Exchange 2013 requirements role calculater

$

Hi,

I am trying to input my values into the 2013 calculater but seem to be making a mess of any of my basic inputs. Can anybody help on these please.

Basically I have SiteA and SiteB

All servers virtual and collocated

Site A = 2 x servers

Site B = 2 servers

I will have two DAGs one servicing SiteA and the other serviceing SiteB

DAGA will have active/active mailboxes in SiteA and passive mailbox in SiteB

DAGB will have active/active mailboxes in SiteB and passive mailboxes in SiteB

So basically I am giving each site HA + DR

Please help with the inputs

Thanks

ECP & OWA - Blank pages

Hi All,

I followed the Exchange help files to ensure that all forest, domain and local server pre-requisites were installed, in the correct order, with time being allowed for replication of changes across the forest. The install went well with no errors reported. I am however having an issue with accessing the ECP (OWA behaves the same) in that the URL changes to https://serverFQDN/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=https%3a%2f%2fserverFQDN%2fecp&reason=0 ( originally entered as https://serverFQDN/ecp )and all that is produced is a blank page.

Environment:

Windows Server 2008 R2 (all updates applied) freshly installed in a child domain using a Domain Admin account granted Enterprise and Schema admin rights and added to the Organisation Management group. No previous Exchange organisation existed as this is a freshly configured (pre-production) environment that I intend to migrate into. Both the MAilbox and CAS server roles are installed, the server has 16 GB of RAM

Following research on the web I have already tried:

  • Uninstalling and re-installing Windows Identity Foundation
  • Checking the mailbox for corruption using the EMS. The mailbox seemed ok but to be sure I created a new user, ran the enable-mailbox command, added the user to the Organisation Management group but still get exactly the same issue
  • Running %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -ir
  • Using the EMS to perform a Test-EcpConnectivity, it failed even with the test user created with the supplied creation script

I can't find any consistent entries in the event logs. Any suggestions?

Exchange 2013 - CU2 Install Fail - Error code is 1603

Error:
Unable to remove product with code 4934d1ea-be46-48b1-8847-f1af20e892c1. Fatal error during installation. Error code is 1603. Last error reported by the MSI package is 'Unable to install because a previous Interim Update for Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 1 has been installed.  Please use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the Interim Update before running this setup again.'.

The install hangs here after it has disabled a number of services. I have to go back in and re-enable the services to bring Exchange back online. However, smtp still does not respond devices other than itself.

1. How do I get SMTP back online with that server

2. How can I get CU2 installed. My understanding is that uninstalling CU1 means removing Exchange entirely which I do not want to do.

I have a 2 server environment with 2 databases and a single DAG.

2007 to 2013 Mailbox migrations hang at 95%

We are in the process of migrating from 2007 to 2013. 2013 is installed with CU2, new mailboxes created on 2013 work fine, mail is routing between both servers, etc. The only issue we seem to be having is we can't migrate mailboxes from 2007 to 2013. We are testing migration with test email accounts with just a couple emails in them. We have several databases on the 2007 server and we've created several new ones on 2013, regardless of what database we try and migrate from and what database we try and migrate to we have the same problem. The status just sits at "Syncing" and when I use Exchange PS with the Get-MoveRequestStatistics on the mailbox it shows StatusDetail-Finalization and PercentComplete-95%. The Mailbox size is only 6k.

Set ShadowRedundancyEnabled false after single server 2010 to 2013 migration?

We've just completed a migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013 in a single-server environment (well, there was one of each but now 2010 has been uninstalled).  We're running SCOM 2012 and it's reporting the following:

Alert: Health Set unhealthy

Alert description: The total number of messages rejected due to shadow failure over the last 15 minutes exceeds 10

I don't find a matching event in the server log, so I wonder if this is a false alert in SCOM.

From what I've read (http://msexchangeguru.com/2013/04/22/transport/) the Shadow Redundancy doesn't work in a single-server environment and my guess is that it was enabled during our migration from 2010 to 2013.  Should I run "Set-TransportConfig -ShadowRedundancyEnabled $false" now to avoid these errors?  I'm not seeing Shadow Redundancy in the queue like I was during the migration.

Get-TransportConfig shows ShadowRedundancyEnabled:true and RejectMessageonShadowFailure:false.

It also shows the IP address of the old decommissioned 2010 server for "InternalSMTPServers", maybe that's the problem?

Migrating Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 without public folders

Hello all,

I'm in the planning fase of and Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2013 migration with an "stopover" on Exchange 2010 as an direct migration cannot be done.

The thing is that the client doesn't use their public folder structure in Exchange 2003 and all clients are outlook 2007 and above. So in the new situation public folders won't be necessary.

But I cannot find information on two subjects

  1. Are there any issues I'd might expect when upgrading to Exchange 2010 without creating an public folder database when the web distribution has been set up properly?
  2. How can you uninstall Exchange 2003 without using things like the "moveallreplicas.ps1" script (which requires me to create an PF database on Exchange 2010), because the exchange uninstall will no doubt throw an error stating that the public folders haven't been replicated?

My purpose is to keep the new Exchange enviroment so clean as possible without traces of old legacy components.

I'm finding enough posts on moving the PF but none about not moving it.

Exchange 2013 Remove-MailboxExportRequest error: Cannot process argument 'identity'

I have exported several mailboxes from Exchange 2013 to a PST file. Now I want to remove the export requests, since they have completed successfully. I tried

get-mailboxexportrequest | remove-mailboxexportrequest

and I get the following error:

Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'Identity'. Cannot convert value "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" to type
"Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.MailboxExportRequestIdParameter". Error: "This IdParameter cannot find an object of the specified type.
Parameter name: identity"
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidData: (uiu.uiu.edu/UIU-Users/UIU-Staff/WalkerA\:PSObject) [Remove-MailboxExportRequest], ParameterBindin...mationException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ParameterArgumentTransformationError,Remove-MailboxExportRequest
    + PSComputerName        : servername.domain.edu

So I run

Get-mailboxexportrequest

And I see that the name and Identity of the moves are empty, completely.

Using remove-mailboxexportrequest alias\mailboxexport0 doesn't work either.

Using remove-mailboxexportrequest with the requestGUID parameters doesn't work either.

How can I remove this request?

Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 SP3 update cannot find installation package exchangeserver.msi file on SBS 2011... NEED HELP!!!

Hello,

I am running a windows SBS 2011 standard system and there was currently an update for Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 Service Pack 3 and it keeps failing.  It says that it cannot find the installation package (exchangeserver.msi) and it is looking for it in E:\Software\Exchange2010-SP3-x64\ folder but there never was this folder.  There is only an Exchange2010-SP3-x64.exe file.

The only exchangeserver.msi file that I find on the server any where is in C:\ProgramFiles\Windows Small Business Server\Bin\CMPNENTS\EXCHANGE14_SP1 but it won't accept it (says not authorized for this update or something alike).

Please help.  It is currently causing issues with email.  Some of the features are not working because it says exchange is currently under maintenance.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Recommendations for Exchange 2013 with same email domain, but different countries

We currently have our main Exchange servers in Germany, but have multiple locations in the United States.  We have MPLS connections to Germany, but they are fairly slow, and we have other traffic besides Exchange on these connections.

When setting up a new computer for a user in the US, it takes multiple days for Outlook to copy the mail down for the first time setup (and with the speed, we definitely want the local cache).

I was thinking it may improve performance by setting up a server at the main location in the United States.  I'm assuming we can configure exchange to forward all incoming mail for the US accounts would from the German Exchange server to US server.

Would this be a recommended setup?  Any suggestions for best practices or making this as efficient as possible?

Thank you!

PF migration 2007 to 2013

I have followed http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx in migrating our modest PF on Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 (we are sitting on a co-existence at the moment).

After step 7 and on Step 8, when I set myown account as test and opened Outlook, I was greeted with the below message when I tried to open our PF from Outlook 2010 (KB2596517 is already updated and this was working from Mailbox 2013 and opening the PF on 2007 fine )

"The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed."

I ignored the error (alas!) and completed Step 8 only to realise the error persisted. After which I had to follow the steps for roll back but the error persisted. I had to dismount the PF on 2007 and re-mount it to bring it back online.

Anyone else having similar issues and any advise?

Many thanks,

Ramu

Hi,
I cant for the life of me seem to be able to get
this to work. I require the following

dub Site  = 2 x collocated 2013
lon Site =  2 x collocated 2013
2 x DAGS

dub Users will have DAG1 with their active mailbox in dub and passive in lon
lon Users will have DAG2 with their active mailbox in lon and passive in dub

No matter what I do on spreadsheet I only ever see one DAG. Also I never seem to get the correct distribution diagram when I select
active/active multiple dags. If I select active/active single dag the distribution diagram looks good.?

No matter what I do only 1 dag is ever listed and the other has an cross line going through it.

DAG Database Base   Name

Exchange 2013 autodiscover not redirecting from 443 to 444

Hello

I have exchange 2013 server with CAS and mailbox roles.

As i understand CAS listens on 443 port (Default web site) and mailbox on 444 (back end)

I am not able access autodiscover directory. If i browse to:

https://exchange2013server/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

I get HTTP 400 error:

This error (HTTP 400 Bad Request) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the web server, but the webpage could not be found because of a problem with the address.

If i browse to:

https://exchange2013server:444/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

Everything works fine.

Why i am not redirected from 443 to 444 port when trying to access https://exchange2013server/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml ?

Exchange 2013 Public Folder

I am in the middle of migrating from Exchange 2010 to 2013 but having some problems migrating public folders, but because I only got a few, I decided to move them by PST – but now I am not able to create the public folder mailbox on the 2013 server.

new-Mailbox -PublicFolder -Name PFMailbox

returns ->

An existing Public Folder deployment has been detected. To migrate existing Public Folder data, create new Public Folder mailbox using -HoldForMigration switch.

I can create the PF if I use the switch but the I cannot create any folders

No active public folder mailboxes were found. This happens when no public folder mailboxes are provisioned or they are provisioned in 'HoldForMigration' mode. If you're not currently performing a migration, create a public folder mailbox.

Get-OrganizationConfig | fl PublicFoldersLockedforMigration -> PublicFolderMigrationComplete  : False

Thank you in advance

Exchange 2010 Branch Office Setup

I am currently planning on setting up a branch office for a client.

Head office has a domain controller and a exchange 2010 server.

The two offices are already linked with site to site VPN.

I am planning on installing a server at the branch office for the purpose of a domain controller and exchange server.

Exchange will be setup with DAG to replicate between the two exchange servers

Brach office will have its own mail store database

My question is what roles are required on the branch office exchange server to have the branch office users connect to their mailbox directly on their server

Thanks

I'm trying to install 2013 on a 2008R2 domain controller logged on as an enterprise admin.

I keep getting 1603 errors  "could not open key".   I have uninstalled and tried again multiple times after resetting permissions on what ever key is mentioned

I've tried every article I could google.

I'm missing something.

Anyone have any ideas?

The MX value doesn't match one of the allowed values:mail.eo.outlook.com,mail.protection.outlook.com,mail.messaging.microsoft.com,invalid.outlook.com

We are migrating to Office 365.  I ran the Office 365 Exchange DNS Connectivity test and received the following failure:

The MX value "name of the host server" doesn't match one of the allowed values:mail.eo.outlook.com,mail.protection.outlook.com,mail.messaging.microsoft.com,invalid.outlook.com

I checked the DNS entries both internally and externally and the MX records are correct.  The spellings are correct.

I hear this is a DNS issue, but I'm wondering is this an issue with the Office 365 Connectivity Analyzer instead?

Exchange 2013 deleted .local ssl cert, now having problems

i installed a trusted SSL cert from godaddy on an Exchange 2013 server. Without thinking i removed all the other SSL certs that were listed in the ECP under Certificates, leaving only the godaddy cert.

Now ECP or OWA wont load, and I know its becuase i deleted the cert that was for the .local domain.

I could rekey a godaddy cert and add the .local as a SAN but id rather not do that since godaddy will expire certs using .local on 11/2014, whats my other option?

Global Address Book Not Updating Company Wide After Migration

$

We recently Migrated from a Server running Microsoft Server 2003 (Exchange 2003) to Microsoft Server 2012 (Exchange 2010). A week or two after the migration completed we started noticing that any new Active Directory additions or changes were not being reflected within the Global Address Book.

Example:
We added Lisa Smith a week ago to Active Directory and when we go into any version of Outlook to "TO:" we do not see Lisa in there under the Global Address Book.  But if we select All Users, she is in there.

So far we have tried Going into Organization Configuration --> Offline Address Book --> and Added a New Default Offline Address List.

We have run the Manual Update and waited the 24 Hour window and seeing no change.  Any recommendations on where we can start?  We are not Advanced Exchange Users, please keep this in mind.

Exchange 07, 2 AD Domains, 1 07 Exchange, 1 AD Site, Move to 2 AD Sites and Services Sites.

$

I currently have (Active Directory) a.domain and b.domain.  I have a.domain and b.domain email addresses.  a.domain has its own DCs (IP range 192.168.1.x) and b.domain has its own DCs plus 07 exchange server (IP range 192.168.16.x)  Between the two locations I have a 3 meg VPN pipe with 90 ms ping times.  I have 1 Default-First-Site-Name in Active Directory Sites and Services which both domains are assigned.

I want to move each domain to its own Site in AD Sites and Services so at each site users will authenticate with the appropriate DCs.  In addition, I want emails to be submitted correctly to the 07 Exchange Server located in a.domain (192.168.1.x).  Both domains are at 2003 level.
