Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing Error 2 happens twice at boot EX2013CU7

Not sure what it is.  The server is running Server 2012 R2 and it is a VM.  It has exchange and associated necessary features, roles, and prerequisites and nothing else installed.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Exchange 2013 CU7 3 times and each time this error has been present.  It happens twice at boot and seems to cause no problems.

Migrating to Exchange 2013 from 2007. In Coexistence and receiving routine event errors.

$

We are in the process of upgrading our Exchange environment to 2013 and are currently running 2013/2007 in coexistence. The 2013 server has only 4 mailboxes on its database that we are testing with before migrating everyone and taking 2007 offline. The server is running Mailbox and CAS roles. Currently mail flow is working, but we receive the following event errors routinely. Also, OWA works but the login is slow. I’m looking to get these ironed out before moving over users. Any insight is greatly appreciated because I'm stumped. I have managed Exchange since version 5 and this is the first time I've had issues that were not easily resolved.

Exchange 2013 mailbox migration from third party cloud to on premises

Hi,

we are currently utilizing a third party exchange 2013 cloud service to host user's mailboxes (  intermedia), now we implemented an exchange 2013 on-premises environment in Hyper V infrastructure and want to plan migration of mailboxes and related configuration. cloud and on-premises environment have same SMTP domain ( Eg: XYZ.ORG) and currently an additional Temporary SMTP domain ( XYZ.CO ) used to test the external mailflow of on-premises since xyz.org is registered with cloud.

we need to migrate all mailboxes to on premises and enable XYZ.ORG for on-premises.

Pls suggest the prerequisites, steps, best practices for migration

Thanks in advance.

Failure installing SP3 on Exchange 2010

Good evening,

Following TechNet closely I'm currently in the process of moving my exchange 2010 environment to 2013.  I have single exchange server on a SBS 2011 box.  Sadly I've failed at the first hurdle installing SP3, the result is that my Exchange 2010 is refusing all client connections.

During the SP3 install I passed all prerequisites but during the actual upgrade it failed at the Hub Transport Role with the following error:

I now have to start this manually after installing CU7. I have a Warning event 7004 stating that modules are taking too long to start. I tried to make this service delayed start, but that made things worse. Is this a known problem? I don't find anything in a search...

Exchange 2007 to 2013 Public Folder Migration test user doesn't connect to 2013 folders

$
0
0

The basic symptom is this: The PF migration appears to work perfectly but when trying to assign a user to test the new folders it still attempts to connect to the old folders even though the users's DefaultPublicFolderMailbox is set to the new server. Connection status in Outlook still shows a connection to the 2007 server.

I'm using the TechNet PF migration article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx

This is a single server migration from 2007 SP3 UR10 to 2013 CU5 Standard. The migration of mailboxes is complete with no errors and I'm trying to move the 100mb in public folders over to the 2013 server. Using several guides but once I've had problems I've switched to using the "standard" TechNet article as follows. I am creating only one PF mailbox since there are 10 folders and 100mb in data roughly. My Mailboxmap.csv file shows only the following:

"TargetMailbox","FolderPath"
"PFRoot","\"

The entire PF migration steps work flawlessly with no errors that I can see at all. I've rolled back and ran this process a half dozen times now to see if I've missed something.

I'm stuck on Step 8: Item #2 testing the migration from the test user in Outlook.

I've assigned the DefaultPublicFolderMailbox properties as that Item #2 shows me to do and if I use Get-Mailbox (test user) | Select DefaultPublicFolderMailbox command I see the new PFRoot mailbox listed as the default. However, the test user can't access the public folders at all. If I look in EAC I still see no public folders listed at all. If I use this guide:

http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2013/migration-deployment/migrating-public-folders-exchange-2013-part2.html

It shows after setting "Set-Mailbox PFRoot -PublicFolder -IsExcludedFromServingHierarchy $False" I should be able to see the public folders in EAC. However, I can see the PF mailbox (PFRoot) but no public folders at all in EAC.

Where do I go from here? Even though I have no errors I don't want to complete the migration because the test isn't working.

Migration Planning: What will happen with clients when changing namespace?

$

Hello,

We are planning to upgrade our EX2010 enviroment to EX2013.

Sadly our namespace in EX2010 is right now owa2.domain.com. The name owa2 is coming from last migration between ex2003 and ex2010. I'd like to remove this minor flaw if possible.

But what will happen with all the clients and mobile devices which are right now bound to owa2.domain.com? Is it possible to change the name back to owa.domain.com without manual interaction with the clients?

Kind Regards

Office 365/Exchange PST Capture Tool not finding mailboxes

$

I am trying to use this utility to move the emails/contacts/etc. in some of my local PST files into an email account on Exchange Online (the cloud) through Office 365.

I have set up the "Online Connection Settings" and have connected successfully using the "check" button to my Office 365 global administrative account.

Next I added my PST file using the  "Add from Folder..." button.

The problem is that when I click on "Set mailbox..."( to direct the emails/contacts/etc. to be added to the correct email address in my company) the list never loads, it simply says "The Central Service is retrieving the mailbox data, try again in a moment".

It has been like this for several hours and shows no signs of change.

I need to be able to load .pst files from my old domain into the exchange cloud and NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. This means actually importing the emails, not just adding the .pst file to Outlook.

Please advise why the tool cannot find my company's email addresses and how to fix.

-Joe

P.S: I have already posted this in the Office 365 forums, they gave me the "not officially supported" nonsense and sent me here.

Exchange 2013 & Office365 Hybrid Deployment_

I have some queries before we deploy the hybrid model betweek exchange 2013 & office365.

Our main reason for a hybrid deployment is to archive emails of certain users to office365.

1. Can we achieve this with a hybrid model? Will the mailbox exist on premise exchange and archive data on Office365.

2. Will the user be able to access his current emails and archived email from outlook or will he have to login to different screens?

3. how do i deploy and configure the hybrid model.

4. what are the certification requirements.

Thanks in advance.

Autodiscover internal / external and CSRs

Hey,

I've just started setting up my first Exchange 2013 test server in my lab and I've gone to request a certificate.

All looks good except for the domains to be included in the CSR - it seems to be picking up different URLs for the autodiscover service.

Some background... My AD domain is corp.mydomain.com and my external domain is mydomain.com. I'm using split-horizon DNS to let users have a consistent namespace internally and externally. The internal DNS zone file for mydomain.com has the internal IPs and the external DNS zone file has the external NAT IPs.

I set the URL using this command:

Set-ClientAccessServer-AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUrihttps://autodiscover.mydomain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

No settings have been changed using "Set-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory"

I can obviously leave the extra "autodiscover.corp.mydomain.com" out of the CSR but I'm really curious as to where this is being picked up from and the impact of it - where is Exchange finding or calculating it?

Cheers,

Cross Forest Migration 2010->2013, FIM GALSync and moving to Resource Forest

Hi,

We have an Exchange 2010 in place in our current single Forest AD 'EX2010'. In here are our Users, Computers, Servers.

We have a new Forest in place, which is essentially a Resource Forest, with two way trust to EX2010. In here we are deyploying new technology only: Exchange 2013, Lync 2013, SharePoint 2013 etc.

now we want to migrate from our old EX2010 to the new EX2013, with temporary coexistance. I have FIM in place so all contacts are created in the 2013 domain, however when I actually migrate a User Mailbox from 2010 to 2013. I get a linked mailbox since my users still reside in the EX2010 domain. after that FIM fails for the migrated user since the contact and user account cannot coexist in the Ex2010 domain.

How do i resolve this situation?

thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Server Upating

We have two Exchange 2013 cu3 Servers on Server 2012.  We want to migrate to Exchange 2013sp1 (cu7) and Server 2012r2.  The servers are in a DAG at this time, and we would like to add a Server with the Edge Transport Role.  I know that I will need to bring in New r2 servers, and that I will need to disable the DAG because the servers will be different OSs.  But what would be the best and most time efficient steps to get through this migration of updating to the latest Exchange and the operating system.  Thank you for any assistance with this.

Migration from SBS2003 to Server 2012R2 Exchange issues

$

We are trying to migrate from SBS2003 to 2012R2 with Exchange 2010 with the ultimate goal of upgrading then to Exchange 2013. Trying to follow all the migration documents we have integrated the Server 2012 and Active Directory appears fine. the issue is when we try to open the Exchange Management Console or  Shell, we receive the error "Connecting to remote server "Servername.Domainname.local" failed with the following message: The WinRM client received an HTTP status Code of 403 from the remote WS-Management service. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic. It was running the command 'Discover-ExchangeServer -UseWIA $true -SuppressError $true -CurrentVersion 'Version 14.3 (Build123.4)''.

We can add the exchange management powershell snapin manually and verify the Exchange accounts are present using the Get-CASmailbox command. Running EMTshooter.ps1 gives a result of Your Powershell Virtual Directory is M.I.A.

Any help on this would be appreciated. I believe this is an issue with IIS but cannot seem to locate the problem.

We have not yet transfered the FSMOs from the 2003 SBS as we wanted be be sure Exchange 2010 was functional first.

Thanks for any assistance.

DNS Question....

Hello,

I am currently migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  My Exchange 2013 is up and running.  However, my certificate is not installing correctly.  Could it be that there is no public DNS entry for my Exchange 2013 box?  I do not handle my own DNS.

Thanks

All Exchange 2007 servers in the organization must have Exchange 2007 SP3 or later installed.

I'm getting that error in readiness check, but we don't have an exisiting exchange install.  Our email is currently hosted.  I believe my predecessor looked into setting up exchange and we have a exchange 2007 disc, but I don't any installation on the server mentioned in the error.

SSL Offloading after a CU Update - Exchange 2013

$

We started off our Exchange 2013 environment by building it on CU5. We currently use SSL offloading in conjunction with our load balancer.

We plan on starting to update our environment to CU7 starting tomorrow, and wanted to confirm with somebody who has applied CU's with SSL offloading.

According to this in the first paragraph, you must reconfigure SSL offloading after you apply a CU update:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn635115(v=exchg.150).aspx

Can somebody confirm this is the case?  Even if you do the setup.exe /upgrade command line switch?

Any issues setting it back up with the same commands we set it up with originally?  Just wanting to know if there are any gotcha's we should look at for.

From my reading, this would be the only thing we would have to set up back up if it's true.  I really hope it doesn't reset any other settings after the upgrade.
