I am attemping to install Exchange 2013 on Server 2012 R2 but I keep getting the below message.

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();

" was run: "There was an error while running 'ldifde.exe' to import the schema file 'C:\Windows\Temp\ExchangeSetup\Setup\Data\PostWindows2003_schema0.ldf'. The error code is: 8224. More details can be found in the error file: 'C:\Users\administrator.E-NET\AppData\Local\Temp\1\ldif.err'".

Any ideas?

I am experiencing an odd issue, we are running in coexistence mode at the moment with Exchange 2010 and 2013. We are in the process of moving user mailboxes from 2010 to 2013. Strangely some users move across fine without any issues and are then able to open outlook and continue working. However other users cannot open Outlook. I have also tried opening OWA post the move to 2013 for the affected user but get the attached error. The move completes successfully, for the moment I am moving the affected users back to 2010 so they can continue working. I have read other articles referring to ensuring that the inheritable exchange permissions are enabled for the user. This checked all permissions for users are identical. Anyone seen anything similar before?
 

I've tried unsuccessfully to update my Exchange from CU5 to CU7.

There is only one multi-roled server and whilst PrepSchema, PrepAD and PrepDomain all successfully finish, when it comes to the actual install, it fails on the pre-requisite checks without much insight into why.

I've tried running the installer from PS, cmd, elevated cmd, after reboot, after windows updates, etc but am unable to pass the pre-req checks. Checking the exchange install logs:

Unfortunately this is about as detailed as it gets. I can't figure out why it's thrown the error and there's nothing in the event logs.

Has anyone encountered this before? Or would anyone be able to point me to some more detailed logs?

I have  a clean installed ex2013 server (OS Windows Server 2012r2) and an existing ex2010 server. I intstalled ex2013sp1, after update to CU7. Every time when I reboot the new exchanger I'm getting six error in the application log (Event ID 106 and 1039). The error message language is english and hungarian. I read many articles, but i can't find solution. Is anybody there who has the same issue?

I'm pretty new at installing exchange myself and have never done Exchange 2013

While going through the install help online I came across disjointed domains. I think I'm over thinking this but here is what I have and what I want to do. Any other tips would be great as well. 

Customer currently has a domain, internal dns and email through GoDaddy. Lets call it smallschool.com 

Internally they have a new Active Directory (2012) and the domain is in.smallschool.com. There is no external DNS except GoDaddy. I plan to use that (if that's ok). 

I have built a Hyper-V for Exchange 2013 and have installed pre-requisites. 

My Current Question are...

Do I need to set up dis-joint dns suffix and modify the msds-allowdnssuffix attribute? I have the instructions, I just don't know if this is a must or not with the domain names like they are.

Am I going to run into any trouble switching GoDaddy's email to Exchange Server? Any Tips?

We are in the process of renewing our Exchange SSL certificate, but due to the new CAs requirements we have to modify the internal names to external ones.

However, we will do that on the Exchange server, but shall we initiate a renew process from the Exchange EMC for the old SSL which is about to expire then at the public CA eliminate the internal names. OR Shall we start a completely new Exchange certificate" from the EMC?

When trying to open EMS on all CAS Servers, an error is received -

"The WinRM Shell client cannot process the request. The shell handle passed to the WSMan Shell function is not valid. The shell handle is valid only when WSManCreateShell function completes successfully. Change the request including a valid shell handle and try again."

Most people have solved this by going into the bindings of the Exchange Back End site in IIS and assigning a certificate. There is already a certificate assigned, so that is not the problem. We are using a wildcard certificate, but I don't think that is the problem because I have reassigned the default self signed cert as well as creating a new certificate with the FQDN of the server as the CN and it produces the same results.

I am able to "fix" the error by changing the path of "PowerShell" under the Default Web Site in IIS from "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\PowerShell" to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\PowerShell", but that is not a good solution as I am sure it can cause other problems.

We are running Exchange 2013 CU5. We have four CAS servers spanning two sites (two in each site) and they are all running Server 2008 R2 Standard. All four CAS servers are having the problem. This is an environment I inherited, so I can't say when the error started happening (after initial installation, applying an update, etc.).

I have been trying to troubleshoot why PST Capture 2.0 will not show all of the mailboxes from my Office 365 environment (Exchange Online). 

I am using a global administrator (Who is allowed for the Organization Management role)  in the connection settings and have used the following for the server settings:

smtp.office365.com

smtp.outlook.com

outlook.office365.com

pod#####.outlook.com

however when I used the pod url I was able to view all 50+ mailboxes for about 10 seconds before it only showed roughly 10 mailboxes.  However because the pod url changes it is not reliable. Is there anyway for me to force PST Capture to show all of the mailboxes that it finds?

Our HR department would like to have all employees' photographs available in Outlook. When creating an email message, at the bottom of the email message window there is a list of recipients where their photos can be shown. How do I upload the photos? Does it need to be uploaded to the GAL? I use Exchange 2010/Outlook2010.

I've seen and heard the suggestions about enabling IPv6 on the servers as well as the Domain Controllers which I've done to no avail.  We do not have IPv6 addresses available on our network as we use IPv4 space, but I've heard just having the IPv6 adapter disabled is a lot of times the issue.  So the adapters are set to DHCP even though there's no IPv6 address for it to grab.  The 2008 R2 servers that I'm trying to install Exchange 2013 on are VMs on ESX.  Will the install fail even if it offers to pick up the installation where I left off?  Do I need to completely start from scratch?  Any help would be wonderful!

I'm trying to migrate mailboxes from 2010 -> 2013 and I've com across an odd error.

I've put my skip limit to 5(for bad files), however this error seems to appear regardless. I'm not a Jets DB expert, but not being able to find a row seems quite serious. Any ideas?

Ive finally had a bit of time to play with Exchange 2013! Ive got a lab setup with Exchange 2010 and Ive installed Exchange 2013.

Ive noticed that with my config I have all urls currently pointing to exchange 2010 and it proxies requests dependent on where your mailbox is. All external stuff is pointing to 2013 eg OWA and the 2013 FBA appears and 2013 and 2010 users can login.

My question is, how does the OAB work? I tried to use the Default Offline Address Book (ex2013) for the 2013 DBs that was built during install but I get an error downloading OAB in outlook (internal and external). When I use the ex2010 offline address book all is ok. Ive also noticed the guid folder does not exist for 2013 under Default and Backend websites (this is true even if I try to create a new OAB). I created a standalone Exchange 2013 server (no 2010) and the OAB stuff seemed ok.

Does the OAB not get proxied? During migration do you still use the 2010 OAB until the end and then transfer it?

ADTopology list all child domain dc without error.

setup /ps and /pad run without error.

I am preparing a migration from one Exchange 2013 Cu6 server to another 2013 CU6 server in the same domain in a different  AD site. Each server is HT and MB server, hosting its own DB. There is no DAG between the 2 servers.

I am planning to use coexistence between the servers during the migration when I move mailboxes from one server to the other. The move should be transparent to the users. Outlook should detect the move and find it automatically.

I configured one namespace for all URLs, identical on both servers like "mail.organization.nl" for AS, OA, OWA, ECP and autodiscover.

Would this work? I read here it will: The article is referrning to a DAG spanned over 2 sites, which I do not have.

I have a very interesting problem Exchange 2013 installation step on Hyper-V.

I have 2 server. I installed on server Server 2012 R2 Standart. And then installed hyper-v role for both server.

I created virtual machine for first server and this virtual machine domain controller.

And then I created virtual machine for second server and this virtual machine Exchange 2013.

I installed all prequisites and exchange 2013 finished successfuly. When I opened https://server/ecp it give me http 500 internal error. I checked almost all forums but any recommendation didn't solve my problem.

And then I removed hyper-v role and installed vmware v11. and installed same applications like above.

Very interesting finished installation and opened ecp console. eveythink seen to good.!

Actualy I find problem. 

There is exchange feature installation command on microsoft exchange prequisite. When ruunning this command installing two program on program and feature name is "c++ redistrubutable x64 and x32"

I must uninstall this programs before install unified communication api 4.0.

I cannot see on hyper-v when running this feature.

But I can see on vmware this features on programs and feature.

This is very absurt.

Anybody have an idea for this

We started off our Exchange 2013 environment by building it on CU5. We currently use SSL offloading in conjunction with our load balancer.

We plan on starting to update our environment to CU7 starting tomorrow, and wanted to confirm with somebody who has applied CU's with SSL offloading.

According to this in the first paragraph, you must reconfigure SSL offloading after you apply a CU update:

Can somebody confirm this is the case?  Even if you do the setup.exe /upgrade command line switch?

Any issues setting it back up with the same commands we set it up with originally?  Just wanting to know if there are any gotcha's we should look at for.

From my reading, this would be the only thing we would have to set up back up if it's true.  I really hope it doesn't reset any other settings after the upgrade.

I am having issues receiving any push notification on OWA Apps for Devices. My Exchange server is running 2013 CU7.

Here is what I have done:
- I created an Office 365 Account
- Verified My Domain but did not change any DNS records other than adding the TXT record required
- Followed this guide:

I then removed the last two parameters of StartDate and EndDate, and reran the script and it worked. I don't know if this is the cause of the issue.

- I then tested push notifications in PowerShell with the following:

I got the result of Succeeded.
- I then tried seeing if I'd get any notifications on my phone when receiving new mail, and I couldn't.
