Exchange 2010 SP1 /Hosting to Exchange 2013 Multi-Tenant Migration

$

Hi Fellows.

I am looking for resources for migrating from Exchange 2010 SP1 hosting mode to Exchange 2013 or 2016 within the same AD Forest.

Are there any resources available?

Is coexistence possible?

Is there Multi-Tenancy/hosting mode available in Exchange 2013/2016?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards.

Exchange migration on server 2012

$

I have two exchange server in different forests, based on windows server 2012 r2. "@a.cop" "@a.cop.local"

Now I need to combine those two into one as "@a.cop"

Here comes the problem,

I want to migrate the user of "@a.cop.local" to  "@a.cop"

one problem is they have the same Netbios, they can't trust each other,

the other is that even if I change the Netbios, there is no tool to migrate the user on windows server 2012 r2.

I don't want the user to change their password.

Get-MailboxDatabase does not show default Exchange 2013 database

I have introduced an Exchange 2013 CU11 server into an Exchange 2010 environment. Exchange 2010 is updated to the latest Update Rollup of Update Rollup 12 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3.

Installation went just fine with not errors reporting. However, when I run Get-MailboxDatabase from the EMS, it only shows the databases on our Exchange 2010 server. I want to rename and move the default database instead of it being "Mailbox Database 12345678."

When I go into EAC, I can see the database in there just fine with no issues.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Eric

Migrating from Exchange 2003 to 2013

$

I know there isn't a migration path for Exchange 2003 but has anyone tried any type of work around?  I'm thinking about moving one of my customers users mailboxes to PST files and them importing them into Exchange 2013 on a 2012 server.  Has anyone had any experience doing this?  Below are the details of what I have and what I was thinking about doing:

Small Network - approx. 10 users

Server 2003 Sp3 standalone AD DC with Exchange 2003

Would like to move straight to Server 2012 with Exchange 2013

If I export the mailboxes and uninstall Exchange from the 2003 server will Server 2012 join the domain and upgrade the existing AD schema (forest and domain)?  If it would, could I then install Exchange 2013 on that server, create the mailboxes for the users and import the PST files?

Just wondering if anyone has tried this, or something similar.  They don't have an extra server to move everything to 2010 first so it's either a workaround or move them to Exchange 2010 (which Microsoft has quit selling).  I'm sure this will put a lot of small business VARs in a bad situation.

(Just as a side note) Is it true that Dell and HP have quit selling Windows 7 Pro? My vendor still sells it and will for 18 more months.

Default Policy cannot be managed by the current version of Exchange Management Console

Hi

I have a problem modifying exchange 2013 default email address policies after removing an old exchange 2003 server.

I probably forgot to remove the mailbox manager policy from the old server and find myself in a situation where I want to modify the default email address policy using ECP in exchange 2013.

I was trying to add another email address format and set it as the default reply email address and I got this error:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error:
The object ?Default Policy?cannot be managed by the current version of Exchange Management Console, please use a management console with the same version as the object ?0.0 (6.5.6500.0)?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I followed the following article using adsiedit.msc:

https://goo.gl/r5aaRI

But there are no EC entries in my MsExchPolicyOptionList value and MsExchMailboxManagerFolderSettings attibute is not set.

Can't get past this error.

Any ideas? I am desperate.

Is there a way to remove the current default email address policy and create a new deault one?
Or can I change the GatewayProxy value to the one I want setup?

Thanks and regards

Public Folders in hybrid deploymen

$

Hi,

I'm working on a hybrid deployment (fully patched on premise exchange 2013) to have a smooth move to exchange online. Atm I can move users to the cloud and the normal mail flow is running. Everything is fine so far.

The next steps will be:

  1. Make public folders usable for online and local users and leave pf local.
  2. Move all users in the next weeks to the cloud
  3. Move public folders to the cloud
  4. Uninstall on premise exchange

Ok, tried to work with that: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn986544(v=exchg.150).aspx

But... I got some questions:

Step 1: When I allready got public folder mailboxes: Why should I make new one? Is this on premise? Or do I have to make them in exchange online?

If I don't need to make new PF: Step4: Did that and I get from outlook a conflict that they couldnt access the server with the public folders.

Problemes updating CU9 to CU10 in step 1

Hello,

i'm having an issue with a single-server 2013 CU9(it was installed as CU9 directly) when trying to update to CU10 in step 1 i got:

Error:
Se ha generado el siguiente error cuando se ejecutó "$error.Clear();
install-CannedAddressLists -DomainController $RoleDomainController": "Microsoft.Exchange.Data.DataValidationException: El parámetro ResourceAddressLists no puede tener más de un miembro.
en Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.ADDataSession.Save(ADObject instanceToSave, IEnumerable`1 properties, Boolean bypassValidation)
   en Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.InstallCannedAddressLists.PostOrganization(ADObjectId resAl)
   en Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.InstallCannedAddressLists.CreateCannedAddressList(String name, QueryFilter recipientFilter)
   en Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.InstallCannedAddressLists.InternalProcessRecord()
   en Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.<ProcessRecord>b__b()
en Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.InvokeRetryableFunc(String funcName, Action func, Boolean terminatePipelineIfFailed)".

excuse the spanish, it essentially says that ResourceAddressLists can't have more than 1 member.

after this Exchange stopped working, mail flow stopped completely, smtp gave service not ready, etc etc, i had to re-reun the setup and then it started working( a reboot wouldn't fix it).

what's going on?, am i better off with running the CU10 adprepare and the domainprepare manually before launching the CU10 setup itself?

Access is denied when running Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 from Exchange 2013

Hello Technet,

Maybe someone has seen this already or can offer a suggestion. I am trying to setup OAuth between my Exchange 2013 and Lync 2013 servers. But every time I try running Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 from an Exchange administrative
PowerShell command prompt I am getting the following access is denied error.

I am at a complete loss as to why or even how to fix it. I have tired searching Technet already along with google and have not come across anything to explain this error. Now my domain does consist of a parent and child domains. With Exchange running out of the child domain. Exchange 2013 is currently patched to CU10 while Lync 2013 is running the July 2015 update. Any suggestions would be hopefully at this point.

Mailbox moves take a long time becuase of TotalStalledDueToHADuration

Move requests are taking a crazy long time. TotalStalledDueToHADuration is the biggest problem. Test-ReplicatonHealth tests all pass. Get-mailboxdatabasecopy shows healthy. Nothing relevant in the event logs. Ping time is 37ms.

Moving from Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5 to Exchange 2013 CU9. One copy in primary datacenter and one copy in secondary datacenter.

Any suggestion on what to do?

Failure installing SP3 on Exchange 2010

Good evening,

Following TechNet closely I'm currently in the process of moving my exchange 2010 environment to 2013.  I have single exchange server on a SBS 2011 box.  Sadly I've failed at the first hurdle installing SP3, the result is that my Exchange 2010 is refusing all client connections.

During the SP3 install I passed all prerequisites but during the actual upgrade it failed at the Hub Transport Role with the following error:

Cross forest same domain migration

Hi,

we need to perform an upgrade for Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2016. I understand this is possible in 2 ways:

1. Double-hop migration: Exchange 2007 to 2013 and 2013 to 2016 (2007 - 2013 coexistence is possible)

2. Cross forest migration Exchange 2007 to 2016 (new forest still to be created)

It is imperative to keep the same SMTP namespace.

Questions:

1. In the double-hop scenario is it possible to keep the email addresses unchanged? for example if we have in Exchange 2007 addressjohn.doe@domain.com we need to have in Exchange 2016 the exact same address, not something likejdoe@domain.com, for example.

2. In the second scenario we need to go with cross forest - same domain name, in order to preserve the email addresses. What will happen during the migration with the user accounts from the old forest? do they get migrated also? Do we need to rejoin al our (100+) workstations to the new domain?

Please help with some insights...

Thank you,

Marius

Unable to create Office 365 mailbox from on-prem Exchange 2013 ECP

I've setup our Exchange 2013 in hybrid mode with Office 365. I'm able to migrate mailboxes to Office 365 just fine and I can create new mailboxes from the Exchange 2013 ECP by choosing "Office 365 mailbox" just fine, but my co-worker who already has rights to create mailboxes does not see the option to create Office 365 mailboxes.

My user account is part of the domain admins group, my co-worker does not have those permissions.

What permissions or roles are we missing?

Carlton.

Public Folder Migration Stuck in “Syncing”.

We have an Exchange 2010 SP3 (CU12) and migrating the public folders as per https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn912663%28v=exchg.160%29.aspx) to a new Exchange 2013 server running CU11. At the step of initialising the migration batch and running the start command there is then no progress given of the migration batch. The status stays in the syncing state indefinitely, there is literally a couple of KBs worth of PFs so it shouldn’t take much time. In the EAC the details of the migration give no progress other than the syncing state notice.

Both servers have been rebooted and the DBs are currently mounted as such.
