Hi all,

Would anyone know of a article to assist in rollback procedure for a failed exchange migration. I'm currently planning a cross-forest migration from multiple sources to exchange 2013.

3 different source environment:

Windows server 2003 32 bits with exchange 2003 sp2

Windows server 2008 R2 64 bits with exchange 2007 sp3

Windows server 2008 R2 64 bits with exchange 2010 sp3

1 target environment:

Windows server 2012 with exchange 2013 CU3

thanks for the help

Client Access Co-existence 2007 to 2013 - Urgent.

$

Hello

We have read dozens of articles around coexistence, but all presume existing namespace and external access to Exchange. None seem to apply to our environment.

We are using Exchange 2007 SP3 CU10, No existing Single Space, No Load balancing. 4 CCR Clusters and 2 HUB\CAS Servers.

We are installing Exchange Server 2013 CU2, and will be using an internal PKI for Certificates.

Also will be using a BigIP for Load balancing 4x2013 CAS, a new single namespace of mail.company.int.  And there will be no Internet access to Exchange 2013 CAS Services (only for SMTP).

Questions:

1) Do we still need to create a legacy.company.int namespace?

2) If so do we need to edit the namespaces on our Exchange 2007 CAS to use http://legacy.company.int/* Namespace?

3) Do Exchange Server 2013 Certificates need to be installed on the Exchange 2007 CAS?

4)Should the legacy.company.int namespace be in the same single certificate we use for Exchange Server 2007.

Thanks in advance, please if possible try not to point us back to another Web or Technet Article.

Lots of questions I know, but would greatly appreciate some clarity on this, we want to avoid any client issues.

Cert to secure UM

Hello,

I am preparing for an Exchange 2010 to 2013 upgrade/migration and am having a hard time with requesting a UM certificate.

I've created the request, went to our internal CA and put in that start here end here information and I get the cert and pki file. I import that file but exchange doesn't want to see it. I can see it through MMC.

What could I be doing wrong?

Hybrid 2010 and 2013 environment. When mailbox is created on 2010, unable to get to it from 2013.

Exchange 2010 to 2013 upgrade. 2010 on SP3, 2013 on CU3. 2 different AD sites. Autodiscover pointed at 2013.

2 issues that I believe are related due to their nature.

When I migrate a user from 2010 to 2013, Outlook Anywhere does not update automatically and correct the Outlook profile. I get an error

cannot start microsoft outlook. cannot open the outlook window the set of folders cannot be opened. microsoft exchange is not available.

This is both while connected to the network and not connected to the network.

Active Sync doesn't not automatically update either on phones.

EXRCA shows great for everything.

If i create a new profile or new activesync profile on phone it works great, but just won't migrate by itself.

The second issue is when I create a new mailbox on the Exchange 2010 server, it won't show up in the Exchange 2013 until i reboot the Exchange 2013 server. Doesn't show in ECA, or in the GAL.

Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013 between different domain

Hi,

Our company have two domains controller (AD1 and AD2) but it is not trusted. Due to company change, we need to plan merge two domains to new domain (AD3). Under the plan, we will user ADMT for user object migration and password.

For Exchange, we will plan to use Exchange 2013 on new domain. I want to know that what is the best way to migrate all mailboxes from AD1 and AD2 to AD3's new exchange server. We need to migrate over 500+ mailboxes.

Please anyone to suggest what is the best way to do it ?

thanks

OWA Coexistence 2007 and 2013

$

Hi

We are currently coexisting exchange 2007 and 2013 servers. Everything works fine, except OWA from the external.

Our domain is limocar.int.

Exchange 2007: exch2007

Exchange 2013: exch2013

On our internal DNS server, I've created legacy.limocar.int pointing to exch2007's IP address.

Exch2013 internal OWA: https://exch2013.limocar.int/owa

Exch2013 external OWA: https://mail.ourcompany.com/owa (where "ourcompany" is our company name)

EXCH2007 internal OWA was set to $NULL

EXCH2007 external OWA: https://legacy.limocar.int/owa

From the outside, I can log any 2013 users. But when I try to log a 2007 user, it changes the browser url to legacy.limocar.int, which indeed gives an error "The page cannot be displayed"

What am I doing wrong? instead of using legacy.limocar.int, should I use legacy.ourcompany.com? If so I will ask our public DNS to create legacy.ourcompany.com

Thanks for your help,

Martin

2007 SP3 to 2013 Migration -> Public Folders Migration (-2147467259)

Hi Guys

I'm currently undertaking an Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2013 migration, and all has been going swimmingly so far.  We've moved all mailboxes across and are at the final stages and just want to move the public folders across.

I've been following the instructions in: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx this article, and we have gotten up to stage 5 (Start the Migration Request).  The process gets around 20% of the way through, and from what we can tell seems to migrate all content from PF folders, however it then stops.  I've posted an extract of the log below, which should show you the error we're currently getting (it tries then exhausts retries & stops).

I've attempted to find some solutions, and searching for the respective error codes has suggested a couple of ideas, such as not being a PF Admin (checked), resource issues on source/destination servers (checked, and restarted for good measure), I saw mention of a problem with NETBIOS resolution so added the source server into the host files (checked).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

A Public folder migration 2007 -> 2013 is failing with the status detail: FailedOther

Error message: There are multiple primary SMTP addresses. Please ensure there is only one primary address for address type.

I can see the Identity as a guid, but can’t seem to identify what public folder is causing the error. Is there a way to see GUID to PF Names mapping?

Hello,

I am planning a migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and I was wondering if there was a good guide on the UM migration. I haven't found one that isn't confusing as heck.

Migrating from Communigate Pro to Exchange 2013

Hi all,

My company is currently using Communigate Pro and 90% of users use web-based email, the rest use Outlook PST. We currently need to migrate all the users' mailboxes to Exchange 2013. I have already tried one tool namely Transend Migrator which does the job but the licensing is really expensive. Anyone can please propose an alternative, preferably free one, how I can do this. Thanks in advance.

Exchange 2013 Cu3 Unable to get ECP or OWA working.

Hello,

I'm expirencing difficulties with exchange 2013 CU3, I installed two exchange 2013 servers one for the mailbox role and the other for CAS. After that I upgraded to CU3 and with the default configuration I cannot access the ECP or OWA.

I can access the Exchange managment shell.

I get a blank page with the url: https://CAS.Domain.local/ecp/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fecp

Edit:

After setting the authentication parametres in IIS to the default values I am instead redirected to a blank page with the following url: https://CAS.Domain.local/owa/languageselection.aspx?url=%2fecp%2fdefault.aspx

POP3 to Exchange server 2010 migration fail due to corrupt .pst

$

Hey guys

So, recently my company decided to migrate from a POP3 e-mail system where each user has his/her account configured locally to an exchange server 2010 e-mail system. Many users within the company have mailboxes as large as 20gb. We have asked the users to clean their mailboxes, but you know how difficult it is to make everyone comply to this. Anyways, so I began testing with some backed up .pst files for some 10gb mailboxes to see if i could prepare myself for the migration. Turns out many mailboxes had the corrupt items inside it and would not import, failing at 10/12 percent. I tried setting BadLimit to values like 40 and -AllowBigDataLoss and the process restarted, it was taking quite some time so I went home and this morning I saw that not only the process had not finished but also it created database items (like 100k more) that consumed the entire disk space. I actually had to delete the database files so i could do something inside the server. The problem is that now the process of importing the mailbox is in a loop and i can't exclude it cause it gives me an error(resource unavailable), probably because i deleted all the database items. It is strange because the mailbox is 10gb large and the hard drive is like 200gb large. But that´s not the problem, the problem is that i need to figure out how to import those .pst mailboxes without crashing the server. If i had this problem with one mailbox, i wonder what would happen if i imported all the 113 mailboxes of the company. Can anyone point me to a solution, because probably most of the mailboxes will have bad items!

Thanks

ECP & OWA - Blank pages

Hi All,

I followed the Exchange help files to ensure that all forest, domain and local server pre-requisites were installed, in the correct order, with time being allowed for replication of changes across the forest. The install went well with no errors reported. I am however having an issue with accessing the ECP (OWA behaves the same) in that the URL changes to https://serverFQDN/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=https%3a%2f%2fserverFQDN%2fecp&reason=0 ( originally entered as https://serverFQDN/ecp )and all that is produced is a blank page.

Environment:

Windows Server 2008 R2 (all updates applied) freshly installed in a child domain using a Domain Admin account granted Enterprise and Schema admin rights and added to the Organisation Management group. No previous Exchange organisation existed as this is a freshly configured (pre-production) environment that I intend to migrate into. Both the MAilbox and CAS server roles are installed, the server has 16 GB of RAM

Following research on the web I have already tried:

  • Uninstalling and re-installing Windows Identity Foundation
  • Checking the mailbox for corruption using the EMS. The mailbox seemed ok but to be sure I created a new user, ran the enable-mailbox command, added the user to the Organisation Management group but still get exactly the same issue
  • Running %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -ir
  • Using the EMS to perform a Test-EcpConnectivity, it failed even with the test user created with the supplied creation script

I can't find any consistent entries in the event logs. Any suggestions?

exchange 2010 dag migration to exchange 2013 help

If I want to use the Same mailbox servers and upgrade them to exchange 2013, what is the recommended way? I have a 4 member exchange 2010 DAG.

I was thinking (where A,B,C,D are mailbox servers, A,B are in one site and C,D another active directory site):

 A  B  -------------- C D

Remove A and C from the 2010 DAG, Format and install Exchange 2013 on both, and create a 2013 dag :

A1 ----------- C1

B ------------- D

Then move across all mailboxes from B to A1. Upgrade B and D to exchange 2013 and put them in the DAG

A1 B1 ----------- C1 D1

Does this make sense ? I am trying to do this while having as much high availability as possible during the transition. I have no extra servers so I have to use the existing server hardware.

Exchange 2013 new install - Outlook not working (cannot open your default email folders)

I have just setup a new server with win2k12 standard and exchange 2013 standard.

Outlook web mail works but Outlook 2010 (have latest updates) doesn't work.

On the same subnet, I open outlook and it says:'cannot open your default e-mail folders. microsoft exchange is not available. either there are network problems or the exchange server is down for maintenance.'

What do I need to do to get Outlook working? Are there additional steps that I need to configure on exchange 2013? I remember after install of exchange 2010, outlook would work fresh after exchange2010 install without additional configuration.
