I can expand Exchange 2007 Public Folders internally from a mailbox on 2013, but outside when doing the same procedure I get an error that I can't expand the Public Folders.
I'm trying to figure out right now if externally the usage of Public Folders is handled by the virtual directory /Public from the legacy servers. To check I was trying to go to the legacy virtual directory and can't access it from the legacy url. I only seem to be able to access the URL on the HUB itself. http://localhost/public.
I wanted to look at my config for the Public folder virtual directory but for some reason can't think of the powershell command on how to configure it. Ugh...

Hi,
I have been trying to install Exchange Server 2013 on a virtual Windows 2012 R2 Server that is part of AD but not DC. Another W2012 R2 virtual machine is running as the only DC in the network.
Setup stops during AD prepare (GUI & CLI) and gives me a class violation error. My system is in German but it pretty much goes like this (translation to English by me):
=====================================================

I have to add that I had experimented with Zentyal before we decided to get Exchange. I believe it imitates an Exchange 2000 Server using OpenChange. Zentyal was first added as additional DC. It was removed by hand when we decided to with Exchange.
I looked at quite a lot of posts but haven't found a solution yet.
Does anybody have an idea to solve this problem?
Thanks and best regards,
Eggbert
I'm having trouble with external authentication. Users are getting a prompt for credentials. I'm not sure if this is normal or not for a pc not joined to the domain. I don't think it is.
I'm testing by creating a new profile on my pc at home. I follow the Outlook 2007 wizard for exchange. Setup my email address and password. After it starts going through autodiscover I get an authentication prompt. I type in my domain creds and everything connects.
I'm guessing this has something to do with the authentication enabled on the servers. I'm using NTLM and Basic.
I'm also having problems with Public Folders expanding externally as well. If that is any hint on what is wrong.
Everything inside works as planned.
I'm using ARR 3.0 for my proxy.

Migrating from 2007 to 2013. Can create migration batch in console and it initially says syncing with total mailboxes listed.
After about 10 minutes, it goes complete but totals are ZERO.
Seen this before when there are outstanding move requests but get-moverequest reports zero. We've done a bit of playing around with these users so I'm wondering if theres a user flag somewhere here.
Apart from this we've experimented with turning off content indexing and replication for the destination 2013 server (but its all set back to standard now).
Not even sure where to find migration log files to check why its doing this? Any ideas?
After succesfull moving mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 (single all role servers in same Forest/AD) error messages are displayed in the eventviewer:
source: MSExchange Management Application
id: 5000
Failed to save admin audit log for this cmdlet invocation.
Organization: First Organization
Log content:

Caller: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM (MSExchangeMailboxReplication)

For more details, see the inner exception. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. –> The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure..
I do have installed a valid 3rd party certificate, all works well on both servers (2010 and 2013). How to fix this before I migrate all other mailboxes from 2010 to 2013?
Thnx Remco
Hi Team,
I had question, I want to deploy Exchange 2013 DR DAG, and I have to calculate WAN bandwith requirement from HQ to DR
for example this case, I have 4 database, total that 4 database generate 10.000 log per day (1mb size per log)
how much bandwith I have to provide ? for this example requirement
I hope you can give me basic formula :)
Thanks
Hi everyone,
We are currently investigating to add an Edge server to our network.
Our current setup is:
2x DC (Server 2012 R2)
2x HUBCAS Exchange 2013 with DB sync (Server 2012 R2)
I cannot find an article on how to add a Edge server to an existing network and transfer the settings or other data which is needed.
Can anyone help me out?

Stiil we are facing the same issue. . .
Please suggest what changes need to be done . ...
IMAP crashed and not working after applying the CU10 on top of Exchange 2013 CU10. I read the KB that "This issue occurs because Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) does not support the generic security services application programming interface (GSSAPI) as an authentication mechanism in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 environment "
and I tried to enable Set-IMAPSettings –EnableGSSAPIAndNTLMAuth:$FALSE
and no luck, still IMAP asking for a credentials again and again. POP is working fine.
I can see the IMAP protocol log, there are msgs
"IN:9933:SSL;ErrMsg=ProxyNotAuthenticated;LiveIdAR=OK""
"authenticate,NTLM,"R=""l7z2 NO AUTHENTICATE failed."";"

Hi,
I'm working on a hybrid deployment (fully patched on premise exchange 2013) to have a smooth move to exchange online. Atm I can move users to the cloud and the normal mail flow is running. Everything is fine so far.
The next steps will be:
Ok, tried to work with that: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn986544(v=exchg.150).aspx
But... I got some questions:
Step 1: When I allready got public folder mailboxes: Why should I make new one? Is this on premise? Or do I have to make them in exchange online?
If I don't need to make new PF: Step4: Did that and I get from outlook a conflict that they couldnt access the server with the public folders.
As we plan to upgrade our Exchange 2013 SP1 (CU4) to CU9, we also planned to update the .NET Framework to 4.5.2 (so we could use MAPI/HTTP, etc.).
Exchange 2013 is running on Windows 2012 Standard (not R2).
Now we see that .NET Framework 4.6 is available.
Has Microsoft verified that 4.6 will work well with CU9 ?
On the Exchange 2013 CU9 servers, should we use .NET Framework 4.6 ?
Thanks

I know there isn't a migration path for Exchange 2003 but has anyone tried any type of work around? I'm thinking about moving one of my customers users mailboxes to PST files and them importing them into Exchange 2013 on a 2012 server. Has anyone had any experience doing this? Below are the details of what I have and what I was thinking about doing:
Small Network - approx. 10 users
Server 2003 Sp3 standalone AD DC with Exchange 2003
Would like to move straight to Server 2012 with Exchange 2013
If I export the mailboxes and uninstall Exchange from the 2003 server will Server 2012 join the domain and upgrade the existing AD schema (forest and domain)? If it would, could I then install Exchange 2013 on that server, create the mailboxes for the users and import the PST files?
Just wondering if anyone has tried this, or something similar. They don't have an extra server to move everything to 2010 first so it's either a workaround or move them to Exchange 2010 (which Microsoft has quit selling). I'm sure this will put a lot of small business VARs in a bad situation.
(Just as a side note) Is it true that Dell and HP have quit selling Windows 7 Pro? My vendor still sells it and will for 18 more months.
Hi everyone.
I have a scenario where I need to migrate approx. 30,000 linked mailboxes to office 365.
Below is the scenario...
I have two forest. Forest A and Forest B.
Forest A have all user accounts
Forest B have all Linked mailboxes and exchange server configured with mixed set of exchange 2010 & 2013.
Now, I want to directly migrate all linked mailboxes to single Office 365 tenant without converting them first to user mailbox in forest A. also, I want to configure a hybrid deployment with this.
I have also gone through some articles saying that multi forest migration is supported by using AADsync/DIRsync utility by setting up some filtering options.
I just want to know that if linked mailbox migration to office 365 and setting up the hybrid deployment with this is possible?
Is it officially supported from Microsoft?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sandeep Tiwari. (Sandy)
I have built a new 2012r2 server, which will be our new exchange server, I have completed all prereqs for installation of exchange 2013, when running the initial system checks I receive an error that exchange 2013 cannot be installed because there is a exchange 2000 or 2003 existing on the domain. well the problem is I don't have either one of those servers, we are running exchange 2007 on a win server 2003std. before I came onboard they were running exchange 2000 and upgraded to exchange 2007. I have went into adsiedit.msc and searched for any ref of a exchange 2000 server. and nothing exists. This is a brand new server with nothing but the 2012r2. There are no other exchange servers on my network. How can I get by this issue and complete my install. where else can I search on the network for old exchange remnants? Is there a work around?
Thanks for your help

Hi Guys,
Question regarding email server migration, since I'm new to mail server migration from zimbra. Need help for this one, starting from the pre requirement for the exchange server it self and tool to perform the migration.
his project will perform next month.
Thx.

Hi,
I know that cross forest migration is much easy after Exchange 2010 PowerShell capability but slightly confused about linked mailbox migration.
Requirement is as below
1. Central Datacenter is having AD parent Domain abc.com and child domaincountry.abc.com. Exchange 2013 environment implemented for all central users.
2. Some country of organization have their own Exchange environment which is implemented altogether on separate AD forest and Exchange Organization- SMTP Domain ascountry.xyz.com
3. Users in xyz.com are having linked mailbox which means their AD account is in child Domain (country.abc.com)
4. Now the requirement is to migrate all country mailbox to central Exchange environment.
5. Since Central AD is having Child domain for each country as country.abc.com and its respective AD users for each country, we just wanted to migrate Mailbox from remote country setup to central Exchange setup.
6. SMTP domain name of remote country will not be changed at this stage and it needs to be continues as same after moving to central Exchange Servers as well.
My confusion here is-
when we already have a AD account in child domain, will there be any issue/challenge in migrating mailbox from remote forest exchange organization?
Pls suggest the way ahead
Central setup is Exchange 2013 and remote country are having Exchange 2010

I upgraded our two exchange servers to build 15.0.1104.5 and afterwards I cannot get into the management shell on one of them. Everything else seems to be working fine like the ECP and I'm able to manage it through EMS through the other server. Below is the error message I'm getting and I have found very little on it when searching. I would appreciate any assistance.

Hi all,
Due to the POODLE vulnerability and TLS 1.0 showing as enabled on one of our external scans, we were informed that we would need to disable SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 on our Exchange server.
Apparently, this wouldn't even be possible until Update Rollup 9 was released on 3/16/15:
Rollup resolves:
After installing this update, SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 were disabled and the servers rebooted (cross site, same domain, two Exchange servers). After resolving some issues with certificates that apparently broke as a result of the changes, we found that EWS was not working - the log full of these errors:
Process 5776: ProxyWebRequest CrossSite from S-1-5-21-3895483984-2032760896-3917300074-1259 tohttps://mail.exchange.com:443/ews/exchange.asmx failed. Caller SIDs: NetworkCredentials. The exception returned is Microsoft.Exchange.InfoWorker.Common.Availability.ProxyWebRequestProcessingException: System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
------------------------------------------------------
The EWS directory in IIS on both servers are set to use Anonymous and Windows Authentication. The main issues observed outside of the above errors was that free/busy information could not be viewed.
After rebuilding the EWS virtual directory and a couple reboots later, we tried enabling TLS 1.0 on both servers, rebooted, and there were no more EWS errors to be found - free/busy was also working.
So it appears that although this rollup allows SMTP to use TLS 1.1 or 1.2, EWS is still attempting to use TLS 1.0, and I don't see that it is possible to change this
