Exchange service for Extranet users

$

Hi,

We are now in the process of planning and designing Microsoft Exchange. We have 2000 internal users
and about 4000 external users which are our independent stores and should have Exchange mailbox.

We have security and access challenges for our 4000 extranet users. We want to give them mailbox, OWA and POP3 access but at the same don't want to give them access on our active directory environment.

Which strategy you guys recommend for our environment?

NetRock

Problematic Exchange 2013 VM

All,

I have an Exchange 2013 Server in my test environment and for the life of me, cannot figure out what is going wrong. I am not an Exchange Expert, but it has been running fine for over a year. Recently, after a month or so suspended, I tried to access it and rather than logging in to OWA or ECP, I type my credentials and it just redirects back to the login page, with no error or any other info.

When I attempt to launch the PowerShell EMC it throws "Access Denied" errors.

When I launch the Exchange Toolbox it throws SerializationException.

If I run regular PowerShell and add the Exchange Snapin it reports version 15.0.775.38

I am tempted to just start over, but I know simply adding a new server to my domain once you have one Exchange Server is not so easy. I would appreciate any guidance on steps forward. I do have user and resource mailboxes on this server and Get-Mailbox does correctly report the mailboxes.

Again, this is NOT production, but I have spent the better part of 3 days trying different options and nothing is bringing it back.

Migrating from exc 2010/hosting to a new exc 2013 forest.

Hi all,

I have a ex 2010/hosting and I have to migrate it to a new exc 2013 forest. I followed this good article http://dizdarevic.ba/ddamirblog/?p=115 in a lab environment and I got success in a common 2010. When I deployed the hosting mode I got an error during the New Migration Endpoint. So I don't have sure about if this issue is related to the /hosting or I am missing something. I did the trust, enable the MRSProxy, The "Prepare-moverequest worked fine, I export/import the certificates, but no way. This message shows up when asked to validate the FQDN of source domain:

"Remote MRS proxy server:
The FQDN of the Exchange server that the Mailbox Replication Service (MRS) Proxy is on. "

error
The connection to the server 'hostexc01.lab2010.host' could not be completed.

I can ping this name and resolve it. The trust was validated too.

More infos through command:

The call to 'https://hostexc01.lab2010.host/EWS/mrsproxy.svc' failed. Error details: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'hostexc01.lab2010.host'. --> The underlying connection was...

Could you help me, please?

Exchange Online without configuration outlook.

Hello.

I’ve tested Exchange Online Plan1 by trial version now.

I saw your article of the migration Exchange Server 2003 to Office365.

My goal is using exchange online without setting on user computers.

Because many user are in different place. So I couldn’t make it all of them.

And it could be taken time a lot. That’s why I don’t want configuration of the outlook.

But I’m not sure it is possible. Please let me know my big question.

My Exchange Online Migration Plan.

  1.       Stop our Exchange Server 2003.
  2.       Make contract with Microsoft for Exchange Online Plan1
  3.       Register our domain on the Exchange Online.
  4.       Make all of the users at Exchange Online without migration function.
  5.       Reconfiguration  passwords of the users by powershell.
  6.       Using outlook 2007 without reconfiguration.

If I use Exchange Server 2013, it is possible to use outlook 2007 without configuration

Thank you.

We have Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 co-existence scenario and Federated with one domain xyz.com

From Exchange 2010 works fine both direction to xyz.com (which is on exchange 2010 SP3 ) and  from xyz domain works free/busy Exchange 2010  and Exchange 2013 free /busy.

But From exchange 2013 to xyz.com domain is Free/busy not working the in OWA 2013.

Getting below error message

Free/busy information couldn’t be retrieved because the attendee's Mailbox server is busy and MS  says on this error

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2838688/en-us

TargersharingEPR should be null  but in our case Free/busy running only on the targetsharingepr end point

Any thoughts on this issue ?

Our Internet facing OWA is published through our EX2013 server as MAIL.CONTOSO.COM

We have multiple sites acrossed global. OWA proxy from EX2013 to EX2010 works fine for NZ and US. But for some reason when tries to access mailbox on UK EX2010 SP3 server through the EX2013 OWA, I got error below:

OWA-Error: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.NotSupportedWithServerVersionException X-OWA-Version: 15.0.775.32 X-FEServer: EX2013-CAS X-BEServer: EX2013-CAS

Checked the mailbox ExchangeVersion on the UK EX2010 server, it is 0.10 (14.0.100.0) same as NZ and US EX2010 mailbox users.

Hi

I am installing the first Exchange 2013 Server in my Exchange 2007 environment
It has completed successfully but in the Application Event Log I see an error, twice:

EventID: 1032
The EDS Job manager failed to start the following jobs:
Job: 'TransportSyncHealthHubLog' is poisoned.

Anyone know a reason for this?

I can only think that it is related to Jetstress which was installed on the Server

However I removed the utility together with the folder, database and  log files prior to installing Exchange.

Thanks

Public External IP Address

Hi, I hope someone might help me and direct me in to right direction. I`m planning on setting up Exchange Server. I did set it up ages ago when I was just seing what it was about. The problem I had that the whole network is sat behind NAT and External IP Address is Public rather than Private. I`m using No-IP Service for my Dynamic DNS Service. When I was trying to send email to my Outlook accound reply from Outlook Mail Servers said that they do not receive emails from IP Addresses marked as Public. Is there is any way to overcome this issue. Changing Broadband Package is not an option due to contract and early leave high fees.

Exchange 2013 Server Role Requirements Calculator

Hi all

I'm trying to size my Exchange deployment but I'm having some "issues" getting correct results from the calculator.

Like, when I switch backup option from weekly full/daily incremental to daily full, volume requirements triples up ?!?

Smaller database size (more LUNs) is less storage space demanding vs larger database size (fewer LUNs). but why when master merger process is lighter with fewer LUNs...

and it gets even more nasty when I try to go for HA and DAG...

Any thoughts?

SiteA Needs Authentication for SiteB Exchange

So whats missing? This is 2nd shop I walked into.

Two AD's (Two Locations)

AD1 consositeA\UserA has all authentications good for exchange. No credidentials required for outlook (once authenticated)

AD2 consositeB\UserB always have to authenticate with exchange that is tied to AD1.

It is a two way trust between domains, however how would someone go about to fix that AD2 authenticates once with Exchange tied to AD1..

Hope this says it all?

Exchange 2013 CU2 will not install, Exchange is now in an unuseable state.

I have downloaded Exchange 2013 CU2 and attempted to install it from a local drive.  Exchange 2013 is installed on a Server 2012 Standard VM in Hyper-V.  I ran the two following commands before trying to install

setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

setup.exe /PrepareAD /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

Upon trying to run the installer, I recieve the following error.

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
                    & $RoleBinPath\ServiceControl.ps1 EnableServices Critical
" was run: "AuthorizationManager check failed.".

During my first install attept, the error was on step 4 of 15. I have tried to rerun the setup with no luck.  I noticed the installer leaves all the Exchange services disabled, as well as winmgmt, remoteregistry, w3svc, iisadmin.  These four services are the critical services the errors refer to.  I have verified my execution policy is correct

PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-ExecutionPolicy -list

                                                      Scope                                             ExecutionPolicy
                                                      -----                                             ---------------
                                              MachinePolicy                                                Unrestricted
                                                 UserPolicy                                                   Undefined
                                                    Process                                                   Undefined
                                                CurrentUser                                                   Undefined
                                               LocalMachine                                                RemoteSigned

Upon trying to rerun the setup, I have ran the following commands in order to start the critical services manually

Get-Service-namewinmgmt,remoteregistry,w3svc,iisadmin|set-service-startuptypeautomatic

Get-Service-namewinmgmt,remoteregistry,w3svc,iisadmin|Start-Service

No matter what I do, the Exchange 2013 CU2 installer seems to fail.  I'd appreciate any possible help with this.

Thanks,

Chris

Ive looked into all the permissions in AD the PS is running in elevated mode

The "inheritable permissions" is checked on all OU's and Objects involved in this migration.

I asked the Client to retire a 2003 Domain Controller that I thought was the culprit (Schema Mismatch errors).

the PS ran leading up to this error.

RBAC and OWA - Sorry! We're having trouble processing your request right now

Greetings

Exch 2010 installed on Svr 2008 R2 SP1.

This issue pertains to RBAC. I launch it in Exch Console and login ok. But when i click on an option once logged in OWA I get the message

"Sorry! We're having trouble processing your request right now. Please try again in a few minutes". see att

I have been researching this for some time. One blog noted the Evt-3 which also occurs. see att

Things noted in forums such as enabling anonymous authentication on ECP virtual directory and change the MSExchangeECPAppPool to .NET V2 have been done.

Exch and OWA uses one IP (0.13) and SSTP uses the other (0.14).

Our Exch server is exch.company.lan. OWA is accessible via our public domain name outlook.acme.com

We don't have a proxy but do have a smart host that messages go through to check for secure message subjects.

I did not configure a host header. We have a simple one multi-role server.

I think the issue has to do with bindings. see att

But info I have found on editing bindings in IIS 6 is sketchy at best.

Can anyone offer insight?

Thanks in advance.

Migrating from exc 2010/hosting to a new exc 2013 forest - GAL (global address list) search

Hi gyus,

I am in the middle of a migration from a different exc 2007 forest and exc 2010/hosting to a new exc 2013 forest. All settings are good and I've been migrating some accounts. The only thing that made me sad is about the GAL. Is it possible for the migrated users keep seen the GAL from the source domain during it? Or only in the end of the moves?

Regards
