Not able to access exchange server 2013SP1

Exchange 2013 AD prep ..

$

Hi Guys,

I recently deployed coexistence between exchange 2007 and exchange 2013. Everything looks great so far. I just realised that I failed to use the parameter "Setup.exe /PrepareAllDomains /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms" when running AD prep. I failed to see that the client had other domains in the exchange infrastructure. I only relaised this when the client tried to create a new user mailbox for one of the other domains.

I am of the opinion that if i run AD prep again, this issue will go away. My concern however is that I am not sure of the implication of running AD prep after I have gone live with the exchange server. Will this cause any change/break my deployment?

I have tried running AD prep on the AD of the affected domain but it fails because the schema master is on the primary domain.

MY QUESTION: what is the implication of running "Setup.exe /PrepareAllDomains /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms" on an exchange infrastructure that is in production?

Thanks for your advice guys ..

~Richard

Exchange 2010 can't display certificate

$

Hello,

We have a problem with our exchange 2010 certificate for the hybrid mode with Office365.

Server: "Windows server 2008 R2 Sp1" Exchange: "Exchange Server 2010 SP3 14.03.0123.004"

When we :

  • Try to display the certificate in the « Exchange Management Console »

OR

  • Execute « Get-ExchangeCertificate »

We have this error message (after what looks like a Timeout) :

The Exchange Certificate operation has failed with an exception. The error message is: The remote procedure call was cancelled + CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (:) [Get-ExchangeCertificate], LocalizedException +FullyQualifiedErrorId:1094CEAB,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.GetExchangeCertificate

Yet, the certificate is correctly installed (appears in mmc/cetificate) and works fine.

Do you have an idea of why we have this behavior?

Thank you for your help and comments.

The STARTTLS certificate will expire soon. Event ID 12017, 12018

Hi There,

I have upgraded my Exchange server from 2007 to 2013 in Jul 2014.

in my 2007 structure I used to have an Edge Transport and two Hub servers.

but in 2013 I got rid of all of them and have only one server.

Now I am getting Errors below:

Event ID 12017

An internal transport certificate will expire soon. Thumbprint:D23A8F92E7F?????699964B098C318EA57E0A824, hours remaining: 2018

Event ID 12018

The STARTTLS certificate will expire soon: subject: email.mydomain.com, thumbprint: D23A8F92E7F?????699964B098C318EA57E0A824, hours remaining: 2018. Run the New-ExchangeCertificate cmdlet to create a new certificate.

Shall I do anything? or I receive the message because I ran my exchange server 2007 next to my 2013 for a few months.

Mailbox Role Setup Error

Hello, when trying to install the Mailbox Role: Transport Service, I get the following error:

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
configure-WSManIISHosting -EnableKerberosModule;
" was run: "Application 'PowerShell' doesn't exist in the default Web site in 'C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\config\ApplicationHost.Config'. Make sure the application isn't deleted from the default Web site.".

Any ideas how to resolve this? I've tried everything.

Thank you.

Migrating from Internal On-premises Exchange 2007 (on Windows Server 2003) to Exchange Online

I'm having a few issues doing a cutover migration from our internal on-premises Microsoft Exchange to a hosted Exchange on Office365.

I'm trying to do the "Prepare for Migration" step covered here:https://support.office.com/en-ca/article/Perform-a-cutover-migration-of-email-to-Office-365-9496e93c-1e59-41a8-9bb3-6e8df0cd81b4#CreateEndpoint I'm trying to install Outlook Anywhere and have Office365 be able to access our emails.

The problem that I'm having is related to the certificates installed. Our internal on-premises Exchange FQDN is of machine.company.local, not machine.company.com, and it's using the self-signed certificate that it generated.

Steps I've attempted:

1. Install a .com version of our third party certificate. This creates the 12014 errors:

MSExchangeTransport 12014 - " Microsoft Exchange could not find a certificate that contains the domain name machine.company.local in the personal store on the local computer. Therefore, it is unable to support the STARTTLS SMTP verb for the connector Default TOINTERNET with a FQDN parameter of machine.company.local. If the connector's FQDN is not specified, the computer's FQDN is used. Verify the connector configuration and the installed certificates to make sure that there is a certificate with a domain name for that FQDN. If this certificate exists, run Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Services SMTP to make sure that the Microsoft Exchange Transport service has access to the certificate key.

Additionally, Office365 can't connect to our internal exchange server.

How would I go about this?

On another note, will Microsoft be okay with a third-party signed .local certificate?

Hi,

We have installed exchange 2010 and also created the public folder and enabled the mailboxes. After sometime due to some issue with SAN and IP conflict we have reimage the Exchange 2010 server two time. The OS is windows 2008 r2 and we have also rename the server.

We have completely remove the Exchange attribute from ADSIedit.

Now while installing the exchnage 2010 we are getting below issue. we tried to install one by one role but failed to install.

While installing the HUB role , below issue is coming:

Error:

The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); if ( ($server -eq $null) -and ($RoleIsDatacenter -ne $true) ) { Update-RmsSharedIdentity -ServerName $RoleNetBIOSName }" was run: "Database is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: Database".

Database is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: Database

While installing the CAS node:

Error:

The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); $vdirName = "PowerShell"; $InternalPowerShellUrl="http://" + $RoleFqdnOrName + "/powershell"; new-PowerShellVirtualDirectory $vdirName -InternalUrl $InternalPowerShellUrl -DomainController $RoleDomainController -BasicAuthentication:$false -WindowsAuthentication:$false -CertificateAuthentication:$true -RequireSSL:$false;" was run: "The virtual directory 'PowerShell' already exists under 'ARFWEX05.ARF01.net/Default Web Site'.

Parameter name: VirtualDirectoryName".

The virtual directory 'PowerShell' already exists under 'ARFWEX05.ARF01.net/Default Web Site'.

Parameter name: VirtualDirectoryName

While intalling the mailbox:

Error:

The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); $count=0; $ExchangeServers = Get-ExchangeServer -DomainController $RoleDomainController; $minVersion = New-Object -typeName Version -argumentlist "8.0.642.0"; foreach ($server in $ExchangeServers) { $currentVersion = [Version]$server.AdminDisplayVersion; if (($currentVersion -ge $minVersion) -and ($server.IsMailboxServer -eq $true)) { $count++; } } if ($count -eq 1) { Set-OrganizationConfig -DomainController $RoleDomainController; }" was run: "No provisioning handler is installed.".

No provisioning handler is installed.

Kindly let me know if i am missing something

Good Morning,

I'm just installing CU8 for Exchange 2013 on a DAG Member (only mailbox role installed), and setup is stuck at 49% of "Mailbox Role: Client Access service" for more than 2 hours now.

The ExchangeSetup logfile says:

Hosted E-Mail with Onsite Exhange Server 2013

Our company uses public folders extensively and we think an onsite exchange server gives us a big advantage in speed of e-mail maneuvering too. However we don't have a generator backup power system and in Florida power outages from storms in the summer can last 2-3 hours which forces a server shutdown and of course loss of e-mail. Is it possible to have hosted exchange company e-mail to retain e-mail during these outages and also keep an onsite exchange server? Can I retrieve my company's e-mail from the hosted exchanger server by downloading it to my onsite exchange server? Is this simply called bagging or would one use some modified POP retrieval of e-mail from the hosted site?

Setup Exchange 2013 in different IIS website

$

I am installing the Mailbox and Client Access Roles into a Server 2012 server, and this server already has IIS installed on it and hosting a Web Application in the Default Web Site. That already existing website has had it's http port bound to 85 instead of 80 though (which I would have thought made this easier).

I cannot find a way that I can specify which Website for it to install the Client Access. Letting it install by itself merges with the existing web application, and the SSL settings cause it to break.

Any insight would be helpful.

Mailbox Migration Exchange 2010 to 2013 very slow

I'm experiencing very slow migrations:  A 700MB mailbox took 4 hours.  I Have 3,800 mailboxes to move, at this rate it will take two years to complete going 24/7/365.

Does anyone have any ideas?  This is running from a 2010 DAG to a 2013 DAG, all servers have latest updates, service packs, etc.  DAG status is all healthy.

2010 = Update Rollup 8-v2 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3 (KB2986475) 14.3.224.2
2013 = Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 7 (KB3040856) 15.0.1044.29

What can be done to speed this up?

E-mails migration

How can we migrate users from exchange server 2010 to new exchange server 2013. The two exchange environments are different. Once we installed new exchange server 2013, how do we import all exchange 2010 users mails into new exchange 2013.

Move mailbox from 2010 to 2013, and then back to 2010 - cant then migrate to 2013 again!

$

Sorry for the long title, but I cant think of any other way of putting it.

We are testing an Exchange 2010 - 2013 upgrade/migration and as part of the testing we migrated a mailbox from 2010 to 2013, and then moved it back to 2010 again - for testing purposes. Now, when we try and migrate it back from 2010 to 2013 we can select it, initiate the job, but within a couple of seconds the number of mailboxes to move drops to 0 (zero) and then the job completes, with no errors at all, but the mailbox is still on the 2010 Information Store.

Now, we dont plan on doing this but is this unique to use, or is this a bug/feature? Exchange 2010 is at SP3 with UR8MK2, and Exchange 2013 is with SP1/UR8.

Thanks

Phil

Office mail merges are extremely slow after upgrade to Exchange 2013

Ever since we migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2013 SP1, our employees have reported that mail merges are taking triple the amount of time to send messages. What used to take an hour is now 3 to 4 hours. Some offices are required to send upwards of 6,000 messages at a time. I know Exchange 2013 handles throttling differently than previous versions however the default (global) ThrottlingPolicy was sufficient with our previous 2007 installation. I've never had to deal much with Throttling so I'm not exactly sure of what settings I should be looking at....also I'm not sure if this would even be related to throttling. Has anyone experienced this issue before with Exchange 2013 and could you provide any recommendations or settings that I need to be focusing on in relation to Outlook client connections? We are currently using the GlobalThottlingPolicy for all users.

/PrepareDomain Question

Client has a root domain and several child domains.  Exchange 2007 servers are installed in the root domain.  The server roles are distributed - MB, HT and CAS.   Some child domains have a single Exchange 2007 server with combined roles and some child domains have a single Exchange 2010 server with combined roles.  All Exchange servers in all domains are part of the same Exchange Organization.  A migration of mailboxes on root domain MB servers only to Office 365 is planned.  A hybrid server Exchange 2013 server will be deployed in the root domain to support the migration.   To support this, which child domains should setup.exe /preparedomain:<fqdn> be run against?

Thanks in advance.
