Exchange 2013 migrate to new domain

$

We are scheduled to migration our Exchange server to a new domain using export / import.   The issue we are most concerned about is post-migration calendar appointments which will still have the old domain emails.  Appointments are updated frequently across the board (time and date changes, new or updated agendas, new attendees), so will users have to manually update each appointment and replace the old domain email addresses with new domain email addresses if the appointment changes post-migration?  Are there any tools out there that would do this switch during a migration?

Thanks in advance,

Exchange Server Version Mismatch

I noticed that I have Exchange Server 2013 CU20 installed on my Exchange servers. I was in the process of updating to CU21 when I got this error on one of my servers. The version of Exchange Server that's installed is newer than the version that's running. When I go and look the version on that server shows that it is running CU13 but has CU20 installed. Is there a way to fix this? It won't let me update the server.

Upcoming migration from resource forest back to user forest with upgrade from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2016

I have an upcoming Exchange migration from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2016 with a few twists. The customer originally (in Exchange 2007) had an Exchange Organization with a name that had an unsupported character in it beyond 2007. They created a resource forest and migrated to Exchange 2013. I need to update the exchange organization name in the user forest and migrated back from the resource forest while upgrading to 2016. I have performed many Exchange 2016 migrations, but never back from a resource forest and would like to understand the process if anyone is familiar with forest traversal upgrades. Normally I would install and configure 2016 and make it internet facing and allow it to proxy for 2013 prior to migration, is that still the process migrating from a separate forest? What are the setup steps to allow exchange installation in the user forest and migrate back from a resource forest with the least amount of disruption and coexistence between the two exchange server during migration or prior to decommission in the resource forest?

Exchange 2013 HA configuration and Office 365 integration

Hi!

We have a Customer that has 2 CAS Servers and 2 Mailbox Servers running Exchange Server 2013. They are thinking to migrate to Office 365. In the systems requirements for hybrid migration, full or minimal (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/hybrid-deployment-prerequisites), it says the following...

"The server roles you need to install in your on-premises organization depend on the version of Exchange you have installed. Exchange 2013: At least one server with the Mailbox and Client Access server roles installed. While it's possible to install the Mailbox and Client Access roles on separate servers, we strongly recommend that you install both roles on each server to provide additional reliability and improved performance."

So, Is really necessary to prepare a multirole server in order to do a hybrid migration?

Thanks

Hi Folks,

I have been attempting to install the said exchange on the said server without luck (manual, hub transport + management tools only.

This is a 2019 being added to what is 2 DAG members in this AD forest.

The installation crashes out at stage 7, the gui literally dissapears.

From the log, I am seeing, the following loop 3 times, the bold is I believe to the the culprit:

Save Completed for Server Object exc.contoso.com

Post the crash, control panel, exchange 2019 shows up as installed. A get-exchange server on the 2019 server shows the server, running the same on the 2013, we are seeing the two DAG members.

How do I upload my PST files to Exchange Online?

$

Hi all;

I am moving my home email (Exchange on SBS 2003) to the Microsoft hosted Exchange. I have the PST files for the 5 of us and now need to upload them to Exchange. Three of us use Outlook and so for those I can do it with Outlook.

But the other two are web access only. How can I upload the PST files to exchange? I have installed & run PST Capture and it now sees the 5 PST files. However, when I click set mailbox, I get "no mailboxes were found in the active directory". Since I want to push up to the online Exchange, active directory is irrelevant (I think).

How do I tell PST Capture to push the files up to the hosted Exchange? Or is there another way to do this?

I figure there must be an upload PST file button somewhere in the hosted exchange (that sure is a logical thing to have). But I can't find that.

??? - thanks - dave

Migration to MS Exchange - Google Apps

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to migrate data away from Google Apps for Work and into an on-prem MS Exchange server? I know there's a tool and procedure to migrate into Office 365, but does anyone know of a method to migrate to a physical server? Or, if these will also work with exchange?

These are the links I've looked through for O365...

https://support.office.com/en-US/article/Migrate-Google-Apps-mailboxes-to-Office-365-665dc56c-581c-4e35-8028-6bc1e8497016

I also know that Google lets you 'export' end user data into mbox files but those are done on a per-user basis and take ages for each user. I'm looking for more of a "live" solution similar to Google's GAMME tool but for Microsoft.

Thanks

Hi All,

I have an Active Directory along with DNS on one Virtual Machine. I want to install my Exchange Server 2013 on a separate Virtual Machine. Both my virtual Machines are running Windows Server 2016 as Operating System. I have checked this online but they are showing the installation on the server having the Active Directory itself.

How do I proceed with the installation? Please help.

Migration from Exchange server 2010 to 2013

$

Hi Everyone,

we had successfully migrated all our mailboxes from exchange server 2010 to exchange server 2013.

Now we want to decommission exchange 2010, however we cannot remove the mailbox database and it throws error:

Error:
This mailbox database contains one or more mailboxes, mailbox plans, archive mailboxes, or arbitration mailboxes. To get a list of all mailboxes in this database, run the command Get-Mailbox -Database <Database ID>. To get a list of all mailbox plans in this database, run the command Get-MailboxPlan. To get a list of archive mailboxes in this database, run the command Get-Mailbox -Database <Database ID> -Archive. To get a list of all arbitration mailboxes in this database, run the command Get-Mailbox -Database <Database ID> -Arbitration. To disable a non-arbitration mailbox so that you can delete the mailbox database, run the command Disable-Mailbox<Mailbox ID>. To disable an archive mailbox so you can delete the mailbox database, run the command Disable-Mailbox <Mailbox ID> -Archive. Arbitration mailboxes should be moved to another server; to do this, run the command New-MoveRequest <parameters>. If this is the last server in the organization, run the command Disable-Mailbox <Mailbox ID> -Arbitration -DisableLastArbitrationMailboxAllowed to disable the arbitration mailbox. Mailbox plans should be moved to another server; to do this, run the command Set-MailboxPlan <MailboxPlan ID> -Database <Database ID>.

however when we run the command we found that only discovery search mailbox was found in exchange 2010 database.

We tried moving the discovery search mailbox with below command:

Get-Mailbox -Database "Mailbox Database 1746187967"| New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase DB01

However it says this command works for ex2010, ex2007 & ex2003.

Is there any other command to remove the discovery search mailbox and decommission the ex2010 server.

thanks

Problems Re-Creating Exchange 2007 server in a 2013 hybrid environment

$

Here is my Scenario:  I inherited an exchange setup where Exchange 2007 was migrated to 2013 and the 2007 server was turned off and scrapped.  The 2013 machine is now in hybrid with 0365.

I've got an orphan 2007 exchange server records and transport rules, etc in Exchange 2013.  I'm wanting to get rid of all these references to the old Exchange 2007 environment to prevent any headaches in the future.  Luckily the computer object was still left in AD.

My understand is the proper way to do this is to spin up the exact version of server software (win2003 SP2), Make sure it has the same drives for install and DB...and install the same build of Exchange 2007 and put it in recoverserver mode.  I get an error: "Cannot find at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later in domain"

Functional Level is 2008 R2

I'm kind of at my whits end because from what i can see, there is no problems AD wise.  There are 3 DC's and all 3 are GC.  I'm specifying the DC when beginning installation.

Any ideas on where next to look???

From the machine i'm attempting to install exchange on, I can successfully run:
dsquery group -name "domain admins" -gc -s simone

And it returns:
"CN=Domain Admins,CN=Users,DC=mydomain,DC=something,DC=com"

I am trying to install Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2016 Virtual Machine. I have prepared the Active Domain as specified in the Microsoft Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/plan-and-deploy/prepare-ad-and-domains?view=exchserver-2019#step-2-prepare-active-directory and I have installed the prerequisites as follows: Windows Management Framework 3.0, Microsoft Unified Communications Managed API 4.0 Core Runtime 64-bit, Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack 64 bit and Microsoft Office Pack 2010 Filter Pack SP1 64 bit.
