X-OWA-Error: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.NotSupportedWithServerVersionException can't access 2007 mailbox from 2013 server

$

This one is driving me absolutely crazy,  hours and hours spent on this with no luck.  This is 2007/2013 env.  The issue is, if I move a mailbox to 2007 then 2013 OWA is fine, then if I move the mailbox back to 2007 I can't access the mailbox via OWA when going through a 2013 CAS server.  yes I've read the posts about permissions inheritance etc.. yes I've cranked up AD and OWA logging nothing.. yes I've imported the IIS logs into log parser and I'm seeing various errors mostly 302.  Yes, I've ruled out 2007 servers, it's 2013.  If I recreate the mailbox it works then when move back and forth from 2007 to 2013 problem re-appears.  Yes, I have dumped AD attributes and compared them with working and non working mailbox can't find anything.  Yes, I've rebooted servers.  Yes this happens with multiple mailboxes.

In fact I have this example right now makes no sense.  I have two 2013 servers, if I go through the 2013 servers CAS servers to access the mailbox using OWA that resides on the 2007 server, it works through one server and the other it doesn't with the above errors.  I'd love to hear suggestions.. I'm at the end of my rope

Coexistence. Exchange 2013 OWA/ECP connectivity problems for Exchange 2010 mailbox users.

Hi! I'm in the process of migration from Exchange 2010 (Version 14.3 Build 123.4) to Exchange 2013 SP1 (Version 15.0 Build 847.32).

My Exchange 2010 Infrastructure Includes 2 MBX servers in dag, 2 Hub transport servers and 2 Cas servers in CAS Array.
My Exchange 2013 Infrastructure includes 2 MBX+CAS servers in dag and 2 separate CAS servers.
All Exchange 2013 servers were deployed. There were no any issues with Prepare Schema and Prepare AD process.
The virtual directories settings on Exchange 2010 and 2013 are the same (I have split brain settings for all virtual directories and the names are the same for Exchange 2013 and exchange 2010). Arbitrage mailbox is on Exchange 2010 Now.

So, when everything will be ready and tested I plan to switch my DNS records from Exchange 2010 CAS to Exchange 2013 CAS servers and begin to move mailboxes to Exchange 2013 databases. Now everyone wors in Exchange 2010 Infrastructure and I test new exchange Cas servers by pointing test User to Exchange 2013 CAS including DNS records in host file.

What is the problem!
When I try to login to Exchange 2013 owa or ecp with user whose mailbox sits on Exchange 2010 Database a get  HTTP 500 Error (Website cannot display the page). This error shows immediately. I checked with Wireshark what Exchange 2013 even doesn't try to proxy owa request to Exchange 2010 CAS. But I see in Wireshark and Exchange 2010 IIS log that there is HttpProxy.ClientAccessServer2010Ping traffic between the servers and responses for OWA and ECP is OK.
So I went to Exchange2013 HTTPProxy logs C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging\HttpProxy\Owa and found the problem. It is below

CorrelationID=<empty>;BeginRequest=2016-02-11T16:30:30.297Z;ProxyState-Run=None;ProxyState-Complete=CalculateBackEnd;I32:ATE.C[DC01.company.local]=4;F:ATE.AL[DC01.company.local]=0;I32:ADS.C[DC01]=1;F:ADS.AL[DC01]=1.5684;I32:ADR.C[DC01]=3;F:ADR.AL[DC01]=1.067833HttpProxyException=Microsoft.Exchange.HttpProxy.HttpProxyException: The database with ID 619169dd-2b6f-413f-b089-498df9ebb34a couldn't be found. ---> Microsoft.Exchange.Data.ApplicationLogic.Cafe.MailboxServerLocatorException:The database with ID 619169dd-2b6f-413f-b089-498df9ebb34a couldn't be found.    at Microsoft.Exchange.Data.ApplicationLogic.Cafe.MailboxServerLocator.BeginGetServer(AsyncCallback callback  Object asyncState)    at Microsoft.Exchange.HttpProxy.ProxyRequestHandler.InternalBeginCalculateTargetBackEnd(AnchorMailbox& anchorMailbox)    at Microsoft.Exchange.HttpProxy.ProxyRequestHandler.<BeginCalculateTargetBackEnd>b__30()    --- End of inner exception stack trace ---;

So, exchange 2013 cas gets mailbox 2010 database GUID for the mailbox but can't find that mailbox in AD? It's is very strange! I checked AD replication either this GUID. Everything is OK with it and I can find it with get-mailboxdatabase.
I'm thinking about installing latest CU to Exchange 2013. If someone knows the solution I would be very appreciate for sharing it.

P.S. Outlook works fine through Exchange 2013 CAS.

Exchange 2013 multitenant - All users continuously propted for password

Our company is b.com.  Our parent company is a.com.  We have an Exchange 2013 server.  It is configured to receive mail for both domains, and all of  our users have email addresses in both domains.  When our users receive an email at joe@a.com, the parent company forwards it to joe@b.com.  (They use normal DNS lookup; we are not in the same Exchange org/forest/federation as them.) That all works fine.

When our users have their b.com address as their reply address, everything is fine.  When their reply address is a.com, everything functions, but Outlook prompts them for a password for user@a.com every few minutes.  Entering any combination of credentials or formats has no effect.  We used to run Exchange 2007 with no problems, and this began when we installed Exchange 2013 into the environment.

I am guessing it has to do with autodiscover for a.com, which does not and cannot point to our server.

Any thoughts on how to fix this so my users don't have to click X on the password box every 5 minutes all day long?

Non-Domain users fail!!!

Dear Friends,

I'm new to exchange and I'm deploying an Exchange 2013 on a lab environment before going live in production.

The problem I'm facing is killing me as no definite and helpful answers I got online!

I have 2 PCs connected  through a switch. On one I have VMware workstation with 2 clients (Win7 32bit) and one Exchange Server 2013! and the host is windows 10. all the NICs are bridged to the physical and on the same subnet.

on the other one I have Virtual box with my DC on a Win Server 2012, this also has bridged NIC and the host is also windows 10!

All connections are checked with ICMP.

The problem isthe following:

OWA is fine, the clients joined to domain use auto discovery and complete the outlook setup successfully! but non domain PCs can't connect to exchange server! as I press check name on the setup page (I entered server and client name fine) it says the name can not be resolved and the exchange is not online!!!

auto discovery and active sync also fail! and on domain PCs when i try to add multiple accounts only the username I logged in with and is automatically detected succeeds and the others fail!

I also tried on the host (the one with the DC) and the result was the same!

I added multiple fresh clients and tested multiple times!

The Ping using FQDN is fine and the name of the server gets resolved!

(I use FQDN of the Exchange machine for the server on the outlook setup page for exchange and the username with the @domainname.com)

FYI: the outlook is 2013

Please help me find a solution...

Regards

Permissions on calendar : Linked mailbox in distribution group

$

Hi,
We have recently migrated users to linked mailbox on a new exchange 2013 server.  We have discovered something strange with sharing calendars.
When we try to share availability with a mail security enabled group that contains linked mailbox, it is impossible to view the other calendar (on Owa or Outlook 2010 & 2013).
We can solve this issue by put directly the user (linked mailbox) and assign permissions to it.

Someone has ever seen this behaviour ?

If you have some others questions, don't hesitate !

Setup /m:recoverserver fails because of missing ScriptingAgentConfig.xml

Lost one of our mailbox servers and trying to rebuild.

We use an edited ScriptingAgentConfig.xml file (to disable IMAP for new users) which resides in bin/CmdletExtensionAgetns.

So I build the new server and run setup /m:recoverserver. But the install knows about this file and aborts the setup because it can't find this file. Of course, it can't this is a new server being rebuilt!

How on earth do I get around this? I can't place the file there in advance because, of course, there is no file structure before I install CU11....

Installing CU11 Failed with Error 1603 - Corrupt Installation

Hi,

I crashed an Exchange 2013 Installation on Server 2012 R2 while installing the CU11. It stopped during step 3 with a fatal error, code 1603. I can repeat this error when trying to install it again. The Services are disabled now, and I'm unsure about the versions of the binaries.

As far as I could Google for it, the 1603 is a generic MSI Installation error code. I am not able to get more details for it. The last lines of the Setup log from the installer are:

Recovering MB server - failing. Can I just rebuild as new and re-add to DAG?

Getting problems doing setup /m:recoverserver.

If I wanted to just perform a simple install how easy is it? I guess its easy enough to perform an install but the old server needs to be removed from ADSIEdit?

How about then adding a new server to an existing DAG? Easy?

Or I persist with setup /m:recoverserver for now?

Hi,

I want to know the best practice procedure to install and deploy Exchange server 2013 on a standalone server:

- Roles needed to be installed
- Number of partition on the server
- Number of Network card on server (i.e. LAN and Internet)

How to configure the incoming and outgoing protocol SMTP/POP3

Any additional recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Exchange 2013 autodiscover not redirecting from 443 to 444

Hello

I have exchange 2013 server with CAS and mailbox roles.

As i understand CAS listens on 443 port (Default web site) and mailbox on 444 (back end)

I am not able access autodiscover directory. If i browse to:

https://exchange2013server/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

I get HTTP 400 error:

This error (HTTP 400 Bad Request) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the web server, but the webpage could not be found because of a problem with the address.

If i browse to:

https://exchange2013server:444/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

Everything works fine.

Why i am not redirected from 443 to 444 port when trying to access https://exchange2013server/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml ?

Running Exchange 2013 in a hybrid environment. When I use nslookup and typing set q=mx then typing domain I don't get any mx records. If I type set q=mx type server 8.8.8.8 , enter domain I get 3 mx records. I have verified that mx records exist in local DNS. Where would I start looking for the problem?

Thanks in advance

OWA Slow

Good Day

We are running in Coexistence  2010 - 2013

Both serves are patched with latest Cumulative updates

We We migrated users and owa seems very responsive.

We we continue to migrate more and more users ( 90 Persent of the Users use OWA) owa seems very slow.  I connect to the Server Directly and got to https://servername/owa and it just a turtle with crunches..

II noticed when this is happening that the IIS Workers uses lots of CPU....

Anything that can caused this behavior.

A few things..  We have a load balancer ( loadbalancer.org).  currently pointing to one server only as the other MB/CAS is not in service yet.

Same issue happens if we bypass the Loadbalancer..

Server 2012 R2 runnig  EX 2013 SP1 enterprise .  we have 26 DBs mounted.

Which are the recommended steps for uninstalling the servers: First Exchange 2010 and then Exchange 2013?

Error in Queue Viewer: 451 4.4.0 DNS query failed. The error was: SMTPSEND.DNS.NonExistentDomain; nonexistent domain

Dear community,

We run a small business and are in the process of setting up and evaluating the Exchange server to replace our current email setup. Windows server and the Exchange server with the MAPILab POP3 Connector snapin are up and running, but we have an issue:

  • The emails are downloaded successfully using POP3.
  • The emails are sent via the SMTP connector. The log file shows that the send was successful. Btw, this connector was created by the MAPILab deployment wizard, and it is a "receive connector", not a send connector.
  • The emails are in the Exchange Queue, due to an error called "451 4.4.0 DNS query failed. The error was: SMTPSEND.DNS.NonExistentDomain; nonexistent domain"
  • The emails remain in the queue for about 8-10 hours and then they are delivered to the designated mailbox.

NOTE: The Exchange server is not a public email server (i.e. it does not send/receive emails from outside). Instead, we use theMAPILab POP3 Connector to download emails from a POP3 server and deliver the emails to an inbox on Exchange. Users then connect to Exchange using Outlook to view the emails.

Any help to sort this out would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Richard
