BEAST and POODLE vulnerabilities

I have a new install of Server 2012R2 and Exchange 2013 (no edge server roll installed and nothing else installed on this machine). We are failing our PCI compliance testing with the following failures:

osCommerce allowscross-site scripting

CVE-2003-1219

server is susceptible toBEAST attack

CVE-2011-3389

server is susceptible to SSL POODLE attack

CVE-2014-3566

I have disabled the reg key for SSL 3.0 server, and I am still failing the POODLE vuln.  Can anyone help me with getting past these issues?

Migrating Exchange 2007 PFs to Exchange 2013

$

I am  in the process of migration from Exchange 2007->2013 and just completed the mailbox moves. I'm moving on to the PF migration part. The existing Exch2007 PFs are very small, a couple of contact lists and a shared company calendar. All of the procedures I've found for the PF migration seem very involved. My initial thoughts were to just export each PF to pst, delete the PFs, then create new PFs with the same names on Exch2013 and import the pst's. A simple task, too simple to get away with?

I'm concerned that users may get pop up errors when the Exch2007 PFs are taken offline. I need to accomplish this and make it seemless to Outlook users.

Any thoughts and/or comments are appreciated.

Can't find a definitve answer on TechNet:

Exchange 2013 SP1 deployment

What's the implications for deployment on Server 2012 vs Server 2012 R2?

(License issue stopping use of Server 2012 R2)

Any loss of functionality by going non-R2?

hi team,

Migration of Exchange 2007 PFs to Exchange 2013

Does migrating Exchange 2007 PFs to Exchange 2013 cause any errors or warnings to the Outlook clients?

Is it possible to migrate just by exporting PFs from 2007 and importing them into new 2013 PFs? I can't find anything using this procedure so assume its not a good way to go about it. The PFs I'm migrating are only a few and don't have much data in them.

Exchange transition - Disjoint namespace with an underscore in the netbios name

$

I have been struggling to find out if our disjoint namespace is supported for our exchange 2003 to 2010 transition or guidance on how to fix when the NetBIOS name includes an underscore.

Our single AD DNS domain is called our-domain.com

our NetBIOS name is OUR_DOMAIN

I cannot add OUR_DOMAIN as a dns suffix because of the underscore.

any advice or guidance would be very appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I have a simple question which i can not find on the internet.

Is it possible to use www.domain.email for the external URL's?
Normally you would use email.domain.com, but we want to try it different since the domain is ending on .email

Kind regards,
Justin

Exchange 2013 Post Migration Tasks

$

We are migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We plan on having 4 servers with all roles on each of the servers.

Exchange 2013 Installation Tasks

a) Install the 1st exchange 2013 CAS & MBX role on the 1st server.
b) Install the SSL UC certificate
c) Use Split DNS methodology to avoid using the server names in the certifcates.
d) point all DNS to the new server
e) create a firewall rule to nat all mail.domain.com to this new server IP
f) configure all the internal and external urls on this server
g) setup the IIS same as the exchange 2007 server

Kindly add to the above if there are any post installation tasks to the above

Now my questions are

1. Do I need to move the OAB from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013
2. Do I need to perform all of the above tasks on the 2nd 3rd and 4th exchange 2013 servers

3. What must be the DNS entries for the 2nd 3rd & 4th exchange servers?

Hello,

I have a network with:
* AD based on Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard
* Exchange 2013 CU5 Standard [ migrated from Exchange 2010 ].

Recently DC with Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter was added and then I saw issue:
  When I open Exchange EAC -> Recipients -> Mailboxes -> (Edit Mailbox X ) -> Mailbox Delegation
  then I see message:

warning

The object company.com/OU/X has been corrupted, and it's in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened:
________________________________________
The access control entry defines the ObjectType '91e647de-d96f-4b70-9557-d63ff4f3ccd8' that can't be resolved..

I googled a little bit and found at site:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc223204.aspx

that Object = 91E647DE-D96F-4B70-9557-D63FF4F3CCD8 is named:  Private Information
and is present in AD DS Forestst with Windows 2008 or higher OS.

Can this message be safely ignored, or should I take any precautions ?
My domain will be upgraded soon to version 2012 R2, old DCs will be removed.

Add Server 2012 Exchange 2013 to Server 2008 Domain

$

Hi

I'm trying to find out if this is possible.

I have an existing server (Server 2008 R2 AD Domain Controller) and I want to add an Exchange server (Server 2012 with Exchange 2013) to the same domain to utilise the active directory from existing server.

Is it possible to add the Server 2012 server box as a secondary DC (or similar) so that Exchange can run off the existing active directory form the Server 2008 box.

The reason I want to do this is to reduce the total cost of ownership by not having to buy more server user CAL's (instead use the ones we already own).

Folders on D drive despite installing Exchange 2013 on the E drive.

2 folder were created during install of Exchange 2013.

  • D:\MonitoringDiagnosticLogs\MSExchangeHMHost
  • D:\TransportRoles\Logs\SyncHealth

I have read several sites about Microsoft is aware of this.

The question  also has been asked, when is there going to be a fix?

1 Why would any folders be created anywhere except where Exchange is installed?

2 How to move those folders to the E drive? ( I read it is hardcoded to the D drive )
