HI

I am starting an exchange 2010 to 2013 migration and am trying to migrate the arbitration mailbox. Only it keeps failing.

This is what I see in EAC

Data migrated:
Migration rate:
Error: MigrationPermanentException: Mailbox 'Microsoft Exchange' has a completed move request associated with it. Before you create a new move request for the mailbox, run the Remove-MoveRequest cmdlet to clear the completed move request. --> Mailbox 'Microsoft Exchange' has a completed move request associated with it. Before you create a new move request for the mailbox, run the Remove-MoveRequest cmdlet to clear the completed move request.

In event viewer I see

Exchange 2013 CAS X-CasErrorCode: MailboxGuidWithDomainNotFound

Hi,

We have 1 cas server and 2 mbx servers in a DAG outlook anywhere for internal works flawlessly. We do not use autodiscover externally yet so we set them up manually.

When i use test exchange connectivity and i use the CAS server as servername to connect it gives me the error message:

Attempting to ping RPC proxy mail.domain.com.
  RPC Proxy can't be pinged.

 Additional Details

A Web exception occurred because an HTTP 404 - NotFound response was received from Unknown.
Headers received:

X-CasErrorCode: MailboxGuidWithDomainNotFound

Date: Fri, 27 Dec 2013 00:29:32 GMT
Server: Microsoft-IIS/8.0
X-AspNet-Version: 4.0.30319
X-Powered-By: ASP.NET

However only when i specifically use the MBX server which holds the active copy of the mailboxdatabase it connects properly without errors. But the casserver should use active manager to see which server holds the active mailboxdatabase automatically doesn't it? I have recently updated to CU3 I have no errors in the eventlogs of both the casserver and the mailbox servers. It doesn't matter which kind of authentication i set in Outlook Anywhere also it doesn't matter wether or not i set the EXCH and EXPR settings of set-outlookprovider. I have tried reinstalling the RPC over http feature and tried resetting virtual directories of the casserver already.

Will this be fixed when i start using autodiscover?

Hi

I get this error when trying to install Exchange 2013 on a Server 2012 build on Hyper-V (running on Windows 8.1).  All prerequisites are installed and I have tried re-downloading the .iso from TechNet.

It's also impossible to scroll down the error message to see the rest of it.

Problem creatin a DAG on Exchange 2013

Hi,

I've installed three windows server 2012 R2 VMs. I promoted one of the machines to DC. I installed exchange 2013 (mailbox and client access) on two of them (one of them is the DC).

After this I tried to create a DAG with the third server as a witness server. I did this through the ECP. During this process the machine I was running the ECP from had a power failure. I logged in again from another pc, to see a DAG with one member server.

I was unable to add the second server to this DAG, and decided to remove it. After removing the dag I created a new one, but I am unable to add a server to it.

I removed that DAG too and created a new one using the cmdlet. This works fine, and a CNO is created. After checking this I tried to add a server to the DAG. This fails with following error:

[2014-01-21T18:12:42] WriteError! Exception = Microsoft.Exchange.Cluster.Replay.DagTaskOperationFailedException: A server-side database availability group administrative operation failed. Error The operation failed. CreateCluster errors may result from incorrectly configured static addresses. Error: An error occurred while attempting a cluster operation. Error: Cluster API '"CreateCluster() failed with 0x5b4. Error: This operation returned because the timeout period expired"' failed.. ---> Microsoft.Exchange.Cluster.Replay.AmClusterApiException: An Active Manager operation failed. Error: An error occurred while attempting a cluster operation. Error: Cluster API '"CreateCluster() failed with 0x5b4. Error: This operation returned because the timeout period expired"' failed. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: This operation returned because the timeout period expired

The CNO object also disappears after trying to add the server to the DAG.

Any suggestions?

Hello Everyone!

We have an issue with pop/imap clients trying to authenticate.

Users log on with credentials from Account Forest, security audit shows a succesful log on and impersonation from process Microsoft.Exchange.Pop3.exe, but fails to login to mailbox.

The following warning appears in the event log:

Log Name:      Application
Source:        MSExchangePOP3
Date:          22/01/2014 11:41:29
Event ID:      2005

Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      exchangeCAS
Description:

Protocol logs show the same warning.

Seems that Microsoft.Exchange.Pop3.exe process is unable to determine the linked mailbox of the provided credentials.

Hi,

Need advice on the number of SSL i would need to purchase.

I know that I require to have a SSL with example: mail.domain.com & autodiscover.domain.com

How about the ARR server that I will be setting up. Refer to http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/fe8d1aae-a3c9-432a-a139-7b770cb07576/new-exchange-2013-setup-vmware?forum=exchangesvrdeploy

do i need to have a SSL cert for the ARR server?

Thanks in advance!

Migrating from Exchange 2010 to EX2013 cu3

I'm in the middle of a migration from EX2010 SP3 to EX2013 CU3.  Transfers were going real slow, so I disabled global chimney and RSS scaling to see if that would help.  Running W2K8 R2.

Mailbox migrations now fail with this error message:

Relinquishing job: The request has been temporarily postponed: Resource reservation has expired. --> Resource reservation has expired.

Has anyone seen this before?  Thanks

Exchange 2013: Problem with Default Global Address List after migration

$

I just completed a migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  The 2007 box has been decommissioned just last week.  I have been seeing weird issues with our offline addressbook and global address list, since the migration, but always thought it was related to Ex2007.  Well the issues still exist and here's what i've found so far:

1.  If any user goes to Schedule Appointment in Outlook, and they click the Rooms button (on the Scheduling Assistant page), we get a LONG wait (about 5 mins or more) and then an error that says:  "The operation could not be completed because an offline address book is not available.  Download a copy of the offline address book."  When i click OK, the address book is up, with the "All Rooms" list showing blank (we have 3 rooms in Exchange currently).

2.  Now if I go to the Address Book in Outlook it opens to the GAL and it's up to date...  I can also force an update to the offline address book after adding a new group or entry, so i know offline address books are being updated properly and working.  HOWEVER, if i go to any of the other address lists (besides Contacts and GAL) under All Address Lists (All Contacts, All Groups, All Rooms, All Users and Public Folders) I get the same error given above:  "The operation could not be completed because an offline address book is not available.  Download a copy of the offline address book."

3.  I went to the Exchange 2013 EAC and went to Organization -> Address Lists.  Everything under here said 'NO' under the Up-to-Date column.  When i looked at the properties on each list, and clicked save, I had to update to the new version. After doing this, the Up-to-Date column said 'YES'.  I could do all lists EXCEPT for the GAL.  It still says 'NO'

4.  The last thing i did was set my Outlook to NOT be in cached mode.  This should give me a direct connection to the GAL and all lists, if I'm not mistaken...  So when i do this, I cannot even open see the GAL.  The ONLY option in the Address Book that comes up is Contacts (which are my personal ones).

5.  I just now ran Get-GlobalAddressList | fl  in powershell on the Ex2013 server.  I see some things that make me wonder...   First; nothing in the RecipientFilter field, however, there is something in the LdapRecipientFilter field. Second; the RecipientFilterType field says "Legacy".  and Third; the RecipientFilterApplied field says "False".

Didn't know what these should all be, but it appears maybe this is the cause of all my issues??  Can someone help me out here.. even if i have to recreate a new GAL, i'm fine with that, I just don't know all the steps to do so.  I just need it to work!

Thanks

Jeff

2007 to 2013 Mailbox migrations hang at 95%

$

We are in the process of migrating from 2007 to 2013. 2013 is installed with CU2, new mailboxes created on 2013 work fine, mail is routing between both servers, etc. The only issue we seem to be having is we can't migrate mailboxes from 2007 to 2013. We are testing migration with test email accounts with just a couple emails in them. We have several databases on the 2007 server and we've created several new ones on 2013, regardless of what database we try and migrate from and what database we try and migrate to we have the same problem. The status just sits at "Syncing" and when I use Exchange PS with the Get-MoveRequestStatistics on the mailbox it shows StatusDetail-Finalization and PercentComplete-95%. The Mailbox size is only 6k.

Autodiscover not setting outlook anywhere accordingly

We have installed 2013 Mailbox and CAS Server on separate boxes into our 2010 environment.  We have migrated a few users and it seems autodiscover does not configure Outlook anywhere on the Outlook 2010 client.  If we configure this manually the user can connect and view mail.  Outlook web access is fine, certificates appear to be working as we can manually configure Outlook and it is ready mail very well.  We are running Exchange 2013 CU3, and have installed the certificate on the CAS.  the autodiscover dns entry has been changed to point to the 2013 CAS.

Is this a common problem and what can we try to do to resolve this issue ?

I've read a few different posts and looked at authentication of virtual folders (still default setup), certificates (added new certificate from company CA).  Any ideas ?

2007 SP3 to 2013 Migration -> Public Folders Migration (-2147467259)

Hi Guys

I'm currently undertaking an Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2013 migration, and all has been going swimmingly so far.  We've moved all mailboxes across and are at the final stages and just want to move the public folders across.

I've been following the instructions in: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx this article, and we have gotten up to stage 5 (Start the Migration Request).  The process gets around 20% of the way through, and from what we can tell seems to migrate all content from PF folders, however it then stops.  I've posted an extract of the log below, which should show you the error we're currently getting (it tries then exhausts retries & stops).

I've attempted to find some solutions, and searching for the respective error codes has suggested a couple of ideas, such as not being a PF Admin (checked), resource issues on source/destination servers (checked, and restarted for good measure), I saw mention of a problem with NETBIOS resolution so added the source server into the host files (checked).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Hi,

I would like to know if Microsoft support Exchange 2013 & Lync 2013 with AD Level 2003 (Forest & Domain) and DNS using BIND 9.2 (No DNS in AD).

Exchange 2013 will be with DAG multi-site (full redundancy) and more than 10000 users ...

They are few Windows 2000 servers (not AD Controller) ...

Thank's

Exchange 2013 ECP/OWA Error 503 Service Unavailable

Hi,

Hoping that someone can clarify or assist with an issue relating to Exchange 2013 CU3..

Both roles installed on a single 2012 server, mailboxes created, able to login to ECP/OWA using ht tps://servername.int.domain.com/ecp using the out of the box internally generated SSL certificate.

Virtual directory internal and external settings for all directories were configured to be ht tps://mail.domain.com/owa /ecp /EWS etc and a UCC certificate (containing mail.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com)from GoDaddy was imported and assigned to IIS and SMTP, internal DNS records were setup internally and externally for mail.domain.com and full propagated, Outlook Anywhere enabled and configured to mail.domain.com, external access configured for all virtual directories

The issue is that ECP and OWA can only be accessed internally by the full internal server FQDN URL ht tps:// serverame.int.domain.com/ecp whereas it should be accessible at this point by ht tps:// mail.domain.com/ecp

Error received both internal and external when trying ht tps://mail.domain.com / owa / rpc etc is error 503 Service Unavailable

I know that the ECP and OWA sites are up and running as I can login and do anything by internal servername URL but no joy at all using the external (which is to be used for internal clients aswell for seamless access)

The only way it works is by adding a host name to the 2 x 443 bindings in IIS for the front end website and set it to mail.domain.com but this means autodiscover.domain.com internally and externally wont work

Is this normal and required for Exchange 2013 or is there a way to resolve this?

Thanks in advance!

Exchange 2013 CU2 DAG

Current Senario:

Exchange 2013 CU2 running on Windows 2012, in virtual environment. Two CAS in HLB and two Mailbox servers in DAG both hosting active and passive databases. (MBX1 and MBX2)

We are observing on one of the node MBX2 the  some of the databases frequently failover over to MBX1 without any pronounced issue with the server MBX2.

I would like to know the reason. I have checked the event viewer for the errors nothing specific is logged.

When database failover in DAG environment what is the log been recorded in event viewer.

why the database is failover when the hosting server is runing properly (disk space suffient no hardware related issues)

Please suggest.

Problem migrating Public folders from 2007 to 2013

Hi.

We are migrating from Exchange 2007 to 2013.

I am currently trying to migrate our public folders to the new server, but it is going very slowly, and it fails after working for some time.

In my report for the migration I keep getting these errors:

1/17/2014 9:42:27 AM [WINSRV01] Transient error ResourceUnhealthyException has occurred. The system will retry (14/60).

1/17/2014 9:42:35 AM [WINSRV01] The move is currently stalled due to 'Remote Resource' lagging behind on resource 'Resource 'CiRetryQueueSize(New Mailbox Database)' is unhealthy and shouldn't be accessed.'.

My contentindexretryqueuesize is currently about 7000.

What is causing this, and how do I fix it :)

Exchange 2013 on Hyper-v

New to server 2012 and exchange 2013. We have a 2012 server datacenter that runs the RDS role(s). I googled exchange 2013 virtualization and found this tech net article:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj619301(v=exchg.150).aspx

On this article it states: For deployments of Exchange 2013:

Only management software (for example, antivirus software, backup software, or virtual machine management software) can be deployed on the physical host machine. No other server-based applications (for example, Exchange, SQL Server, Active Directory, or SAP) should be installed on the host machine. The host machine should be dedicated to running guest virtual machines

Are RDS roles considered server-based applications? In other words, can exchange 2013 be installed on thee server that runs RDS?

How to Apply Exchange 2013 Active Directory Split Permission Model and Completely Isolate AD and Exchange Management??

Hi Experts,

I am Deploying Exchange 2013 in an organization where currently Active Directory is handled and Administered by a different Admins and they want Exchange to be managed by another set of Admins. My customer wants to completely Isolate Administration and Management of both AD And Exchange. i have gone through some technet articles and tested option for both RBAC and Active Directory Split permission model. I think Active Directory Split Permission model would be helpful but while testing i came to know that, via Split permission Exchange admin can not create or delete User/Dist. Groups but still he can Edit or modify the details (City, office address, phone no. Department and display name etc.) which means that this is not fully separation of Roles between AD Admins and Exchange Admins.

please help me to resolve below queries and Scenarios if supported by Exchange Split permission model -

(1) only AD Admins should be able to create, Delete or modify the Security principles property in Active Directory. Exchange Admin should only need to modify Exchange related property/attributes from exchange Control panel or shell. they should not be able to change the Display name, and other AD related common attributes via Exchange Admin centre or management shell.

(2) similarly i want to restrict my AD Admins from modifying or changing exchange related attributes by any means (ADSIEDIT, ADUC,). i want to restrict my AD Admins from assigning organization management or recipient management rights to them-self and do any modification on my exchange servers via Shell or Admin Centre and then Revoke the membership from Exchange Security groups. i want AD Admins and Exchange should do their respective tasks without any ability to change/edit or modify any settings of each others??

(3) I Want to restrict to open Exchange Admin Centre (ECP) via some limited Systems only. i know we can block to open ECP via internet but i want to restrict it to open within internal network as well and from limited systems of my Exchange Admin.
