I'm try to migrate from Exchange 2007 (on 2003 R2 x64) to Exchange 2010 (on 2008 R2) (all with last service pack) in different domain with a forest and domain trust.

I know it is Exchange 2013 forum but I don't see Exchange 2010 related forum.

1. I have made a Prepare-MoveRequest and all work fine

2. I have migrated other attribute with ADMT 3.2 and all work fine (the user can access the new domain and browse all file server of the old domain)

3. I' m logged on Exchange 2010 management shell and the command:
New-MoveRequest -Identity "mailtest@exchange2007domain.com" -RemoteLegacy -RemoteCredential $Exchaneg2007Cred -RemoteGlobalCatalog dc01.exchange2007domain.com  -TargetDatabase "EXHC2010DB01" -TargetDeliverydomain "exchange2010domain.local" -Verbose -Debug

The system return the error:

Database '04ba5257-54b1-4ee8-9b50-203c3f9107fe' doesn't exist.
    + CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (0:Int32) [New-MoveRequest], RemotePermanentException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : 8C654C28,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.NewMoveRequest

the database id '04ba5257-54b1-4ee8-9b50-203c3f9107fe' exists and is the Source Mailbox database on Exchange 2007

Any Idea or suggestion

"Unable to set shared config DC." when running setup /RecoverServer

Hi guys,

I'm hoping for a bit of assistance. I have stepped into an environment where there is one production Exchange 2010 server and one Exchange 2013 server. The Exchange 2013 server is in a unrecoverable state however it contains the domain administrators mailbox and therefore I cannot remove it manually. As it was a vm, I took it offline, created an identical server (name, os version(Windows 2008 R2 with latest updates), ip address etc.), installed all the prerequisite components and then ran setup /m:RecoverServer /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms. Everything runs through successfully until it gets to the Mailbox role: Transport service where it fails with "Unable to set shared config DC.". After some searching on Google, it suggests that ipv6 is disabled on the DC. We have two DC's in our environment and both have ipv6 enabled as does the exchange server. If I try to re-run the installation for the role alone, i.e. Setup /mode:install /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms /role:HubTransport, it fails with "The machine is not configured for installing "BridgeheadRole" Datacenter Role.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Autodiscover SSL cert not good for External Users

External Users are getting ssl cert issue with the autodiscover, everything works ok for them but when they open Outlook it asks them to accept the cert each time.

Our Webmail and everything else is  webmail.domaincorp.com  yet our email is just domain.com. When cert is presented its presenting the autodiscover.domainCorp.com cert instead of autodiscover.domain.com ... how can I fix that?

External address for Legacy?

I have setup a test lab before I proceed with doing a transition from Exchange 2007 to 2013.  I created my internal DNS host records mail, autodiscover and legacy pointing each to the correct CAS server.  My test lab works fine redirecting users from legacy.domain.com but this is all internal since it's a test environment.  Now in my production environment do I need to have an external address resolvable to legacy.domain.com?  From the reading I have done it seems like when a user makes a request it goes in through mail.domain.com (which is resolvable to CAS2013 server) and from there the CAS 2013 redirects it to 2007 which then sends the request back to the 2013 CAS and then out mail.domain.com and to the user but how does legacy get resolved.

Best way to migrate Public Folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 while keeping replica in Exchange 2010?

I am in the process of migrating Exchange 2007 to 2013.  There are two separate Exchange environments in the same Exchange Org, one 2007 and one 2010.  All Public Folders are replicated between the two.  What is the best way migrate the public folders to 2013 while still maintaining the replicas in 2010?  Thanks in advance.

Cross Forest migration Autodiscover

$

We are attempting to move from a Windows 2008 domain to a new Windows 2012R2 domain (2008R2 forest level). Exchnage 2010 SP3 is in the 2008 domain and Exchange 2013 CU5 is in the 2012 domain. There is only one accepted email domain and it is an internet routable address (eg. com.au) whereas the AD domains are both .local

So we are trying to move mailboxes from an Exchange 2010 org in abc.local domain with amydomain.net.au email address to an Exchange 2013 org in xyz.local domain with a mydomain.net.au email address. The users only have one accepted domainmydomain.net.au, they do not have an abc.local email suffix. We are NOT moving user accounts, this is similar to moving to a hosted Exchange offering.

The problem is with Outlook autodiscover when mailboxes are migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.

This is what has been done:

  • Setup two way trust
  • Configure SSL certificates and get them onto the relevent Exchange servers
  • Configure the SCPs for Autodiscover in both domains
  • Configured and tested all of the DNS
  • Changed the accepted domain to an internally routed domain in Exchange 2010 and configured the same in Exchange 2013
  • Configured Send and Recieve connectors in each Exchange org
  • Used ./preparemoverequest to create new objects in 2012 domain
  • Moved mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013
  • Accessed moved mailboxes with OWA successfully

Email flows between the two Exchange orgs correctly, out to the internet correctly, and in from the internet correctly. That is, if a user is in xyz.local, mail will come through the smarthost to the Exchange 2010 org, no local mailbox is found so it is sent to the Exchange 2013 org and delivered.

Outlook 2010 SP3 does not reconfigure with autodiscover. If the mailbox is moved while the user is looged on, they get a warning to restart Outlook but it doesn't connect. If the mailbox is moved when the user is not logged on, Outlook doesn't reconnect. Outlook cannot be manually configured to used the linked mailbox in the other domain.

I've read heaps of technet articles, blogs and the Exchange 2013 technet pages on Autodiscover and migration but to no avail. It is a small simple environment, all of the servers are on the same subnet so firewalls are not an issue!

This articel http://msexchangeguru.com/2013/11/03/e2013crossforestmigration/ has been a big help but I need autodiscover after the mailbox is moved.

Need some guidance BADLY on new Exchange 2013

We are using Exchange 2007 totally updated and patched to the latest version.  We have deployed an Exchange 2013 Cas/MB server to be sued to migrate users to the cloud.  We will be in a hybrid environment for some time.  The 2013 server is running on Windows 2008 R2.  The install went flawless; however, when I log into https://server/ecp/?exchclientver=14 (or 15) with my credentials I get the 403 access denied message.  I am included in all admin roles including domain, organization and exchange organization.  I read you need to create a user on Exchange 2013 so I did this and added this user to all exchange security groups as well.  I log into https://server/ecp/ it get redirected to OWA and there are no Exchange administration roles nor no options to include.  I am trying to manage the environment from 2013 and do the cert request and run a couple of migration tests.  I promise I feel like I have read every blog and site out there for the past 2 weeks and nothing.  I have even rebuilt the server and still the same issue.  Suggestions??  About to be at wits end on this one.  Thank you/

Readiness Checks fail with "The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.ThrottlingModule`1' threw an exception."

There's another thread about this issue but the accepted answer actually has nothing at all to do with the original problem/question so that's a bit deceptive.

Anyway, when trying to install Exchange 2013 SP1 (on 2012 R2 Datacentre) the installation reaches the Configuring Prerequisites part of the Readiness Checks and then fails out with the message:

The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.ThrottlingModule`1' threw an exception.

I honestly can't find any way around this issue and the only mentions I've seen resulted in people reinstalling Windows which obviously isn't really a resolution to the problem.

Is there any known fix for this issue?

Exchange 2013 SP1 - SSL Offloading Broken?

$

So I've decided to start testing SSL offloading with Exchange 2013 SP1 now that it is supported. I have followed this guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn635115(EXCHG.150).aspx. It is fairly straightforward, remove the "Require SSL" option on the VDIRS and IISRESET.

To test, I load up http://CAS/OWA and it immediately redirects to HTTPS://CAS/OWA. I do not see why it is doing this or how to configure it otherwise. So while my server is accepting connections on port 80, it's just bouncing them over to 443. How do we disable this?

I checked the HTTP Redirect option on the VDIRs, which is not present. Also, I am going straight to the server, so there is not a device in front that is redirecting my requests. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Brandon

Exchange 2013 Hybrid and Rightfax

$

We are in the process of planning our migration to Office 365, and one of the things we currently use in our Exchange 2010 on prem solution is Rightfax for direct faxing inbound/outbound.   The plan is to roll out exchange 2013 in hybrid mode, and I am wondering what i need to do so that faxing continues to work?

Since we will be running a hybrid, is it as simple as installing the rightfax service on the exchange server, or do I need to plan for some kind of cloud access, similar to how they borked up exchange UM integration (requires a session border controller, rather than routing through exchange on premises box).

Re-Create the "Exchange" virtual directory in the "Exchange Back End" Site on Exchange 2013

Sorry for this stupid question.

In IIS, I accidentaly deleted the "Exchange" virtual directory in the "Exchange Back End" Site on Exchange 2013 (Mailbox Role).

What I need to know is the physical path to re-create it.

Setup without "EDGE Server" option

Hi,

I'm setting up the Exchange Services as follow:

We have an Internal Network called "Internal.local" which running 2008r2 in all the servers and I installed Exchange 2013 on another 2008r2 server seems OK that I can send and receive mails within the network.

Now I want to setup an Edge server in the DMZ in order to allow some of the users have external email. The first problem is when I run the Exchange setup, it doesn't have the "Install EDGE Server" option. What should I do???

The second problem is if I continue with the setup, it keep asking for the AD info but I only want to install a standalone server in the DMZ. Did I do anything wrong??

Thanks.

Outlook Anywhere

Currently I'm running Exchange 2007 and 2013 coexistence.  I set all my Exchange 2007 virtual directories to point to legacy.mydomain.com with the exceptions of Autodiscover and Outlook Anywhere.  However, I wasn't as careful as I thought and by mistake set Outlook Anywhere on Exchange 2007 to legacy.mydomain.com.  My question is what impact will that have on users if I make the switch during the day to set Outlook Anywhere to mail.mydomain.com?  This is the command I was planning on running

Set-OutlookAnywhere -Identity "EXC01\RPC*" -InternalHostname https://mail.mydomain.com -ExternalHostname https://mail.mydomain.com -IISAuthenticationMethods Basic,NTLM  -- Also Is this command accurate?

Installing a second Exchange Server 2010 to a specific Administrative Group

$

Hello,

I am trying to install a second Exchange 2010 server and I was getting the object error is the incorrect version.  I feel now after running the pre-deployment analyzer tool that I know what the issue is.  It seems to be wanting to install to an old administrative group that is no longer in use and there is the old server information in there also as I can see it in ADSI Edit.  I don't want to remove that old information because honestly I do not know what effects it will have on the exchange organization.  So what I would like to do instead is just install it in the current Administrative Group.  How would I do that or is it even possible?  Please help.  Rob

Exchange 2007 to 2013 virtual directories

I'm gathering information before I do my transition to Exchange 2013.  One thing I'm not sure about is the virtual directory for OWA.  The information I have gathered states to change the internal/external URL to legacy.domain.com.  However my virtual directory for OWA are not defined. How do I approach that?  do I just not set anything?

Thanks

Adding multiple accepted domains with Import-CSV

Hello, I am currently adding a huge list of domains to my external relay in Exchange Server 2010. I know that there is a way to import data from a CSV file but I'm having trouble figuring out how to write it correctly so that the data will get placed how I want it.

The powershell command i'm currently using is as follows:

New-AcceptedDomain -name "Domain.com" -DomainName domain.com -DomainType ExternalRelay

I know that the Import-CSV | command can be used to specify data and designate it for the `-name` and `-DomainName` attributes. But I need help.

Is there all newly added features and fixes in cu1,cu2,cu3,sp1 are also included in CU5

Just want to confirm that all the newly added features and bug fixes in cu1,cu2,cu3,sp1 are also completely included in CU5 or there is some difference in SP1 and CU5.

An IIS directory entry couldn't be created. The error message is Access is denied.

We are migrating from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. We completed the install of Exchange 2013 - CAS and MBX on two separate servers - without any issue. I was then able to create a mailbox on the new 2013 CAS via the ECP. However, when I try to edit my CAS server for Outlook Anywhere, I get the error "An IIS directory entry couldn't be created. The error message is Access is denied. HResult = -2147024891"

The same error shows up when I try to run "get-owavirtualdirectory" in EMS. Although it does show me the OWA from my 2010 server.

In virtual directories, I have a lot references to my current 2010 server.

Both the 2013 servers have Exchange Trusted Subsystem group added to their local Administrators group.

I've Googled this and I find a lot of references to Exchange 2007, but we don't have that in our environment. We do have an old server up that still has an old Exchange 2003 on it - but this has been inactive since we moved to 2010 and hasn't caused any issues at all. Should I try adding the Exchange Trusted Subsystem group to the local admins group of that server, or will that cause more issues?

Does anyone know what could be the issue here? Am I just missing some post-installation steps?

Thank you,

Sid
