Confirm Public Folder Migration (Replication/Deletion) to allow Dismount/Removal of old Stores.

We have completed migration of mailboxes from the old Exchange 2003 server to the new Exchange 2010 store.

In order to 'migrate' the Public Folders we have used the following commands to create a Public Folder structure in 2010, replicate the folders (mainly/99% calendar items) onto the new 2010 Public Folder store and (after leaving it in place for the weekend) used the migration script to remove the replication from the old server.

As a test today, I dismounted the old PF store and tried opening the Public Folders in Outlook but get an error that they are unreachable. It seems that the PFs are still being accessed by clients via the Exchange 2003 PF store. I have also noticed that while the majority of PFs no longer appear on Exchange 2003, there are still two calendar Public Folders mentioned there (despite no replication being in place any longer).

I'm not clear on what I should be looking to do next to ensure that the old 2003 server is no longer relevant?

Unable to migrate users with archives

Hello Everyone:

We have an environment with a mixture of Exchange 2010 and 2013 servers.  For the most part things are working well except I'm unable to reliably and consistently migrate those Exchange 2010 mailboxes which have archives.  I was successfully able to migrate 50 mailboxes which also had archives then one day it stopped working.  All systems are updated and I am running CU2 on Exchange 2013 and Rollup 2 for Exchange 2010SP3.

The migration batch shows Synching in the GUI and queued when using PS get-move request.  The job does show up on the 2010 server but never progresses.  The report for each user shows no progress other than 2 lines indicating the job has been created.  There are no related errors in the event logs on source or destination servers.

We are stuck in the middle of a migration.  Thoughts?

Thanks!

Move mailbox from Exchange 2010 to 2013 is queued up for ever

I have 4 servers

2X2010 SP3 and 2X2013 CU2 server

names: 2010A, 2010B, 2013A and 2013B

on 2010A server I have 2 databases : 2010MDBA and 2010ARCA

on 2013A server I have 2 Databases : 2013MDBA and 2013ARCA

all the users on 2010A server have the primary mailbox on 2010MDBA and archive mailbox in 2010ARCA

I am trying to move mailbox as below

Primary mailbox from 2010A server 2010MDBA database to 2013MDBA database

Archive mailbox from 2010A server 2010ARCA database to 2013ARCA database

Get-mailbox UserA | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase "2013MDBA" -ArchiveTargetDatabase "2013ARCA" -BadItemLimit 200 -AcceptLargeDataLoss

It is queued for ever and never progress

get-moverequest | get-moverequestStatistics -IncludeReport | fl says it is queued

Test-MRSHealth is fine

No related events in the App or Sys Log

But if I run the below command it runs fine and worked

Get-mailbox UserA | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase "2013MDBA" -BadItemLimit 200 -AcceptLargeDataLoss

That is I am moving both primary and Archive to the same 2013MDBA, works fine

Any idea why it is not working

I rebooted both servers, disabled TCP Chimney and Disabled IPV6

Thanks

Sadiq

This is a new domain-joined Server 2012 member server with no data. Domain Administrator account is in the Organization Management group. Domain functional level is Server 2012.

Setup /m:RecoverServer fails because "...server roles are already installed..."

Uninstall fails because the "mailbox database contains one or more mailboxes..." which I can't delete.

Error During Exchange 2013 Mailbox Transport Role Install On Server 2012

    Question

  • I was installing Exchange 2013 on Server 2012.  The server is not a DC, but is a member of a domain with a 2008 R2 functional level, and I was logged in as a domain admin.  There has never been an Exchange instance on this domain.  I got past the prerequisite checks, and the installer showed 15 steps, so I walked away.  When I came back, I saw this:

Offline Address Book in Multi-tenant environment

I am a little confused by the offline address book configuration with 2013 multi-tenant vs the 2010 multi-tenant. With 2010 we were removing "Authenticated Users" from having access and adding a security group for the company.

Is this still the same case with 2013? Remove Authenticated Users from having read access and then add a security group for the customer that needs access to that particular offline address book?

Exchange 2013 multi-site design

$

Hello,

Please can anyone indicate me some values for the network bandwidth requirements for the following case:

4 Sites, each connected with 20Mb MPLS. Actually there is one non MS Mail system in each site. the 20Mb are 80% used in busniness Hour.
Site 1 : 200 users
Site 2 : 400 users
Site 3 : 600 users
Site 4 : 800 users (the "central site" with SMTP gateway)

The migration plan is to move to a multi-site DAG with active-passive DB in respective site + one lagged passive of each site in the "central" site.

By my lecture, the designe would be :

- 1 DAG covering the 4 sites
- 1 CAS Array per site
- 1 HLB per CAS Array

Can you please indicate me :
- if my design understanding is correct.
- the required bandwidth per user (20-50 mails per day at most, but as Exchange doesn't do deduplication, one email with 5Mo attachement sent to say, 100 users, represent 500Mo (Not Mb) of transfert, isn't it?
- if exchange 2013 DAG DB copy replication can be configured to be restricted to Of-business hours (per DB). Most needed in the time of coexistence/migration, when replication Data will be hughe..

Well, I would like real life multi-site replication experiments advice.. please.. would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you a lot

Autodiscover not working after exchange 2010 migration to new server

I'm migrating from one Exchange 2010 server to another on new hardware.  I've loaded Exchange, moved mailboxes, tested connectivity, everything seems to be working.  I created new connectors on the new server and pointed my firewall to redirect emails to the new server, seems to work.

However, I'm running the Exchange connectivity tester and it's failing.  It looks like the external url for autodiscover is incorrect.  (The internal one looks fine).

This is what it is showing for the url:  https://mydomain.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml

This is what it should be showing:  https://mail.mydomain.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml

I checked nslookup for autodiscover.mydomain.com and it is pointing to the correct ip address that is being redirected by my firewall to the new exchange server.

Hi,

Got EX13 and EX07 in co-exist. Pointed all the external URL to EX13. ActiveSync proxies to 2007 and OWA redirects to legacy url with SSO. Working perfectly!

But with Outlook Anywhere it does not work. Mailboxes on EX13 works good, but not for EX07 user.

Error message from MRCA:

We just migrated from 2007 exchange to 2013 exchange and the people with windows 7 seem to be able to access exchange through outlook 2010 without getting prompted.  Also people who are getting prompted are not able to access public folders and our XP.  Those using windows 7 can access public folders.

minimal down time

We have an Exchange 2010 Server and are looking to migrate to Exchange 2013. I have setup new server and everything is working. I did move one mailbox and it does send and receive email. My concern is down time. We would like as little down time as possible.

Our exchange 2010 server has the SSL Certificate. Do I move the certificate to the new server, migrate all mailboxes and swap IP addresses on the servers?

Of do I get a new certificate for the Exchange 2013 server, migrate mailboxes, setup another mx record and add entries with Registrar and firewall?

Thank you for the assistance.

Exchange 2013 Public Folder Migration Problem

$

Hi All,

Wonder if any of you can assist with a public folder issue I am having with Exchange 2013. We have migrated from Exchange 2010 to 2013.

I have followed the guide for public folder migration here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx

Everything went fine and as per the document - except I had to use the "largeitemlimit" parameter to get the public folder migration to complete.

We tested the public folder migration by adding content to public folders and creating public folders and it all appeared to be OK, we completed the migration and removed our old public folder databases from Exchange 2010.

However we noticed later that users cannot CREATE folders in SOME public folders. It appears from some testing that any folder that does not lie in the first public folder mailbox, end users cannot create public folders.  Administrators can create them fine from the ECP - just not from outlook.

It also appears some users cannot see some folders that they have permissions to.

Can anyone assist with some ideas to resolve ?

Thanks.

Can i change my Exchange 2003 organization to NATIVE MODE if my Front-End Exchange server is Windows 2000 Server

I am planing to upgrade from exchange server 2003 to exchange server 2010. I understand 2010 can co-exisist with 2003, but my 2003 organization must be in NATIVE MODE, not a problem because i don't have anymore MS Server 2000 domain controllers, they were decommisioned a few moths after we moved to AD. However my Front-End exchange server that sits on my DMZ is running Exchange server 2003 on Windows 2000 Server.

Can i change my Exchange 2003 organization to NATIVE MODE if my Front-End Exchange server is on the Windows 2000 Server OS? If not, will i have to setup a new Front-End Exchange server on at least Windows Server 2003 to replace the 2000 server setup?

It's been a very long time since these servers were configured so i may need help setting up a new Front-End server if it will be required.

thanks

B
