Exchange 2013 setup - WinRM error 504 when running exchange management shell

$

Looking for some advice on ways forward to resolve an issue with the setup of an Exchange 2013 server (Server 2012 R2 cas & mailbox) into a test environment that has 2 exchange 2010 servers running on server 2008 r2.  Servers are hosted on WMware and 2010 exchange are configured as hybrid servers

Downloaded Exchange 2013 CU12.  Install went fine with no errors.  I can access Exchange Admin Centre and view 2010 servers . I can add new mailboxes on the default mailbox which is created with Exchange 2013.  The issue starts when I start to open a session of Exchange management shell I get the below error. Connections fails with error 504

Has anyone seen this error before and know a fix - have found this article but there's no fix https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/60873037-b04d-41fc-ae66-261e2db4af12/the-winrm-client-received-an-http-status-504-from-the-remote-wsmanagement?forum=exchange2010

What's the advice on moving forward with this issue?

thanks in advance

Error Installing 2013

Exchange Hybrid

Hi,

My environment is a pure Exchange 2010 environment and we are going to migrate to Exchange Online.

My plan is to deploy a couple of Exchange 2013 "Hybrid" servers for Hybrid and MRS Proxy endpoints.

In a normal upgrade situation, the best practice is to move the namespace from Exchange 2010 to 2013 for Autodiscover,OWA, EWS etc. As these servers will never host any mailboxes on the and will eventually just be management boxes, is there any value in moving the namespace and actually, could it be more detrimental as I have 8 CAS servers in Exchange 2010 and only 2 hybrids. I understand that the 2013s would proxy requests for 2010 mailboxes etc.

My gut feel is just to leave everything point to 2010 whilst we are migrating.

Any thoughts?

Exchange 2013 and Active Directory Sites and Services

I have just finished a new build of two different sites that house exchange 2013 servers. When I setup ADSS per Microsoft best practices and other professionals suggestions the Active Directory Topology service stops. Each site has two DC's, proper subnets, one bridgehead server and the inter site replication set to 15 minutes which will be temporary. When I move the DC's back into a mesh topology exchange will work fine and all services start. The sites currently are not behind a firewall and are only separated by subnets in my building on fiber. In the future they will be separated by a Satellite WAN link.

PST import from Exch2010 to Exch2013 - Status FailedMAPI and FailedOther

$

Hi all,

I did New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox ... -FilePath \\....pst from working instance of Exchange 2010 and tried to Import that PST file into Exchange 2013 using Shell. As usual there was Alert that Import PST of mailbox has been queued. It was started by me, etc ...

Few hours later I ran Get-MailboxImportRequestStatistics -Identity test\mailboximport and found StatusDetail=FailedMAPI, PercentComplete=69

Because I'm going to migrate about 30 mailboxes in similar way, could you clarify what the problem is it and how to avoid it?

Thanks,

P.S. another attempt using PowerShell to Import same PST finished on 10% with FailedMAPI (or FailedOther???). Also how to figure out which user\mailboximport??? number relates to specific Import process?

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me with this query:

we have a potential new client that would like to export the mailboxes to a MS Exchange system, not sure what the version of Zimbra it is as it is currently hosted by a third party. We are trying to avoid using Outlook export to PST as the solution.

Thank you,

We are experiencing issues with accessing ECP on Exchange 2016 from specific networks

We are experiencing issues with accessing ECP on Exchange 2016 from specific networks.
We have IP restrictions set in IIS under ECP and have added the IP addresses of the new network we upgraded at one site which hasn't helped. Our old network at other locations can access ECP without any issues.
There are no errors and the sign in page refreshes after entering the credentials.
IIS logs show: 302 0 0 156 at the end.
Where can I find detailed/advanced logs for ECP logins to Exchange Server 2016.

Any leads would really help.

Thanks!

Exchange Online migration with ExpressRoute

$

Hi,

I know ExpressRoute is not recommended (but is supported) by Microsoft for Office 365 traffic and utilising internet links is the preferred method.

We have a customer who already has an ExpressRoute configured and ready to go. My concern is that they have this configured for egress but not ingress (as they certainly don't have Autodiscover, MRS, Web services etc) configured.

There seems to be limited documentation on how this works but I am correct in thinking for Autodiscover, EWS etc we add those records into Public DNS and map it to an external IP address and Express Route will have specific routes advertised for those endpoints and external users would use the standard internet routes?

Would there be any issue why egress traffic could go via ExpressRoute and ingress traffic traverse the internet?

Any advice greatly appreciated. We really don't want them going down the ExpressRoute method but we are having our hand forced here.

Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2019

Dear Support,

We are going to upgrade exchange 2013 to 2019. my question is after migrate to Exchange 2019 and when i change the record in local DNS and port forwarding point to new exchange 2019 then my mail flow to old database will migrate automatically right? so if user of 2019 mailbox will get 2019 login page and 2013 user also will get 2019 page but it will redirect to old exchange.

Please correct me

Remove one Exchange 2013 server from the organization

$

Hi there!

We had an Exchange 2013 server playing all roles and providing all services to users. There was an issue where the RPC application pool and Exchange RPC client service was restarting every 20/30 minutes, thus every Outlook client was getting disconnected. We got Microsoft involved but we could not fix the issue at all. The workaround for that was to build a new server and migrate everything across to the new one.

The new server is solely running for over a week now, and the first server is down. No issues so far! All virtual directory URLs point to CNAME records that in turn point to the new server. Autodiscover, Availability, OOF, OAB, OWA, Outlook, etc all seems to be working fine. The new server is configured for SMTP (send/receive) and the certificate was also migrated over.

Now I want to remove the old server from the environment, and I just want to confirm whether uninstalling Exchange from Control panel will do the job. Should I pay attention to something particular? Is anyone aware of any manual process that has to be done prior/after uninstalling it completely?

What if the process get stuck at some point during uninstall? Is there a way of removing it manually from AD?

Thanks!

Exchange 2013 CUs do not remove earlier version files and folders

$

I have an Exchange 2013 installation started with SP1 that I have kept updated installing the Cumulative Updates when they were released.

I have observed that after each CU installation the C: free space (Exchange is installed on C:) was less then before. So I searched in the Exchange install directory and I have found a lot of sub-directories named with an Exchange build number, expecially under the ClientAccess install dir and the OWA subdir.

For instance, under C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\Owa I have many folders named "15.0.995.28", "15.0.995.32", "15.0.1044.21", "15.0.1044.27", "15.0.1076.2", "15.0.1076.10".

The C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\Owa\prem directory has the same subfolders and is consuming a lot of disk space.

As I could understand, the CU setup should remove the older files but it seems that it does not and keeps older version in these directories. I have tried installing a fresh Exchange 2013 CU8 on a new server and these directories are not present.

The question is: is that correct?

And: can I safely delete the older versions folders?

Thanks

Migrating public folders 2007 to 2013

$

I am currently migrating public folders from Exchange 2007 to 2013.  The first Sync of the batch job has completed.  In the 2013 ECS, I am seeing the following:

No active public folder mailboxes were found. This happens when no public folder mailboxes are provisioned or they are
provisioned in 'HoldForMigration' mode. If you're not currently performing a migration, create a public folder mailbox.

Also, the 2013 EAC does not show any public folders.   How can I verify the folders will be available when I completed the migration.   I thought the folders were viable in the EAC during the migration, but I may be mistaken.

Please advise.

Recovered and Retired Exchange 2010 Server Listed as Provisioned

I'm trying to clean up an Exchange 2010 > 2013 migration. The 2010 servers were physically removed and trashed without uninstalling Exchange after the migration was considered complete. There were still a ton of references to 2010 servers and databases so I was tasked with cleaning it up.

I followed steps to recover the servers by creating VMs with same OS and name as the old 2010s. I ran the recover install on the mailbox database server and then retired it without rebooting (this may have been a mistake?). It appears that deleting the databases and uninstalling Exchange from the mailbox database server worked as its databases no longer appear in the 2013 ECP.

But the mailbox database server is still listed in the 2013 ECP as a "provisioned server". I have since run the 2010 setup on the server with the /RemoveProvisionedServer switch and it says it completed but it remains in the 2013 ECP. I have also run the 2013 setup on an existing 2013 server with the /RemoveProvisionedServer switch but it fails with an error which I'm not entirely sure about:

Exchange 2013 Server - Virtual Directories Settings in EAC/ECP

$

I removed our OWA and ECP virtual directories from Default Web Site to remove access from the outside world. Then created a new Website, assigned to a 2nd IP on the server's NIC. I added both OWA and ECP to the new site. We can access email from the new URL internally.

I can login to Exchange Admin Center and manage everything EXCEPT when I go into Servers - Virtual Directories. The Virtual Directories that were not changed work as designed. The 2 I changed I click on then the window pops open with a 500.19 error in that small window.

I need to correct that problem. I have found many articles about not being able to login to EAC this is not that. It's just the two directories management windows.

Hi Everyone,

Please, need some advise i am planning to upgrade MS EXCH 2013 to TLS 1.2 running on win2012 r2, now to do so i need Install CU19 in production for TLS 1.2 support, but CU19 is not available CU23, looking at the user guide for TLS1.2 i have it says be ready to upgrade to CU20 after its release if you need to disable TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. Has anyone recently upgraded TLS1.2, can i upgrade to CU23?
Does that mean TLS1.0 and TLS1.2 will get disable automatically?
Thanks
