IMAP Migration Error "Delay Response from Source Server"

$

While migrating from On-premises Exchange 2013 to O-365 through IMAP it is giving error after syncing approx. 200 mails "Delay response from source server".

Workaround :

1. Check IMAP endpoints and found ok.

2. If we did migration from individual mail user id password in a batch then its working perfectly. But while I did the migration from a common user ID and password then its giving error.

Waiting for reply....

Thanks & regards

Migration to MS Exchange - Google Apps

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to migrate data away from Google Apps for Work and into an on-prem MS Exchange server? I know there's a tool and procedure to migrate into Office 365, but does anyone know of a method to migrate to a physical server? Or, if these will also work with exchange?

These are the links I've looked through for O365...

https://support.office.com/en-US/article/Migrate-Google-Apps-mailboxes-to-Office-365-665dc56c-581c-4e35-8028-6bc1e8497016

https://support.office.com/en-US/article/Migrate-your-IMAP-mailboxes-to-Office-365-3fe19996-29bc-4879-aab9-5a622b2f1481

I also know that Google lets you 'export' end user data into mbox files but those are done on a per-user basis and take ages for each user. I'm looking for more of a "live" solution similar to Google's GAMME tool but for Microsoft.

Thanks

Migrating Public Folders from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

$

Hi,

I am just finishing migrating from SBS2011 with Exchange 2010 to Server 2012 Standard with Exchange 2013.

The problem I am having is when I run the New-MigrationBatch script on the 2012 server to begin migration of public folders from the SBS2011 Server.

I have followed this https://technet.microsoft.com/en-GB/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx

I run this cmdlet New-MigrationBatch -Name PFMigration -SourcePublicFolderDatabase (Get-PublicFolderDatabase -Server sbserver) -CSVData (Get-Content C:\PFMigration\folder-to-mailbox.csv -Encoding Byte) -NotificationEmails

I then get this error

A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'SourcePublicFolderDatabase'.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [New-MigrationBatch], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,New-MigrationBatch
    + PSComputerName        : server2.domain.local

I have tried changing this to direct public folder database name but I still get errors.

Can anybody shed any light as to what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance

Merging existing 2013 Public Folders and 2010 Public Folders from different organization.

$

Following recent acquisition of another company we faced the following situation:

Company A has Exchange 2013 Organization up and running and already using new Public Folders migrated from 2010 when we upgraded.

Company B has Exchange 2010 Organization with their own PF infrastructure.

When it comes to migration, there's already public folder mailbox which was created when first migration occured.

I cant figure next steps to merge those PF infrastructures at the moment, as removing public folder mailbox prior migration is not an option, since we already have big amount of data in 2013 Organization.

Have anyone done similiar task and if so, how did you overcome this limitation?

Default Address Policy

$

0

We are running 2003 domain and 2003 Exchange. We installed 2010 Exchange server and migrated a few users. What is happening is users email addresses are changing. Seems to be using First Initial Last name but when I open the Default Email Policy from 2010 I get the following error "Recipient policy objects that don't contain e-mail address won't be shown unless you include the IncludeMailboxSettingOnlyPolicy parameter in the Get-EmailAddressPolicy cmdlet". But the only thing that is defined inside the policy is 3 different domains with the default domain being the default nothing else is defined. If you try to open the policy from a 2003 server it tells you that it was created from a newer version and you cannot edit. When you run the following command
get-emailaddresspolicy "Default Policy"

I get the following response

Name                                    Priority                                RecipientFilter
----                                    --------                                ---------------
Default Policy                          Lowest                                  Alias -ne $null

Now if I browse AD using ADSI edit into the following

Configuration - Services - Microsoft Exchange - Our Domain - Recipient Update Services

I see 2 policies one that created from the 2003 servers and another one Enterprise Configuration which I think is the one that was upgraded. Should it show 2 policies there or only one.

So what I have noticed is after you set a users email address under 2010 or 2003 exchange it changes it to be first initial last name after about 20 minutes or so. Then we have to go in and change the alias and email address. A few times we found that it removed all the email addresses completely. The weirdest one was I removed the alias from my account and it was as though I didn't even have an email address. I went and searched for my mailbox and it showed nothing yet I could see all the attributes were still there except mailnickname which I added manually and set correctly. I cannot figure why it is changing the email addresses on it's own. Now if I go under 2010 EMC I look at the email address policy(there is only one the default policy) I see it shows as not applied.

Anyone have any clue what is going on this is affecting all my users 2003 and 2010 because it is changing their email address and mail is getting returned because the email address does not exist unless I change it only to find 20 minutes later it is changed back. Any help would be appreciated.

Decommissioning Exchange 2003 After Staged Migration to Exchange Online

$

0

We have just completed a staged migration from a single Exchange 2003 Server to Exchange Online (Office 365) using the guide, "Perform a Staged Migration of email to Office 365."

At the end of the guide, Microsoft warns: Decommissioning Exchange can have unintended consequences. Before decommissioning your on-premises Exchange organization, we recommend that you contact Microsoft Support.

The following have been accomplished so far:

  • All on-prem mailboxes have migrated successfully.
  • All on-prem users have been converted to mail-enabled users.
  • Their mailboxes no longer exist in Exchange 2003, as part of the conversion to MEUs.
  • DirSync is used to synch AD up to Office 365.

We plan to:

  • Decommission Exchange Server 2003.
  • Upgrade domain controllers from Windows Server 2003 SP2 to 2012 R2.

Since Exchange 2003 doesn't work in 2012 DFL/FFL, it most likely isn't possible to use any 2003 management tools to edit ADUC.

In this scenario, would you recommend to simply uninstall Exchange 2003?

Thanks!

Maximum amount of distribution lists

Hello,

I'm trying to find out what the limit is of creating distribution list in Exchange 2010.

The answers I find is the maximum of recipients within a distribution list.

I think we would like to create more than 3000 distribution lists. Is that possible? What are the limits?

Office 365/Exchange PST Capture Tool not finding mailboxes

$

I am trying to use this utility to move the emails/contacts/etc. in some of my local PST files into an email account on Exchange Online (the cloud) through Office 365.

I have set up the "Online Connection Settings" and have connected successfully using the "check" button to my Office 365 global administrative account.

Next I added my PST file using the  "Add from Folder..." button.

The problem is that when I click on "Set mailbox..."( to direct the emails/contacts/etc. to be added to the correct email address in my company) the list never loads, it simply says "The Central Service is retrieving the mailbox data, try again in a moment".

It has been like this for several hours and shows no signs of change.

I need to be able to load .pst files from my old domain into the exchange cloud and NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. This means actually importing the emails, not just adding the .pst file to Outlook.

Please advise why the tool cannot find my company's email addresses and how to fix.

-Joe

P.S: I have already posted this in the Office 365 forums, they gave me the "not officially supported" nonsense and sent me here.

Hi all,

we have Lync server 2013 in high availability mode.We have only 1 pool and everyone from each country is in there. We have 4 sip trunks in different countries,so far only 1 country has option to Call in (via mobile).

We tried to setup for Germany, but the Greetings are in English, they wish it in German. When they Call voicemail number that is defined in UM dial plan, they get error number not in use.

What is correct step for this setup (and rest of other countries)?

Thanks!

Help: Removing a member Exchange 2010 server

Hello everyone.

I've exchange server 2010 deployed on 2 sites, I wanted to remove UM server and one CAS server please note that VM's of both servers are already deleted only records are present in Exchnage Management Console and Exchange Organization.

I know ADSIedit can be used to remove those servers, but i do not want to proceed as its not recommended and i can not end up with messing up whole topology and configuration.

Is there any way i can delete them from my exchange organization topology and they do not appear afterwards?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Exchange 2010 Federating - Get-FederatedDomainProof -DomainName

Hi,

I am reading the following article. http://www.stevieg.org/2013/08/when-running-the-hybrid-configuration-wizard-in-exchange-2010-sp3-ur1-the-domain-proof-of-ownership-is-not-populated/

We are trying to Federate for Calendar and Free/Busy sharing with a different domain let's say it's called domain1.com

My domain name is Mydomain.com and I have a different domain called mydomain2.com that I use as an alias with different users (those users have mydomain2.com setup as their main email address) and again we want to Federate with domain1.com

That being said, my understanding is that I have to:

1.) From my HT servers I have to run the

                              Get-FederatedDomainProof -DomainName "mydomain1.com "

                              Get-FederatedDomainProof -DomainName "mydomain2.com "

                              To generate the proof

2.) Then I have to create a TXT entry with the proof that I have generated from Get-FederatedDomainProof -DomainName "mydomain1.com " the TXT entry has to be part of DNSZONE for mydomain1.com

3.) Do the same thing with mydomain2.com and create the entry for TXT entry for the DNS zone mydomain2.com

4.) The domain that we want to Federate with domain1.com they need to do the same within their zone.

                              Is that correct?

I was creating a second website for additional owa/ecp vdirs (see - https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/04222fae-8f13-4ef3-b3b8-b699d7e547af/exchange-2013-multiple-iis-owa-sites-with-different-authentication?forum=exchangesvrclients&prof=required

Simply created a new website in IIS, and makde a copy of the OWA and ECP folders in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy.  2nd website works fine

HOWEVER, now when trying to log into  OWA (default web site) - I get "This page could not be displayed.Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting tohttps://exservernam.domain.com"? If I go directly to that server and launch owa(https://localhost/owa), I can get into owa fine (just not from other computers (https://servername/owa)?

Hi all,

Please find below some technical information about our Active Directory and Exchange infrastructure :

> 2 AD Forests

> One Exchange Organization per-forest :

===> AD Forest A : Exch version > 2007

===> AD Forest B : Exch version > 2010

Note : there is no trusts between both AD forest currently.

We would migrate the mailbox from AD Forest A to AD Forest B and i need the complete list of flows and AD prerequisites for the MAILBOX cross-forest migration.

thanks a lot in advance.

Hello,

My customer is trying to configure OAuth authentication between his on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online organizations. He follows the steps in this article.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn594521(v=exchg.150).aspx

He got stuck in Step 1 after running the following command. (He replaced <> with his onmicrosoft.com domain.)

New-AuthServer -Name "WindowsAzureACS" -AuthMetadataUrl https://accounts.accesscontrol.windows.net/<your verified domain>/metadata/json/1

The received error was :

Any clue what went wrong, and how to fix it?

Thank you very much for all the help.

Need help on this.

E2013 CU8 + E2007 CU13

Owa works fine for both migrated and non migrated mailbox

Outlook anywhere works only for migrated (externally) and work for both internally (pointing CAS2013).

Externally I'm not able to connect to non-migrated mailbox with OA (Outlook 2010 and 2013) - error say exchange is not connected.

On CAS 2007 I got this

Virtual Dir are ok

Got any idea..

diskpart.ps1 script from e2013calc6.6 failing - not sure what I'm missing

This has worked great for me in the past, but the difference this time is that we are separating out of logs to a separate volume. As such, we've created 12 LUNs (6 x 215GB, 6 x 10GB) for each of the three (3) MBX servers, added as raw device mappings via their individual VMware hosts.

For each MBX server, they are evenly distributed across 3 virtual SCSI controllers, interleaving the smaller and larger disks. Using the CSV files and PS scripts exported by the sizing calculator, we had an issue with diskpart.ps1 failing. I'm unsure how the diskpart.ps1 script understands which is the smaller disks but it seems to, which is great.

It seems to run Run-Diskpart and PrepareVolumes() functions without issue but runs into a snag during the PrepareDatabases() function. The result if that we're left with the formatted drives, but there are no mount points within the root directory specified in the companion Servers.csv file.

It notes that "the volume you selected is not valid or does not exist. There is no volume selected."
This is where it would normally create the database directory within the c:\ExchangeDatabases\ directory matching the corresponding database name and assign the c:\ExchangeVolumes\volumeName.

As a result it cannot create the enclosing subdirectories for databaseName.db and databaseName.log
