Cmdlets not running on new exchange server

I have just deployed my first exchange server 2013 in my environment. This was forced by the sudden death of my SBS 2008 which I was planning to retire soon. After following the pre-requisites, I had a brand spanking new installation and life seems good.

This week I tried to run some cmdlets but I keep getting the error "Could not find any Global Catalogs in the forest. I have tried to restart exchange but the error is the same. When I check the domain the GCs are advertising. I have three in the main site (learnt the hard way from SBS that it doesn't hurt to have too many DCs as GCs).

I need help as I believe this is a huge problem

I am running Server 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013.  OWA works inside and outside.  OA is not working when I run the outlook connectivity test it fails with RPC Proxy can't be pinged. 401 UnAuthorized.  If I perform a RPCPing on the server I get the same message.

Migrating Public Folders from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

Hi,

I am just finishing migrating from SBS2011 with Exchange 2010 to Server 2012 Standard with Exchange 2013.

The problem I am having is when I run the New-MigrationBatch script on the 2012 server to begin migration of public folders from the SBS2011 Server.

I have followed this https://technet.microsoft.com/en-GB/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx

I run this cmdlet New-MigrationBatch -Name PFMigration -SourcePublicFolderDatabase (Get-PublicFolderDatabase -Server sbserver) -CSVData (Get-Content C:\PFMigration\folder-to-mailbox.csv -Encoding Byte) -NotificationEmails

I then get this error

A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'SourcePublicFolderDatabase'.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [New-MigrationBatch], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,New-MigrationBatch
    + PSComputerName        : server2.domain.local

I have tried changing this to direct public folder database name but I still get errors.

Can anybody shed any light as to what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance

Unable to access Exchange 2013 EAC/ECP webpage

Hi All,

Getting extremely frustrated now with a new Exchange 2013 installation on a Windows Server 2012 VM...

After having a lot of problems with the installation (didn't uninstall visual c++ which caused failure, then needed to delete the AD Microsoft Exchange System Objects group due to permission failures, etc) I've now got a fully installed Exchange server. Still, now I cannot figure out how to fix my next problem - Accessing the EAC/ECP.

I've searched every possible web guide/forum thread and the only one which is the same issue I'm having is this one: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/89c42771-78c9-4d94-88e5-557320eccc71

Unfortunately, as you can see in that thread, it is still unresolved.

Current Issue: trying to access https://localhost/ecp (or any other variation) returns a 404 Not Found.

The error page points the physical path to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ecp however that folder does not exist. I have tried manually changing the IIS site (Exchange Back End) to point its physical path to C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\ecp which seems to be valid, however it doesn't work...

Not sure what else to do... HELP!

Autodiscover Problem

I have a mixed bag of PC's and Macs on our network. The PC's run Office 2013 Pro Plus. The Macs run Office for the Mac. We run Exchange 2013. We have a certificate registered to mail.mydomain.com. In DNS we have internal SRV record pointing to mail.mydomain.com. There is no external autodiscover record. There is also no internal A record for autodiscover.mydomain.com. The PC's running Outlook 2013 are ok, but some of the Macs running Outlook for the Mac are getting a redirect message that won't go away. How do we solve the autodiscover issue for the Mac Outlook clients? Thanks.

Install Just the exchange schema

Hello TechNet.

I am working with Office 365, and I want to implement DirSync.  To do this properly, I need the Exchange schema installed in my AD environment. I am wondering if anyone knows how to do this.

I am working with all eval downloads right now, and the Exchange 2013 eval is a exe, not an ISO.  So,  what do I need to do to get ONLY the exchange schema installed?  Do you have a website to direct me to?  I have looked, and found one for 2010, so if they steps are the same, perhaps I already have my answer.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Office 365 - Exchange 2013 Hybrid - Web App Proxy

We're getting ready to start moving our Exchange 2013 users to Office 365. At the same time we want to open up Outlook Web Access for everyone outside our network who hasn't been migrated to Office 365 yet.

From much reading it looks like I could accomplish this by setting up a Web App Proxy on the edge and then when users logged in, ADFS would decide where their mailboxes were, either on premise or in the cloud. Am I looking at this the right way?

Not sure what it is.  The server is running Server 2012 R2 and it is a VM.  It has exchange and associated necessary features, roles, and prerequisites and nothing else installed.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Exchange 2013 CU7 3 times and each time this error has been present.  It happens twice at boot and seems to cause no problems.

- All servers are with windows 2012 r2

- I deployed 2 Mailbox servers and configured DAG .

When I disconnect 1 server (CAS), I can access my mailbox . also, users can. my issue is when I power off Mailbox node 1 database moving to mailbox node 2 successfully , outlook still connected and can send or receive successfully. but I cant open OWA or ECP it get me blank screen. when I power mailbox node 1 again I can access OWA and ECP.

I Uninstalled Exchange , IIS , and all things related to exchange on this node and reinstall it again with the same issue.

Any Idea?!!!

Installed Jetstress 2013 after installing exchange 2013

We are currently planning our migration  from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and we did not realize that we should run the jetstress tool and then remove it before you install Exchange 2013 because it can cause problems with performance counters. I read this in the Jetstress Field Guide. Exchange 2013 was installed previously, but it has not been configured yet. I would like to know if I can just remove Jetstress and configure Exchange or should I perform a reinstall of Server 2012 and Exchange 2013 and if so can I just wipe it clean and start from the beginning or does it have to be removed from AD as well.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Our office wants to allow our users to gain access to their email using OWA on iOS or Android. We want to have a Web App Proxy and ADFS authenticate users to Exchange 2013. Will these apps be able to connect with this setup?

Migrating from Exchange 2003 and Windows server 2003 to Exchange 2013 with Windows server 2012

Hello,

I have to migrate a windows server 2003 (AD) and the Exchange server 2003 to Windows server 2012 with exchange 2013.

I want to know, first of all, which migration should be first: the AD or Exchange?

anyone can help me with a "list" of steps I must do? (only the steps, at least, I will handle then with the rest of operations.)

Thank you,

Outlook anywhere coexistence? Basic/NTLM authentication?

I have been starting to setup a EX2007->2013 migration.

And after pointing the clients to the new 2013 frontend clients are starting to get a login prompt in Outlook.

And the reason must be that according to the exchange deployment assistant you should set basic authentication for outlook anywehere.

So my setup is:

ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Basic
InternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
IISAuthenticationMethods           : {Basic, Ntlm}
Server                             : 2007legacy

ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
InternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
IISAuthenticationMethods           : {Basic, Ntlm, Negotiate}

Server: 2013frontend

http://silbers.net/blog/2014/01/22/exchange-20072013-coexistence-urls/

What happens if we change to NTLM on the 2007 as well?

A note to remember is that we dont have any internalclients.

Email not flowing if old server shut down

I have recently setup a new Exchange 2013 server to take the place of an older 2013 server. I have migrated the mailboxes over, changed the DNS to point to the new server (both internal and external), have uninstalled Exchange from the old server and, all is working.

That is until I shut down the old server, and mail stops flowing into the new email server from our antispam gateways.

I can only asumme that the Exchange config has a reference to the old server but I can't find where. I have checked all the visible setting on the send and receive connectors but can't find anything.

Any idea on where I should look?

Planning a DAG, what to be aware of when installing CAS-Srv #2 ?

$

Hi, our single Exchange 2013 server has been running nicely up to now, but we're looking into DAG to be prepared for "eventualities". Thinking of putting in a secondary CAS/MBX server in another location, same domain, no load balancing planned, just want it to be there ready if the main server fails.

Got a fair idea of how to setup DAG, but one question bothers me: What happens, especially with autodiscover, when i install the second CAS/MBX? I'm concerned if the Outlook and Lync clients will start connecting to the new CAS that will give'm nothing.. Or can I rely on them to continue to use the old CAS? Both external and internal autodiscoverURL is set to https://autodiscover.domain.com... Should I set the same for the new CAS as soon it is installed? (Only one DNS-record for autodiscover internal/external pointing to the "old" Exchangeserver).

Other thing to consider to avoid interrupting the working emailsystem when installing the new server?

Thanks.
