Exchange 2013 public folders from 2007

$

I migrated our public folders from 2007 to 2013 without any problems. My Exchange 2013 is at CU3 and 2007 is at SP3 Rollup 11.

Basically any version of outlook (2007-2013 that I've tested) inside or outside the network cannot expand public folders. It gives a message about "Your profile is not configured".

Autodiscover is working and the PrimarySmtpAddress on the public folder mailbox is correct (as in that domain works via autodiscover inside or outside)

What is going on / how do I fix this issue?

Certificate requirements

Hi all,

We're looking at bringing in our Notes 8.5 environment (separate forest) into Exchange 2013 and need clarification on certificates. Hopefully someone has done this recently. We've just upgrades 2010 to 2013 without any issues as it seems exchange 2013 has just picked up where 2010 left off. Accepting the certificates already in place.

If we're co-existing between the 2 platforms for 6mths, is there an issue for certificates in the mail world?

thx for any help or pointers

Error when using super admin account to migrate from Communigate Pro to exchange 2013

Hi everyone,

We are facing issues to migrate mails from communigate pro to exchange 2013 using 'MigrateIMAP.pl' tool. Communigate pro has a super-admin account which can retrieve the mails from any mailbox but when sending to Exchange 2013, there is no such super-admin account. I have created a user account granting it full access to all databases using the following:

Get-MailboxDatabase -identity “mailbox name” | Add-ADPermission -user <account name> -AccessRights GenericAll

Get-mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission -User <account name> -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType All

The tool uses the following command: (x.x.x.x is for server IPs & mytestlist contains user accounts to be migrated)

./migrateIMAP.pl -d -I -U -s 100 -L mylog7 -e superadmin:password\<i -S x.x.x.x -fexchangeadmin:password -D x.x.x.x -i mytestlist

The IMAP4 logs shows the following error:

2014-02-04T13:32:37.699Z,0000000000000579,1,x.x.x.x:143,x.x.x.x:47688,,1,65,34,authenticate,PLAIN cmJhbGxjaGFuZAByYmFsbGNoYW5kAEwwZ09uQDEyMw==,"R=""1 BAD Command Argument Error. 12"""

Anyone, please help me out, i've spent a whole week trying to solve this. Thanks in advance

SSL Issue setting up CAS redundancy

I have two EX2013 servers deployed in different offices.  I have a DAG set up and working properly and am trying to configure out CAS redundancy, but I get an SSL error when opening outlook. I comes back with an Proxy Error 0, name does not match. The names are listed as alternates in the SAN certificate. Does the Outlook Anywhere domain name have to be the primary subject?

Outlook Profile not updating after migration

$

Hi,

Running a fairly straight forward setup

Clients = Outlook 2013

Legacy Exchange = 2010 UM SP3 RU4

Exchange = 2013 UM CU3

They're currently in a coexisting state

Have configured autodiscover, Outlook Anywhere etc.

Re-issued a cert with the same common name and included both legacy and new exchange servers

Split DNS

The issue that I have is after I have migrated a user from 2010 to 2013 they get prompted for credentials opening their outlook client and once they authenticate it states that it can't connect to exchange.

Checking their mail profile settings and I note that it still points to the 2010 FQDN

If I disable the Exchange RPC service on 2010 (effectively stopping any 2010 users from working) then the newly migrated user can open outlook fine (still gets an authentication prompt to which they must authenticate). Checking their mail profile their after shows a series of numbers @ domain etc which is expected.

If it is a first logon user or you repair the profile the path updates too and Outlook works as expected.

Any thoughts?

Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Ucweb.dll missing?

I have 5 Exchange 2013 servers (CAS01, CAS02, MBX01, MBX02 and MBX03). I'm trying to setup Lync 2013 integration and the first thing it mentions is:

"you must first verify that the Unified Communications Managed API 4.0 Runtime has been installed in your Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 backend server"

When I look it is installed (see it under add/remove programs) but on all three of my MBX servers this key is missing:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchange OWA\InstantMessaging\

and

Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Ucweb.dll is not under the clientaccess BIN directory.

Any reason for htis?

I am struggling with the ECP and Powershell for Exchange 2013. I just want to create a Global Adress List that all the users in the domain can use as the standard email/adress list. Somehow i cannot find a decent and clear manual on how to create this :(

PST import - Problem when replying to old e-mail

Hi,

When using New-MailboxImportRequest to import PST files to Exchange 2013 CU2 we end up with a succesful import. When the end-user tries to reply to an old e-mail the "To" field is just populated with the Display Name of the user that sent the mail. Not the smtp or X500 address. See the attached picture.

If we use Outlook to import the issue does not occurs.

We have tried with different versions of Exchange as source mailsystem and different versions of Outlook as export tool with the same result.

Is this a known issue?

Best regards, Jesper

Installing SP3 on Exchange 2010 - Error

$

Hi,

I'm getting an error message when trying to install SP3 on Exchange 2010.

I am currently running: Exchange 2010 SP1 - Windows Server 2008 Ent.  2 nodes, DAG

"The server side error is: 0x21a2 The FSMO role ownership could not be verified because its directory partition has not replicated successfully with at least one replication partner."

So I ran dcdiag, and sure enough I get a replication error, several of them actually:

"The failure occurred at 2014-02-11 13:54:23.
The last success occurred at 2013-05-30 00:51:00.
32 failures have occurred since the last success.
[Replications Check,EXCHANGE2010] A recent replication attempt failed:
            From EXCHANGE2010-2 to EXCHANGE2010
            Naming Context: CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=mydomainname,DC=lcl
The replication generated an error (8614):
The directory service cannot replicate with this server because the time since the last replication with thi
s server has exceeded the tombstone lifetime."

The thing I'm not understanding is this: When I check the EMC looking at the DAG tab, it looks as though everything with the DAG is fine. Also, when I check the Organization Config->Mailbox, both copies of the Database seem to be Healthy.

So, I guess what I'm asking is what can be causing this error message and what steps can I take to try to fix it? I'm not an expert at this, which I guess is clear since I'm posting here!
Thanks,
mike

Exchange 2013 : failover cluster,DAG errors

Hi ,

We have 2 CAS and 2 Mailbox servers.Created a DAG environment.Everything is looking fine in the ECP.

DAG Environment :

Witness server is the cas01 server.

Maibox1 : 10.0.80.10

Maiblox2 : 10.0.80.11

DAG ip : 10.0.80.12

Replication n/w : 192.168.0.0/24

Mailbox 1 Nic 1 :192.168.0.1

Mailbox 2 nic 1 :192.168.0.2

Created the DAG and configured the replication n/w. but I see many errors in the server manager in the file and storage services section (eventid's 1561 and 1564) . Attached the screenshot.

In the failover cluster manager too, I can see the DAG not activated (red cross mark) yet.

even thoug we have only 2 nic’s for each server ,it shows APIPA ip assigned to the tunnel adapter local area connection. Attached the screenshot

What could be the issue here ? please suggest

Exchange 2013 reports Forest non 2003 Native or above while it is

While trying to install Exchange 2013, with all prereqs satisfied on 2008 R2 non DC joined to a 2008 domain with one Exchange 2007 machine and 2 other 2008 DCs, setup complains about the forest not being at least 2003 native while the domain level has been raised to 2008 and is reported so. No other error is issued. The install log states:

[02/02/2014 23:27:09.0771] [1] Evaluated [Rule:ForestLevelNotWin2003Native] [HasException:False] [Value:"True"] [ParentValue:"<NULL>"] [Thread:36] [Duration:00:00:00.0155996]

    No other errors are logged.

This is an install on a new 2008 R2 machine, joined to a 2008 domain, with one Exchange 2007 std server to be decomissioned in the domain. The domain level is 2008 native and is reported so by all DCs. I believe this to be a misdetection probably caused by some value in AD - does anyone know where I could look for this? Why else would the setup report it's not "at least 2003 native" when from the AD snapins it is reported 2008 native?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Zimbra 8 to Exchange 2013 Migration Suggestions

$

We currently use zimbra 8 and are looking to move to exchange 2013 since the future of zimbra looks to be bleek. Currently we have about 20 users. I would like to get mail, calendar, contacts and notes. I have read other threads like:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/e94a8bb6-06df-44fa-bbff-0ecdea9dbf4d/migrate-from-zimbra-to-exchange-2010?forum=exchange2010

Is this the best way? This procedure appears to get only mail. Is there a way to get calendar, contacts and such? I really don't want to have to export to pst and then import as this would cause hours of email downtime (zimbra server up while i export. Then configuring the router for the exchange server to accept connections then import). About half the users are connecting from the internet and therefore have to come in through the router. How do you gurus handle going from 1 email platform to another?

Copy UCC from Exchange 2010 to 2013

I'm starting to setup my Exchange 2013 server. I'm able to migrate users from 2010 and access their mailbox. I'd like to export the UCC SSL cert from 2010 to 2013. The cert if from GoDaddy. Do I need to add the SAN name of the new Exchange 2013 server to the certificate? If so, how will that affect my 2010 server?

Is the process to export from Exchange 2010 and do an import on the 2013 server? What else am I missing?

Exchange 2013 Outlook Anywhere RPC Proxy not working for remote site Exchange 2010 server

$

Our Exchange 2010 Organization has Exchange servers deployed at multiple sites, AU, NZ and UK.

We recently deployed a Exchange 2013 CAS/MBX server in AU site. Our OWA was cutover from the AU EX2010 CAS server to this EX2013 box. The OWA is still published as MAIL.CONTOSO.COM. The EX2013 server does not hold any mailboxes.

After the cutover, we notice users with mailboxes on remote site Exchange 2010 servers are having problem to connect through Outlook Anywhere. OWA and ActiveSync work perfectly for those uses through MAIL.CONTOSO.COM which is hosted at AU site. However, AU mailbox Users does not have this problem. They can use Outlook Anywhere without any issues. Note their mailboxes are hosted on EX2010 server still.

I tried with TestExchangeConnectivity site and get RPC Proxy Ping failed error for NZ and UK mailbox users. In the mean time, on the Ex2013 server I see event source MSExchange Front End Proxy HTTP event 3005, it basic warns EX2013 has marked NZ and UK remote site EX2010 server as Unhealthy due to exception.

I then confirmed and tested with our network team that ports 6000-6005 and 443 between AU and NZ UK sites. There is no package been blocked or dropped and I can telnet to 6001 from AU EX2013 server to NZ and UK EX2010 servers fine.

I then notice people were mentioning about manually setting EXCH and EXPR value to msstd:mail.contoso.com as mentioned in this post http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/728be9b1-4415-4df6-a997-5ecb9ded9a63/rpc-proxy-cant-be-pinged-20132010-coexistence-with-outlook-anywhere?forum=exchangesvrgeneral

But I suspect this is not relate to my case, as RPC Proxy works perfectly between the AU EX2013 and EX2010 server.

Any suggestions?

Exchange 2013 in a workgroup

$

Hi All,

I understand Exchange 2013 has to be setup in a domain with AD.
We have 4 sites, each setup with local workgroups. Users logon to their machines with local admin accounts.

I know it would be nice to move all of the 250 users over to AD structure, however that isn't feasible at this time.

My question is this:
I need to migrate from a POP3 server, to Exchange 2013. Can I just set up the server (Server 2012 Std + Exch 2013 Std) as a DC + AD, but just that machine in its own domain?
Will the users be able to access OWA of that server from their respective workgroups? (I don't plan on setting up Outlook on 250 machines...)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Regards, Minty
