Single Mailbox Move to 2013 Fails with Job Hasnt Made Progress Since Error

$

I migrated from 2010 to 2013 and only one mailbox fails to move.  I can move it within the 2010 mailbox databases but I cannot get it to migrate to a 2013 database.  The migration takes a loong time to move the 500MB mailbox and eventually will fail with an error stating the following

"This job hasn't made progress since {date / time}.  I have tried to move it several times and it fails with the same error each time.  All other mailboxes in the entire environment have been successful with no issues.  I moved it to another 2010 mailbox database with no issues but the 2013 move failed again afterwards.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

Exchange 2010 Server in Resource Forest Migration to User Forest as Exchange 2013

Hi,

I am working on the planning to achieve the cross forest migration for exchange 2010 with an upgrade to 2013.

in my environment Exchange 2010 is deployed in Resource forest and all the mailboxes are linked with their users in user forest.

now problem is how to get this migration done and how these linked mailboxes will be connected to their users in user forest after migration.

need food for thought...

Exchange 2013 Public Folder Migration fails - A large item was encountered: Item (IPM.Note)

I am working on a on premise Exchange 2010 to 2013 migration (mailboxes are migrated) with a large public folder database (176GB).  The old server had a 5MB limit on PF attachment sizes, however, some older folders and some newer ones did not have a limit applied and has 15MB+ attachments.

After following the TechNet article to migration PF folders (have done this many times in the past without issues), the PF migration fails.  I have included the output from Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequest | Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequestStatistics -IncludeReport | FL below.  I have verified all connectors are set over 30MB, the attachment size limit on the old public folder has now been removed and set to unlimited (after the PF migration started).

I would like to know if there is a way to increase the attachment sizes on the PF migration.  I have found there are limits when moving to O365, but can't seem to find too much information on premise.

All attachments need to be moved.  I do not want to set the largeitemlimit and not migrate these attachments.

What can be done to increase the attachment limit on the on premise Exchange or force the migration to copy these large items?  Again removing them or manually migrating them is not really an option.

Update Exchange 2013 CU6 to CU7 - do i need to uninstall CU6 Interim updates?

Does this update need to be uninstalled prior to installing CU7?

The Exchange organization does not support this version of exchange - EXCHANGE 2010 on 2008 R2

Hi,

I am currently trying to install 2010 exchange on 2008 R2 after an unsuccessful run with 2013 install.

I am getting this error with the readiness checks.

I have uninstalled 2013 exchange and removed the folders in /Program Files but it seems that it is still picking up the 2013 install.

Is there something in AD that i need to delete so it forgets about 2013?

Default Folders Policy/Items retention period not respected ?

Hello,

We have Exchange Server 2007 SP3 and we've set up a default folders policy to erase all mailbox content older than 31 days.

However in three mailboxes we've sampled this policy isn't properly applied : the mailboxes had mails newer than 31 days deleted ( some 20 days, some 28 days, mine had only 14 days old mails !

Can you please explain to me why this is happening?

Exchange 2013 CU8 upgrade - Setup problem

Hello everybody,

I'm upgrading from Exchange CU7 to CU8, I got a DAG with two servers.

I did an upgrade friday of the first server of the DAG : no problem, it works well.

I tried to upgrade my second server this morning and I'm blocked during the installation : "Step 8 of 17 : Languages", it's at 0% for about 1h now.

What could be the problem and the step to do in order to fix this ? Or have I just to wait ?

Thanks,

Hi

A newly installed Exchange 2013 Server (Mailbox and Client Access roles) shows every 5 minutes the event id's 16025 and 205 in the eventlog.

Both events are shown twice at the same time. First 205 then 16025 and again 205 and 16025.

Level: Error
Id 205 - Source: MSExchange Common
Id 16025 - Source: MSExchangeFrontEndTransport

Both have exactly the same description:

Get-NetworkConnectionInfo shows the following results:

Mailflow is working, I would like to get rid of these error events.

Any suggestions?

How to implement DMARC policy in Exchange Server as a recipient

Hi,

Our company has Exchange server and we want to implement DMARC as a receiver. As below link says receiver like mailbox provider should implement DMARC themselves, we use our company server as mail server so we don't even know whether DMARC is implemented as a receiver. Please let me know how can I implement DMARC in our Exchange server.

Error moving mailboxes - MigrationTransientException hr=0x80004005

$

We have an odd issue when trying to move mailboxes to Databases with Exchange 2013 Build 847.32 on all servers affected.

We have 2013 successfully deployed within the UK (3 servers, with a DAG) we are looking to deploy an additional 2 servers in the US across an MPLS WAN. The US has it's own DAG in the US and its own MAPI network (this MAPI network is tested routable to the UK) DAG own replication network not routable, and simply a cross over...

The Migration Arbitration mailbox is located within the UK DAG, it exists as do the other Arbitration mailboxes and everything works fine moving mailboxes across DBs in the UK...

As soon as I try and move a mailbox in the US between the two server (or even on the same server within the US) it comes up with the following error after about 20mins: Worth stressing that all migration within the UK DAG work perfectly fine...

Error:MigrationTransientException: Failed to communicate with the mailbox database. --> Failed to communicate with the mailbox database. --> MapiExceptionMdbOffline: Unable to make connection to the server. ‎(hr=0x80004005, ec=1142)‎ Diagnostic context: Lid: 41192 dwParam: 0x1 Lid: 63464 Lid: 34792 StoreEc: 0x6AB Lid: 51176 StoreEc: 0x80040115 Lid: 48104 Lid: 39912 StoreEc: 0x80040115 Lid: 41192 dwParam: 0x2 Lid: 55272 Lid: 34792 StoreEc: 0x6BE Lid: 51176 StoreEc: 0x80040115 Lid: 48104 Lid: 39912 StoreEc: 0x80040115 Lid: 41192 dwParam: 0x0 Lid: 49064 dwParam: 0x1 Lid: 37288 StoreEc: 0x6AB Lid: 49064 dwParam: 0x2 Lid: 38439 EMSMDBPOOL.EcPoolConnect called [length=48] Lid: 54823 EMSMDBPOOL.EcPoolConnect returned [ec=0x476][length=20][latency=796] Lid: 53361 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 51859 Lid: 33649 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 43315 Lid: 58225 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 39912 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 54129 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 50519 Lid: 59735 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 59199 Lid: 27356 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 65279 Lid: 52465 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 60065 Lid: 33777 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 59805 Lid: 52487 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 19778 Lid: 27970 StoreEc: 0x476 Lid: 17730 Lid: 25922 StoreEc: 0x476

I assume this is looking for the Migration Arbitration mailbox in the UK, across the WAN and is failing but all other features seem to work fine... In fact if I try to migrate using the Shell on a US server, it works fine so this seems to be limited to the Console...

WAN connectivity is fine, I have done a TCP any any on the ASAs to make sure there is full communication and everything else works fine...

Any ideas as to why it seems to be failing to see the Arbitration mailbox? I t is also worth mentioning I have re-run the ADPREP /Alldomains to ensure there is no corruption within the Arbitration mailboxes...

I have probably missed something very simple somewhere but for the life of me can't think where...

Any help gratefully received...

Exchange 2010 - 2013 random auth.owa error

$

Hello,

I have an odd situation where we are preparing 2 exchange 2013 servers to migrate 2010 servers to

so currently:

2x Exchange 2010 (with dag)

2x Exchange 2013 (with dag).

Now it's behaving extremely odd when it comes to ECP for the 2013 servers.

randomly it works and doesn't work.

i generally try it from localhost on both 2013 servers, and individual server ip's from lets say 4 or 5 places.

all same login, and admin user is inside mailbox db DAG cluster.

now the problem:

it randomly pops up auth.owa error 500

when i say random i truly mean random, sometimes everything 100% works, i am able to login 100% from all servers.

then i check back lets say 2 hours later.. some obtain auth.owa errors while others work.

What i tried:

- I rebuild OWA (first with reset, then with remove and re-add method) on both 2013 servers.

- removed killbit file from 2013's

- rebuild exchange 2013's (just exchange it self).

- checked heartbeat monitor boxes and removed the null values.

----------------------------------

It's safe to say i am kind of lost on what to try next.

i am also mistefied why it randomly works, i know it's internally loadbalanced, but shutting down 1 of the 2013 servers did not get rid of this strange behavior.

is it possible that the exchange 2010 servers play a part in this issue?

Any ideas, any help is very much welcome!.

Regards,

Marco

Public Folder Migration Cross Forest

$

Hello,

We are in the middle of planning a cross forest migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.

To give some context:

We already have an Exchange 2013 environment complete with mailboxes, and public folders etc. We have a 2010 Exchange server in a different forest that we would like to migrate all existing mailboxes and public folders from to the Exchange 2013 forest. We will be keeping the domain/forest that currently contains 2010 so all mailboxes that will be moved will end up being linked mailboxes in the 2013 organization with the accounts held in the other forest.

One of the big unanswered questions remains around public folder access. During migration there will be a time when some users will be in the Exchange 2010 organization, and some will be in the Exchange 2013 organization. I have two main questions around this

1. Is there any way possible that anyone can think of that the users moved to 2013 can access the public folders still on 2010?
2. What is the best way to migrate the public folders over from 2010 to 2013? Do we have to create the public folders and permissions on 2013 before hand or do we use a 3rd party tool or other method to achieve this goal?
