HUB, MBX in a DAG (2013)
internal and external namespace: webmail.ourextdomain.com
wildcard certificate: *.ourextdomain.com
split-brain DNS

SITE 1 through 19:
1x CAS, HUB, MBX (2010)

Only the server at HQ are internet facing, all the external mail flows through HQ.

What currently isn't real clear to me; what namespace do I use for the other 19 sites? Do I use the same FQDN as for HQ, create the required DNS records and rely on the DNS feature "netmask ordering"? Or do I have to use a separate FQDN for every site for the internal and external namespace?

The only threads, technet articles and exchange pro articles I can find are regarding site resiliency. None of the articles/blogs/etc I found go any deeper into a multi AD site Exchange 2013 deployment.

Any clues and/or pointers in the right direction and/or the "solution" are very welcome!

Transport Mailbox Delivery service does not auto start after CU7

I now have to start this manually after installing CU7. I have a Warning event 7004 stating that modules are taking too long to start. I tried to make this service delayed start, but that made things worse. Is this a known problem? I don't find anything in a search...

Unable to update Exchange 2013 from CU5 to CU7

I've tried unsuccessfully to update my Exchange from CU5 to CU7.

There is only one multi-roled server and whilst PrepSchema, PrepAD and PrepDomain all successfully finish, when it comes to the actual install, it fails on the pre-requisite checks without much insight into why.

I've tried running the installer from PS, cmd, elevated cmd, after reboot, after windows updates, etc but am unable to pass the pre-req checks. Checking the exchange install logs:

Has anyone encountered this before? Or would anyone be able to point me to some more detailed logs?

Exchange 2013 CU6

I need to change the log file location for 70 DBs. I have a Powershell command to do so, however I keep getting prompted for the Confirmation. I can't suppress it for my command, nor just a simple one DB command.

This is what I am running:

Move-DatabasePath -Identity MDB37 -LogFolderPath m:\databases\mailbox\MDB37 -ConfigurationOnly -Confirm:$False

This is what I get:

Confirm
This operation will skip the safety check and make the change to Active Directory directly. Do you want to continue?

Upgrade EDGE from 2010 to 2013

Hey guys,

does anoyone have a suitable update process for upgrading EDGE 2010 to EDGE 2013? I have two EGDE 2010 Servers in the DMZ. My thoughts are to install two new EDGE 2013 servers, then to use ExportEdgeConfig.ps1 on both 2010 Servers and to import settings to the new servers. After that, I would create to new edge subcriptions. I already have inbound and send connector. So which command should I run?

New-EdgeSubscription -FileName C:\Edge.xml -Site "My-Site" -CreateInternetSendConnector $false - CreateInboundSendConnector $false ?

I hardly find any information about the upgrade process.

Woul be nice, if anyone has experiences in that case.

Thanks

Failure installing SP3 on Exchange 2010

Good evening,

Following TechNet closely I'm currently in the process of moving my exchange 2010 environment to 2013.  I have single exchange server on a SBS 2011 box.  Sadly I've failed at the first hurdle installing SP3, the result is that my Exchange 2010 is refusing all client connections.

During the SP3 install I passed all prerequisites but during the actual upgrade it failed at the Hub Transport Role with the following error:

I've tried to re-register exppw.dll following instructions in the TechNet forums but this hasn't helped to restore functionality or complete the SP3 installation.  Any guidance would be most appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Can't migrate Public Folders from Exchange 2010 to 2013

I'm following the procedure as per this Microsoft article:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx

However at the New-PublicFolderMigrationRequest step (step 5 - migrate Exchange 2010 folders)  I'm getting the error at bottom.  Anybody know what could be causing this?  It certainly seems to be able to access ATLAS.  I've tried using atlas.es.tv, tried using just the name of the PF DB, nothing works.

Exchange 2013 SSL Certs

My exchange Servers have lost all SSL Certs, We are in testing so we are just using self signed certs, My first exchange server is giving me error on the WEB Management Service and wont allow it to start, the error i find is

Microsoft Exchange could not load the certificate with thumbprint of E53D989B8A448375E903A0AB7CCC823A42B0F076 from the personal store on the local computer. This certificate was configured for authentication with other Exchange servers. Mail flow to other Exchange servers could be affected by this error. If the certificate with this thumbprint still exists in the personal store, run Enable-ExchangeCertificate E53D989B8A448375E903A0AB7CCC823A42B0F076 -Services SMTP to resolve the issue. If the certificate does not exist in the personal store, restore it from backup by using the Import-ExchangeCertificate cmdlet, or create a new certificate for the FQDN or the server enabled for SMTP by running the following command: New-ExchangeCertificate -DomainName serverfqdn -Services SMTP. Meanwhile, the certificate with thumbprint 0186F48794A78EA5E7CE3F9351B3E394D1AF63A7 is being used. I have recreated self signed certs in the EAC with the server FQDN as well as the externam FQDN, but this did not solve my issue, I am very new to exchange and am learing as i go so any help with this issue would be much appriciated.

Thanks

we will be coexisting with our existing Exchange 2007 server for now.

if its best to change ports kindly advise on how to do this?

is it possible to remove roll back the schema for re-install an earlier version of exchange

Hi,

I have an 2007 test environment and recently upgraded to sp3.  I would like to test the upgrade to the latest version (2013) of exchange from an earlier version of 2007.  the test environment includes shared active directory environment with others, so I can't rebuild that.  is it possible to remove exchange completely from the domain and roll back the schema to an earlier point, so I can rebuild my exchange from scratch?  any references is appreciated...

thanks,
