unable to migrate users

I have been facing an issue from over last 2 months. For this issue worked with Microsoft too on sev A case for both on premises and cloud but unfortunately this is not resolved yet.
I hope there would be experts out there who can assist me resolving this issue
It is getting this error when doing off boarding or on boarding migration from or to cloud.

MigrationTransientException: The call to ‎'net.tcp://am6pr02mb4691.eurprd02.prod.outlook.com/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService AM6PR02MB4691.eurprd02.prod.outlook.com ‎(15.20.2623.13 ServerCaps:07FFFFFF, ProxyCaps:01FFFFFFFFC7FD6DFDBF5FFFFFCB07EFFF, MailboxCaps:, legacyCaps:07FFFFFF)‎‎' timed out. Error details: This request operation sent to net.tcp://am6pr02mb4691.eurprd02.prod.outlook.com/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService did not receive a reply within the configured timeout ‎(00:01:00)‎. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. And we have published reverse proxy from TMG and on TMG get this error 1 or 2 times only Failed connection attempt from MRS proxy when run live trace. 
Microsoft says the issue might be from network side but network team says its fine from their end.
Tried all best ways to resolve even run the hybrid setup again but still issue persists.
Anyone out there who can provide me solutions so i can try it.

Exchange 2013 & Office 365 Hybrid Autodiscover issues

Hi All,

We are in the process of migrating our on-premise exchange 2013 environment to Office 365 and have hit a major problem with the Hybrid Autodiscover process. When we attempt to setup a fat client (be that outlook or an activesync device) with a mailbox that has been migrated to the cloud we are constantly prompted for the logon credentials. When we run the Remote Connectivity Analyser everything passes for the on-premise autodiscover service and it redirects to the cloud one. It is at this stage that we receive 2 issues. The first is a timeout when attempting to test TCP port 443 on the cloud autodiscover server. The second is a 401 unauthorised when attempting to send a POST request to the cloud autodiscover server.

When we run the analyser for a mailbox that is located on the on-premise exchange server it passes all tests with no issues. When we run the analyser for a mailbox, and user, that is cloud only and uses the cloud domain suffix it passes all tests with no issues. We are also able to access the migrated mailbox though OWA.

All other elements of the Hybrid setup appear to be working as expected, except for Free/Busy Information. We are able to send and receive email between the 2 environments and mail sent externally to, and from, the cloud mailboxes routes through the on-premise exchange server. We are able to see Free/Busy information for on-premise mailboxes from the migrated mailbox but not from the cloud only mailbox. When attempting to view the Free/Busy information of the migrated mailbox from an on-premise one we are prompted for logon credentials.

Exchange delegation federation cert expired.

Hi,

The cert has expired. I looked into it on the web to find out what this cert  is really for and I found, that these functions can only work between the organizations if the cert is valid:

Free / Busy queries
MailTips
Out of office status
Profile pictures

The environment is an Exchange 2013 - O365 hybrid configuration and we  generally don't use these features, but we still need to migrate some of the local mailboxes to O365. 

Do I need to hassle with this cert to migrate mailboxes or I can leave it as it is? Our fnal goal is to shut down exchange 2013 anyway.

Trying to show all RemoteRoutingAddress thats different from *.mail.onmicrosoft.com

I need to see all remote-mailboxes that have an address other than *.mail.onmicrosoft.com. Here is what I tried to use but its only showing those that have the .mail.onmicrosoft.com. and not what I need.

Get-remotemailbox -resultsize unlimited | where-object {$_remoteroutingaddress -notlike "*.mail.onmicrosoft.com"}

using this command seems to be only showing the ones that have .mail in the routing address.

Migrating resource mailbox (room mailbox) Fails: you can't use the domain because it's not an accepted domain for your organization.

Hi,

I'm trying to move a room mailbox from on-prem to O365, but the process always fails with the error.

  • I cheked and it and has no proxy address attached to it, that has unaccepted domain nor missing the domain of the target organization.
  • It is not an orphaned migration request, it has no record of msExchangeRemoteHostaname in AD attributes.
  • The account is enabled in AD.
  • No licence is needed for Room mailbox under 50Gb of space used.

Anything else I forgot to check?

Uninstall Exchange 2013 error after Migration

Hi all,

we have currently migrated a Exchange 2013 Server Cu 6 to another Exchange 2013 Server,because
of Hardware Problems.
Everything is working fine.

Now the issue is to uninstall the old one. The first attempt failed, because it asked for UnifiedMessaging File from the original setup with CU 6.
Of course it's not there anymore.

Deleted in the Registry the action und watermark keys. But no success still incompleted installation detected.

Is it possible to use a newer exchange 2013 cu and uninstall it from the command line?

Also asked the microsoft hotline for a download link cu6 but gave up after 1 hour with the incompetent hotline. No i don't wanna relicense anything, just uninstall this old server. :-)

Any suggestions?

Issue with multiple domains on Exchange Server 2016

Hi,

I have an Exchange Server 2016 deployment on domain name abc.com. I have setup accepted domains for123.com and 456.com and users can login with UPN domain account on their respective domains to check and send email. However i am having issues with outlook configuration. 

https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com can also not retrieve Outlook Connectivity tests on either the123.com or 456.com. However abc.com is fine. I need to setup autodiscover for the other domains so that outlook clients can autodiscover.

i want a situation where users on all domains can get the setting automatically to either mobile or outlook devices. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I have a question which might be silly, but I installed exchange 2013 on windows server 2012r2 and created on the same server a new domain to test it, it went well so i wanted to change the test domain to my actual domain name so I had to demote the server and join it to the actual domain but of course there were issues with the active directory containers and other issues as well.

My question: is there anyway that I can do this process to change only the domain name from the test to the actual and if theres anything else I need to do?

Migration from Exchange 2010 on prem to Office 365 CorruptFolderSecurityDescriptor migration errors on one mailbox

The bad item limit was adjusted to 100.  

The sync report shows there are 2 items skipped.

The skipped items detail shows there are 1665 total items with subject="FolderNTSD"  and kind="CorruptFolderSecurityDescriptor" for varying folder names.

Is there *ANY* way to find out which Security Descriptors are corrupt?  There must be some type of query I can run to find out which are the offending security descriptors?  

I'd like to get this cleaner than 1,665 corrupt folders/mail items before migration.

What can I do?

Is the only thing to do is export entire mailbox to PST and re-import if any importand mail are found missing?

PrepareSchema / Prepare AD / PrepareDomain CU Upgrade

Hi Folks hoping someone can answer this relatively straight forward question :) 

I am upgrading an exchange environment from CU4 to CU23 (Yes I know its well out of date)

We have a forest with multiple domains consisting of the resource forest, and a trusted domain with the users in

    • contoso.com Exchange management objects in this domain
    • DomainA.contoso.com
    • DomainB.contoso.com Exchange Servers are in this domain
    • DomainC.contoso.com

    Users are in user.com domain. 

    The plan is to run /PrepareSchema in the root domain and then prepareAD in the root domain, I will also run PrepareDomain in the root domain

    I am unsure about which domain to run the /preparedomain. Looking through the docs https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/plan-and-deploy/prepare-ad-and-domains?view=exchserver-2019 it says to 

    • You need to prepare every domain where an Exchange server will be installed.

  • You need to prepare any domain that will contain mail-enabled users, even if the domain won't contain any Exchange servers.

Could anyone advise if /PrepareDomain will need to be run in the user.com domain? 

Or if prepare AD will need to be run across each domain in the same forest?

I cannot find documentation about this and there is only one schema master per forest.

hi,

i've got problem when update to cu8.

the file 'c:\program files\microsoft\exchange server\v15\transportroles\agents\hygiene\asdat.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product microsoft exchange 2007 standard anti-spam filter updates. try to find the installation package 'asdat.msi' in a folder from which you can install microsoft exchange 2007 standard anti-spam filter updates.

Upgrade 2013 cu11 to cu23 fails

Hi,

I have tried to update my exchange cu11 to cu23, but it fails with this error.

I been searching for a solution but i can't find any.

Its a windows 2012 std server,

i have installed all the  prerequisites .

Any ideas on how to procced with this?

Powershell Script to Remove Secondary Addresses for Particular Domain

I'm trying to remove all ProxySmtp addresses for domain xyz.com in our organization.  This is not the primary SMTP address, and it is no longer an accepted domain.  

Basically I want a search of all mailboxes which have an address in the domain to be removed, then remove the addresses for that domain.  I am able to search and get results for each mailbox with an address in that domain, but when any script runs the portion to (allegedly) remove that address it does not work.  The address is still present on each mailbox.

Does anyone have a script that they have tested and can verify that it works?  The ones I've tried are all variations of this:

Get-Mailbox-result unlimited |foreach{for($i=0;$i -lt $_.EmailAddresses.Count; $i++){

Exchange 2013 CU23: Error while upgrading from Exchange 2013 CU22 to CU23.

Hi,

During upgrade at lab to Exchange 2013 CU23 getting following Error, after Step 14(out of 18) and after some troubleshooting with eseutil, got the Clean Shutdown state and then unable to defragment the mailbox DB. Also, facing error while mounting the database.

System.InvalidOperationException: Failed to mount database "MailboxDatabaseName". Error: An Active Manager operation failed. Error: The database action failed. Error: Operation failed with message: MapiExceptionDatabaseError: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=1108)

Error: Access to source database 'MailboxDatabaseName failed with Jet error -1811. Operation terminated with error -1811 (JET_errFileNotFound, File not found)

Outlook 2019 keep prompt for entering password.

I am using Outlook 2019 with Exchange 2013, recently; it is found that my Outlook 2019 ask for password in Windows Security dialog box.  I have to click Cancel or enter my password to continue.

Any step I can do for further diagnostic.

Update to latest CU in an Exchange 2013/2016 mixed environment

We are (slowly) migrating to Exchange 2016 but still not done.

And since there is an critical exploit that's fixed in the latest CU's id like to update all the exchange servers.

But to my question is it safe to install a CU on the Exchange 2013 servers since they are mixed with Exchange 2016?

Hello all, 

I have what I suppose can be considered a paranoid CYA question. We are still running an Exchange 2010 server, which I am in the process of decommissioning. I have a 2012R2 Standard server loaded and all the prerequisites installed for Exchange 2013, as well as functional level at or above 2003, and all my domain controllers are 2012r2. I've read as much as I can for a week or 2 now regarding having a mixed environment and don't see that I'll have a problem if I let the Exchange 2013 installation make the necessary changes to my AD Schema. but before I pull the trigger here, (yes I'm being paranoid) I'd just like to ask... will installing an exchange 2013 server effect the functionality of my 2010 exchange server, or have some adverse effect that anyone can think of?

Outlook 2019 Missing Email until turn on Cache Mode

Hello;

One of my user reported missing emails, the email she sent was not in Outbox, not in Sent Item, I checked the Exchange 2013 mail flow report which did no show there.  When I diagnosed her problem, I found that the Outlook cache mode was turned off.  After I turned on the Cache Mode, the email reappear on Outbox and sent immediately.

If someone facing the same issue?  Why I turned on the Cache Mode, the email reappear in Outbox again.  Subject to my assumption, I think that the email was composed and it was being cached somewhere in user profile, after re-enabled the Cache Mode on Outlook 2019, it triggers the index or rescan, so the email reappear in Outbox.

Can anyone give me some hints.
