I am running a windows SBS 2011 standard system and there was currently an update for Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 Service Pack 3 and it keeps failing.  It says that it cannot find the installation package (exchangeserver.msi) and it is looking for it in E:\Software\Exchange2010-SP3-x64\ folder but there never was this folder.  There is only an Exchange2010-SP3-x64.exe file.

The only exchangeserver.msi file that I find on the server any where is in C:\ProgramFiles\Windows Small Business Server\Bin\CMPNENTS\EXCHANGE14_SP1 but it won't accept it (says not authorized for this update or something alike).

Please help.  It is currently causing issues with email.  Some of the features are not working because it says exchange is currently under maintenance.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

We are migrating our server from Exchange 2010 to 2013.    Both servers are in a single AD server environment.

We just set up a new server running 2012 R2 with all the latest patches

We've disabled the firewall on it for now and the one on the 2010 server for now.

2010 can telnet to 2013

2013 can telnet to 2010

2010 can ping 2013 by name - gets the correct internal IP address

2013 can ping 2010 by name - gets the correct internal IP address

I can telnet out from 2013 to any other exchange server outside the network

I can telnet in from any other exchange server in the outside world to the 2013 server

I migrated one test mailbox from the old server to the new server.

When I send an email from the 2010 server to the 2013 server with the test mailbox I get the message stuck in the queue - 

Queue - Hub version 15 451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with 421 4.2.1 unable to connect.

There are no other messages in the queue but that 1 that I just sent  - no other outstanding queues

When I do a test-mailflow from 2010server to 2013server I get 

When I send an email from OWA on the 2013 server from the test mailbox it doesn't seem to go anwwhere.

I look at the queue on the 2010 and 2013 server and neither has any message queues for that message.

I am currently migrating my On Premises Exchange 2013 organisation to Exchange Online in a hybrid configuration and I have successfully migrated 200 users so far. I am now down to the final user, of which I am running into the same error each time that I try to perform the migration.

The user has both an primary mailbox (5.78GB) and an archive mailbox(79.07GB).

The move request fails on "Type="StoragePermanentException/MapiExceptionFolderHierarchyChildrenCountQuotaExceeded"

I have attempted to move the archive only onto Exchange Online and this is successful, the move request completes. I then attempted a move with -PrimaryOnly, this fails with the same error.

I have now moved the archive back on premises.

The error suggests that the move fails due to the folder count, and I am aware that Exchange Online has a limitation of 10,000 folders, however the primary mailbox does not exceed this.

Running the below;

Get-MailboxFolderStatistics -Identity joe-bloggs | Measure-Object | Select-Object -ExpandProperty Count

Returns; 4814

My on prem exchange version is; Version 15.0 (Build 1395.4)

Please help me resolve this issue.

i currently have an Exchange 2010 Hybrid setup with Office 365. The majority of the mailboxes are in O365, but some will remain on premise for various reasons.

My 2010 server is a physical box and I'd like to move away from this as it's aging hardware and use a virtualised server running Exchange 2013.

Has anyone done anything similiar ?  I'm basically looking for a process to integrate a new Exchange 2013 server into the environment and ultimately decommission the existing 2010 server.

I have active directory on Server 2012 R2. I installed Exchange Server 2013 on a separate machine and updated schema but after a week I uninstall (clean) Exchange 2013 and format the PC. Now I want to install Exchange 2010, when I run setup /prepareschema it gives me an error, "The active directory schema version 15312 is higher than setup's version 14734. Therefore, PrepareSchema can't be executed." I don't have any backup of Active directory to restore at a previous stage when it had it's original schema (before Exchange 2013). How to overcome this issue? Can I install Exchange 2010 in current scenario?

I'm quite to finalize migration from a pop3 situation to public mx record. I'm asking if my final step is right or if I've to do something else. 

All mailboxes have been created, are running and working with pop3 connector and external smarthost for sending. Certificate ssl is public and autodiscover and mail record are present inside and outside the organizazion.

Now my steps:

- create an mx internal record in DNS mail.maildomain.com pointing  to A record with same name

- redirect mx external record to my public ip where 25,443 and 587 are routed to Exchange server

- stop pop3 connector

- change smarthost from external authentication to "use mx records of the domain"

spf is already configured to accept public ip of the Exchange.

It's all right? Have i forgot something?

In our exchange 2013 servers i want to configure receive connector to relay application mail of authenticated users for security purpose. 

I have on premises exch2016 and need change primary email address from xx@abc.com to xx@xyz.com. I have used policy to add the second email. While testing xyz.com I found that it shows a warning popup message. "Autodiscover.xyz.com does not match the name of the certificate ...".

All Virtual Directories are using 'mail.abc.com' as base,like owa is "https://mail.abc.com/owa". What is best way to do the migration. Do I need wipe out all current virtual directory and recreate using xyz.com as url? I don't want to do it this way, because it could affect current mail flow. But Phone and Outlook shows this pop up message if restarted. There is a post to suppress the outlook pop up. But is there a better way to deal with it?

I have a single Exchange 2007 SP3 Update 10 server, and a single Exchange 2013 CU1 server. After installing CU1 last night, I am trying to migrate one of our system mailboxes to Exchange 2013. However one of the database on Exchange 2013 is showing the Content Index State as failed. I've tried restarting the Microsoft Exchange Search service. I also tried running

Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy DatabaseName -CatalogOnly

however I get the error: Database has only one copy. This task is supported only for databases that have more than one copy.

Have taken over on an old stranded migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013 recently and have now tried to shutdown the old 2010 server. Everything works but Outlook now takes 1 minute before it opens… then everything works.

Started up the old 2010 server again and Outlook clients open within a few seconds. When testing Outlook automatic configuration I can see that it's connecting to the old Exchange 2010 server where it gets redirected to the new 2013 server.

I have looked everywhere (at least that I can think of) and autodiscover all points to the 2013 server so I need someone to point me in the right direction. Users are all on 2013 database.

I have installed Exchange 2013 CU21 on my servers and missed the fact that I was supposed to run /PrepareAD manually before the install to be able to use the new-remotemailbox -shared cmdlet. Aside from needing to stay current, this was the primary reason to do the update!

What can I do to correct this issue? Is it safe to just run /PrepareAD now, after the installation?

All mailboxes migrated from 2007 to 2013, so next step is Public Folder migration. I think I've got all the steps laid out, but had one question about the PublicFoldertoMailboxMapGenerator.ps1 script.  I've been messing around with the size parameter (ie. .\PublicFoldertoMailboxMapGenerator.ps1 300MB, etc.). The resulting csv lists the number of PF mailboxes I should created based on the size I input.  In the results are things like: "Mailbox3","\IPM_SUBTREE\Telecommunications". Can I just renamed IPM_SUBTREE\Telecommunications to |IPM_SUBTREE\whatever? And does the migration just randomly distribute PF content among the PF mailboxes I create? Don't even know if it matters, but it seems odd to have it named IPM_SUBTREE\Telecommunications when it will contain PF folders from all different depts. Am I understanding it correctly?
