Hi everyone,

Need some help here.  Been trying to install Exchange 2013 to coexist with our live Exchange 2010 environment and was having issues with the mailbox hub transport role.  Been trying to uninstall exchange to try again and come up with the following error.  Any help would be appreciated.

Error:

Hello,

I have a single server Exchange 2013 installation on Windows Server 2012.  I need to virtualize this server onto new hardware using Hyper-V and VMM.  Could someone please give me guidance as too the best way to accomplish this.  Somewhere I am doing something wrong.  I tried Disk2VHD but when I created a new VM and added this vhd the virtual machine would not start.  When trying both online and offline P2V within VMM the process fails along the way.

Someone please point me in the right direction as I am under the gun to get this migration done.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Cannot install Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2013

I am trying my best, worked day and night. Here's this.. I setup the server, download the roles and features (Active Directory and DNS Server), and even setup Active Directory and domain controller, created a user account, and then headed for Exchange 2013 installation. I did the PowerShell downloading the features, then did Command Prompt Setup /Organization Name: organization name /Prepare AD /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms. Yet it showed this message...

"Unable to copy files from D:\Setup\ServerRoles\Common\res\SetupClose.png to C:\Windows\Temp\ExchangeSetup\res\SetupClose.png.  Verify that you have enough disk space, access to the complete exchange install files and adequate permissions on the server to install Exchange."

Even when I install from Setup.exe, yet it shows the message. Now I want to know, is it me or is it that and why and what??

Building a Hosted Exchange Internally for FOPE

Can't seem to find the Exchange 2010 forums.

I'm looking to upgrade to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003 SP2. In this environment we have AD 2003 and Exchange 2003 SP2. To get started I'll be installing Exchange 2010 on W2K8 servers and adding Forefront in addition to using my existing Ironport devices. To this point I also have some dated encryption devices which need replacing. What I'm considering is building an INTERNAL environment similar to FOPE without having to subscribe to a cloud hosted service provider. Anyone have any best practices which speak to this set up? This company will NOT consider using the cloud therefore aside from purchasing new encryption devices I'm wondering what challenges are in store for trying to manage everything in house.

Personal feelings of how "hard" or "complicated" aside I simply want specifics. Case studies would be fine, if available. Let me know as I'm more than happy to elaborate in any way possible.

Install Exchange 2013 CU2 in a lab & ignore hybrid deployment?

$

We have an existing hybrid deployment of Exchange 2010 SP3 on prem, and took a backup of a production DC to create our new lab.

So, on our lab, I am unable to run prepareschema as it's seeing the hybrid bits in the AD.

"A hybrid deployment with Office 365 has been detected.  Please ensure that you are running setup with the /TenantOrganizationConfig switch. "

The lab is isolated from production, so I was wanting to know what attributes I need to delete from my configuration using ADSI Edit?

I have already cleared out the "Hybrid Deployment" stuff under Configuration/Services/Microsoft Exchange/Organization/Hybrid Deployment...

Thanks

Karl

PST Capture 2.0 import to O365 extremely slow

$

I have PST Capture x64 installed and am importing archive PSTs into users' In-place Archive' rather than their normal mailbox.

The first batch of about 8GB (total) all imported without error and in a reasonable timeframe.

The second batch is about 43GB (total) it's been running, without error, for the better part of a week and has only uploaded 4GB.

I have a solid 2Mbit upload to the Internet. Every time I spot check outbound traffic on the PST capture host it is between 125 and 175Kbit/sec--And a portion of that is my remote desktop connection.

I've seen references to http://speedtest.microsoftonline.com/ to the Microsoft Online datacenter, but it has been decommissioned.

Any idea what might be going on?

Do Mailbox permissions change after moving from 2007?

$

After moving mailboxs from 2007 to 2010 some rights users had are gone. Like the right for user B to send as user A.

"You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you're sending on behalf of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk."

Do these all need to be reset up?

Exchange Attributes in AD for Office 365

$

Hello,

I posted this in the Office 365 forum and was told it should be posted here.  We are running Office 365 E1 Standard with on Prem AD and Dirsync running.  We've never had on prem Exchange.

We are running into some issues with being able to control Office 365 (Exchange Online) because our on premise Active Directory schema has not been populated with Exchange attributes.  We've never had Exchange on premise.  There have been several posts in the community about running setup /PrepareAD from the Exchange media to extend the AD Schema to include the attributes.  I wanted to see if there are any best practices for doing this.  Is it best to do this using Exchange 2010 or 2013 media?  We haven't been upgraded to the latest release of Office365.  Do we need to make any adjustments to Dirsync after we extend the schema?

Our Forest and Domain functional levels are Windows Server 2008.  We have a very basic AD environment in that we have 1 domain with two domain controllers (two sites).  We don't have any third party applications that integrate with AD.  We won't ever run Exchange on premise, but we would like to be able to set some Exchange attributes on AD objects and sync them to Office 365.

Thanks in advance.

Exchange 2013 Migration Issues - extremely slow

I am in the midst of a 2007 to 2013 exchange migration.  Everything was working great and we have been running concurrently since CU1 was released.  We did several practice migrations and had no issue.  We start our final migration this weekend, and the migration goes south.  Now I queue up a group of mailboxes, and it takes an extremely long time to finish, and I have log files filled with indexing error and replication service errors, to which I can find nothing on google.  I try to tweak settings but I am afraid im going to do more harm than good.  It seems like only one mailbox is actively moving 1 mailbox at a time,  even tho 20 are "actively syncing".  One error log event that concerns me the most is this one :

I currently have a job running to migrate 7 users with large mailboxes.  This error appears 6 times every 15-20 minutes.  It seems that there is a collision, then the mailbox goes into some sort of time out period, and try again.    I've googled this error and tried the exchange 2010 fixes but no luck.

Thanks!

Add new domain in Exchange 2007 and forward old domain emails to new domain

$

Dear All,

we have Exchange 2007 running with abc.com domain and my organization has purchased new company xyz.com. The officials decided to move our all email communication with new company xyz.com and will also keep our old domain abc.com for some time.

The plan is after moving new domain xyz.com all email that will be received on old domain abc.com will be forwarded to new domain xyz.com.

Kindly suggest what will be the best practice to accomplish this task as I have read that add new domain in accepted domain and set email address policy, but how the email will be forwarded after changing in MX and DNS record on new domain.

Please suggest best solution.

Exchange server 2013 : Error during installation of Mail box role...

I tried to install exchange server 2013 on a server with windows server 2012. This server is a part of a domain but it is not domain controller. The domain controller server is based on Windows server 2012, too. Meanwhile, this Exchange server is the only one.

After readiness check, during installation of Mailbox Role, I've got below error and it didn't continue to finish setup without any further information.

Please advise me how to relsove it.

Hi All,

Getting extremely frustrated now with a new Exchange 2013 installation on a Windows Server 2012 VM...

After having a lot of problems with the installation (didn't uninstall visual c++ which caused failure, then needed to delete the AD Microsoft Exchange System Objects group due to permission failures, etc) I've now got a fully installed Exchange server. Still, now I cannot figure out how to fix my next problem - Accessing the EAC/ECP.

I've searched every possible web guide/forum thread and the only one which is the same issue I'm having is this one: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/89c42771-78c9-4d94-88e5-557320eccc71

Unfortunately, as you can see in that thread, it is still unresolved.

Current Issue: trying to access https://localhost/ecp (or any other variation) returns a 404 Not Found.

The error page points the physical path to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ecp however that folder does not exist. I have tried manually changing the IIS site (Exchange Back End) to point its physical path to C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\ecp which seems to be valid, however it doesn't work...

Not sure what else to do... HELP!

Exchange 2003-2013 migration with dual mail delivery

Hello,

I have the following setup:

new domain: test.local

complete new domain with new user accounts has contact with the old via trust relationship.

old domain: company.local

Has 2003 Server OS and Exchange 2003 installed on it.

Our It manager wants to setup a way that all mail is deliverd to the old and the new mail server.

The already existing mail will be imported via a tool or simply exporting via pst.

The reason they want this that they want to be able to fall backup to the old exchange if something goes wrong.

And to be able to migrate user account per account (small company) and see if anything goes otherwise wrong.

Is this possible and without downtime and other issues?

Kind regards

Jo
