PowerShell for Mbx Moves

Local mbx moves i progress, set to AutoSuspend at 95% completion.

Anyone help with the PS which would display all SOURCE Exchange 2007 Mailboxes NOT currently "SYNCED"?

I want to do a source and target comparison of any mbx left behind, which still need to be migrated.  When the job is set to suspend, it still shows the source DB as the location.

thx

Question on Exchange 2013 Configuration

I am looking for some feedback on whether this is the correct setup for Exchange 2013. Current setup with Exchange 2010 is ....

Site A

2 Cas Servers (in casarray)

2 mbox Server (in DAG to Site B)

Site B

2 Cas Servers (in casarray)

2 mbox Servers (in DAG to Site A)

Moving to Exchange 2013, this is what the plan is ...

3 Servers in each location

Site A

2 Servers with CAS and MBOX Role (with DAG to Site B)

1 Server with just CAS role for redundancy (not sure if this is needed?)

Site B

2 Servers with CAS and MBOX Role (with DAG to Site A)

1 Server with just CAS role for redundancy ( not sure if this is needed?)

Does this sounds like a good solution or is the 3rd CAS server not necessary?

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks,

Gavin

Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing Error 2 happens twice at boot EX2013CU7

Not sure what it is.  The server is running Server 2012 R2 and it is a VM.  It has exchange and associated necessary features, roles, and prerequisites and nothing else installed.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Exchange 2013 CU7 3 times and each time this error has been present.  It happens twice at boot and seems to cause no problems.

Moving mailbox from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 failed

Moving mailbox from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 is failed, it shows...

Error: MigrationPermanentException: Error: An error occurred while updating a user object after the move operation.

on Address List or Email Address Policy "\Test" is invalid. Additional information: ANR isn‎'t supported. --> ANR isn‎'t supported.

Actually, there is no Email Address Policy "\Test" in our current Exchange envirnment. (I checked it in Exchange 2007 Management Console -> Organization Configuration\Hub Transport\E-mail Address Policies tab)

In addition, I cannot edit the current email address policy (Exchange 2007 Management Console -> Organization Configuration\Hub Transport\E-mail Address Policies tab). Whenever I tried to edit it, it prompted "Unable to edit the specified E-mail address policy. E-mail address policies created with legacy versions of Exchange must be upgraded using the 'Set-EmailAddressPolicy' task, with the Exchange 2007 Recipient Filter specified". Deos it matter to the mailbox movement?

Exchange 2013 vs TMG vs Form Authentication

We have Exchange 2013 and OWA deployed externally thru TMG 2010.

The thing is that current settings on Exchange 2013 virtual folder (OWA & ECP) are set to:

- Integrated Windows auth

- Basic Authentication

And if we switch those to Use-Forms-based authentication, then OWA stops working outside thru TMG.

We would like to achieve that users internaly should be able to login thru forms

Message bounced REPLYING to new migrated 2013 user - NEW EMAIL works!

Migrated a number of users from 2007 to 2013. All OK apart from one user (who had the largest mailbox). Know he can recieve newly created emails but no-one can reply to an email otherwise this error occurs. Tried moving back to 2007 but, worryingly, this does not seem to work.

"The Exchange server for the database object "Mailbox Database 0637172224" wasn't found in Active Directory Domain Services. The object may be corrupted."

Getting REAL frustrated installing Exchange 2013. Tried to install MSDN Exchange 2013 and then update it with CU3 and that failed all over the place with exceptions.

So I am trying to install a "fresh" CU2 installation from command line and it goes quite a long way in the setup and then fails at  Mailbox Role: Mailbox service. Fails trying to mount the database with "The Exchange server for the database object "Mailbox Database 0637172224" wasn't found in Active Directory Domain Services. The object may be corrupted."

As previously mentioned I did a complete error free install with MSDN 2013, no problems. Previous to CU2 install I installed all prerequisites, setup/ps, setup/PreapreAD, setup /pd.

Done searching for answers as this is gotten to be more than a headache. The goal here is to migrate Exchange 2007 to 2013 and I need at least CU2.

Any idea's???

Raising Domain Functional Level in an Exchange 2013 Hybrid Environment

We currently have an Exchange 2013 Hybrid server along with a DirSync VM that syncs our AD with Office 365.  The domain functional level is 2003.  I just installed a pair of 2012R2 DCs and I'm ready to remove AD from the 2003 DCs and upgrade the DFL to 2012R2.

In regard to raising DFL and decommissioning the old DCs, are there any known issues or configuration changes required for either the Exchange 2013 server or the Dirsync server?  Of course we need to change IP configuration so the Exchange and Dirsync servers have the IP address of the new DNS server.  But I'm wondering if there's anything else in the server config that points to a particular DC, or will have trouble with the DFL upgrade.  Any guidance here would be appreciated.

Exchange and AD Migration to new forest

Greetings,

Can somebody give me high level procedure on below set of requirement.

1. Currently having 2 Domains (Windows 2008) - Need to setup a new Domain (Windows 2012 R2) in a new forest and migrate all the users

2. Currently having Exchange 2010 in old forest - Need to setup Exchange 2013 In new forest and migrate all the mailbox(s) to the new Exchange 2013

Require the best practices to use native tools or third party tools. In case, Native Tools have any limitations.

Thanks in advance.

Exchange 2013 CU3 to CU10 upgrade

Hello,

We have our exchange server on premise running version 2013 CU3 with a multi node DAG. Is it possible to upgrade straight to CU10 without upgrading to SP1 first?

Thanks

Access is denied when running Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 from Exchange 2013

Hello Technet,

Maybe someone has seen this already or can offer a suggestion. I am trying to setup OAuth between my Exchange 2013 and Lync 2013 servers. But every time I try running Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 from an Exchange administrative
PowerShell command prompt I am getting the following access is denied error.

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.

I am at a complete loss as to why or even how to fix it. I have tired searching Technet already along with google and have not come across anything to explain this error. Now my domain does consist of a parent and child domains. With Exchange running out of the child domain. Exchange 2013 is currently patched to CU10 while Lync 2013 is running the July 2015 update. Any suggestions would be hopefully at this point.

Exchange 2016, errors after trying to recreate system mailboxes, inc Federated, discovery & migration users.

I have recently moved from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2016 and I did migrate the arbitration mailboxes when i moved but recently i have been seeing problems with the system mailboxes when trying to migrate within 2016.  So i decided to delete and recreate these users following articles online telling you how to do this, but they all seem to be different.  I have recreated and mail enabled these mailboxes, but ive been getting more errors since doing this.  What steps should be taken after mail enabling these?

for example i could not migrate users after performing this, I found an article telling me to run this: -

Set-Mailbox "Migration.8f3e7716-2011-43e4-96b1-aba62d229136" -Arbitration –Management:$true

That fixed migration, but i still see errors in my application logs regarding missing mailboxes & also the notifications in ECP do not work anymore.

These are some events i have: -

Exchange 2013 Passthrough Auth without Pre-Authentication

Hello All:

I'm deploying an Exchange 2013 environment with the following requirements:

  • No pre-authentication for internet facing services (OWA, OA, ActiveSync, hybrid, etc)
  • Forms based authentication for external OWA
  • Pass-through authentication for internal OWA

Is there a viable way to have my servers perform forms based auth for external OWA while also allowing internal users to open a browser and have Integrated Windows Authentication setup for passthrough without providing credentials?

Currently, this works in my 2010 environment because we have TMG doing the forms based auth on the outside.  However, with my requirement to not use pre-authentication with Exchange 2013, I'm not sure there is a way to accomplish this.  Is it possible that I will have to setup a second pool of CAS servers to accommodate both scenarios?  I haven't been able to find much information on this so your help is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Johnny

Secondary Exchange 2013 CAS setup

We installed one Exchange 2013 server named EXCH1 with both CAS and Mailbox on it.   Everything was working correctly.

So I installed a second CAS/Mailbox server named EXCH2.

After that, one user started reporting this error.   {Outlook is unable to connect to proxy server exch2.domain.com. (Error Code 8).

(Question 1) Does Exchange 2013 CAS load balance automatically?  Because all of the DNS and external URLs point to EXCH1 (going through a firewall and such of course)

So why is a user being pointed to EXCH2?

So I made sure all the VirtualDirectories in EXCH2 matched those from EXCH1.  Also imported our wildcard cert.

(Question 2) Should that make the error go away or are there other things I need to do?  It's hard to tell if the error is widespread because only 4 users are on the new Exchange environment right now.

How to migrate from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 ?

We are currently using Windows 2008 Standard SP2 with Exchange 2007 SP3 RU5.

Total of 7 E2007 servers in several locations.  (one "Organization").

We are interested in hints, tips, and information about how to migrate from E2007 directly to E2013.

We will probably "skip" Exchange 2010 (e2010).

How will e2007 and e2013 coexist ?

Any thoughts on when this environment would be "supported" ?

Does it make sense / 'good idea' ?

Thanks.

Can I use Forefront TMG Gateway 2010 with Exchange 2016/2010 mixed mode environment?

Hi, sorry I could find Exchange 2016 forum, so I post here instead.

We are currently running Exchange 2010 with OWA/Activesync published on Forefront TMG 2010 Gateway.  We will eventually replace TMG with an compatible extended load balancer but for the transition, can we use our existing TMG gateway for Exchange 2016?  Has anyone done this?

Thanks
