Run pre-req check only before 2013 CU23 upgrade

Is there a way to run (via Powershell or otherwise) the ability to just run: Configuration Prerequisites & Prerequisite Analysis?

Could this be done via Powershell with a -whatif flag? I dont want to go through with upgrade, just ensure all prereqs are good.

Azure AD Connect version for Exchange 2016

Hi we are bringing up a pair of Exchange 2016 CU12 Servers in our existing 2013 CU23 Hybrid environment. All we have on-premise is two Mailbox/CAS servers.

I was wondering if we should be at a specific version of 'Azure AD Connect' since our Schema is being upgraded?

We are experiencing issues with accessing ECP on Exchange 2016 from specific networks

We are experiencing issues with accessing ECP on Exchange 2016 from specific networks.
We have IP restrictions set in IIS under ECP and have added the IP addresses of the new network we upgraded at one site which hasn't helped. Our old network at other locations can access ECP without any issues.
There are no errors and the sign in page refreshes after entering the credentials.
IIS logs show: 302 0 0 156 at the end.
Where can I find detailed/advanced logs for ECP logins to Exchange Server 2016.

Any leads would really help.

Thanks!

Why /PrepareAD cannot edit AD objects? / Exchange 2013 installation fails

$
0

Trying to raise EX13 in a domain with EX07.
AD – Server08 R2 SP1
EX07 – Server 2003 R2 SP2
EX13 – Server 2012 R2
The procedure is performed in a test environment on a backup server.
PrepareSchema runs without any problems and configuration objects have ex13cu23 level attributes.
But when you run PrepareAD, the fun begins. He simply cannot edit objects, which he must edit himself, and in the logs he swears at EVERY object that is affected during installation.
I explain:
PrepareAD aborts with the error “Microsoft.Exchange.Data.InvalidObjectOperationException: The RoleFlags property cannot be set for this object, because the version of the object must be at least 0.10 (14.0.100.0). The current version of the object is 0.1 (8.0.535.0)”
I think it’s strange, cause it seems that /preparead itself must raise the version to the right one. And if you change the version of the attribute manually (on hundreds of objects, huh), then he swears that they are all Read-Only.
And here it seems to me that the matter is in some permissions.
The user from which we perform the installation has the following rights: Domain Admin, Schema Admin, Enterprise Admin, organization management, Exchange Organization Administrators1, Exchange Install Domain Servers (well, what if).
I am grateful for any ideas, I’ve been fighting for a week
p.s. Since I am raising it on backup, I tried to delete the problematic objects in ADSI, then /preparead creates new ones, everything is cool, but they need to be deleted (renamed) manually, and there are a lot of them, and, it seems to me, EX07 will die from such manipulations. This was done for fun, in order to see what happens next. Ofc i’m not going to do this on my main environment, just suddenly if this info will help with something. I’m already giving up. Any advices are appreciated

hybrid without database

I need to run a Hybrid Exchange Server for routing and encryption. After migrating all the mailboxes to Exchange Online, do I still need a database on the on-premise Hybrid Exchange?

Setting up hybrid on exchange 2013

For an exchange 2013 on premise server that already uses connectors to O365 for spam filtering and mail delivery, what would be the best course of action to set up hybrid? Mailboxes reside online and looking forward to set up hybrid so that users can be moved to exchange online.

Also, does setting up hybrid on such environment cause any downtime?

thanks!

room mailbox does not act as given permissions

We have: exchange 2013 with client Outlook 2013.

4 room mailboxes: A, B, C and D. Permissions as follow: default (user) has reviewer for reading the full details. plus can delete own items and can write new items and edit his own items. the folder is visible.

I create an appointment and see it in the room calendar. but when I delete it I get a message: some items cannot be deleted, they were move, already deleted or access is denied.

What do I wrong? I set the permissions, but it seems like they are not accepted.

kind regards

Kurt

“A valid Migration mailbox could not be found for this organization”

Root Cause

==========

Arbitration mailbox for migration is missing/corrupted.

Resolution

Migration from Exchange server 2013 to 2016

Hello All , <o:p></o:p>

we are inprocess to migrate our ms exchange 2013 ( 2 Exchange Nodes ) to MS Exchange Server 2016 . This is going to be our first time doing the migration from 2013 to 2016.

i have seen many documents online regarding the migration. My concern is , while we install the exchange 2016 we currently have exchange 2013 as well we don't have load balancer and traffic is directed to one of our exchange 2013 server , when we are going to install the new exchange 2016 we have to create the mailbox database in order to move the user ,<o:p></o:p>

My concern is shall i keep the traffic pointing to exchange 2013 (Old Setup) till the mailbox moves for all users to new database finish then change the traffic or changing the traffic will not effect the old database access from the users side? or after finishing the mailbox transfer i have to update them again to get the emails during the transfer?

Regards,

 <o:p></o:p>

Upgrade from CU17 to CU23

$

Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade Exchange 2013 from CU17 to CU23. I cannot find anywhere info can I directly upgrade from CU17 to CU23. I'm under impression that I should be able to do it with following steps:

1. Put Exchange 2013 into Maintenance mode.

2. Update .net to 4.8 (Do I nee to upgrade to .net 4.7.1 before or not?)

3. Install VC++ 2013.

4. Update Exchange to CU23.

5. Exist Maintenance mode.

Or maybe I should do two step update CU17 to CU21

1. Put Exchange 2013 into Maintenance mode.

2. Update .net to 4.7.1

3. Install VC++ 2013.

4. Update Exchange to CU21.

5. Exist Maintenance mode.

Then do CU21 to CU23 upgrade:

1. Put Exchange 2013 into Maintenance mode.

2. Update .net to 4.8

3. Update Exchange to CU23.

4. Exist Maintenance mode.

Thank you

Based on the logs I think missing some of the installer files from previous updates, however even after re-downloading the updates, and renaming them to match still the errors persist. Yes, the log truncates abnormally.. that's not a paste error.

Dear All,

Last year, we migrated Exchange 2010 to Zimbra and found it was difficult to handle.

So we want to move back to Exchange 2013. Exchange 2013 and Zimbra may co-exist in our organization.

We will deploy two Exchange Server,CAS+Mailbox.

We are considering if put Exchange as the smarthost.

Anyone has idea?

Besides, is there any wonderful migration tool?

Xiu

Hey, I am back

Exchange 2013 CU12 needed

Does anyone have a copy of exchange server 2013 CU12, i need it to perform a restore install so i can remove an old and dead Exchange server from our environment.

It has to be this CU level, no more no less as far as I can tell, its simply so I can install the the restore switch, then uninstall thereby removing all the AD objects cleanly.

Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Could not find information about the local site

Have an existing ex2010 sp3 organization.

Could not run ex2013cu1 setup from my newly built 2012 server, getting the error in the subject line.  I used the command line to run the AD preparation steps successfully from my 2012 DC/GC, then tried to run setup again from the new 2012 server and still get the same error.  The error itself in the log is pretty useless:
