Hi Guys,

Most probably I am going to deliver one project in nearest future, which included to move Mailboxes and mail data from Novel Group-wise to Exchange 2013. i want to know what should be the approach and what are the per-requisites that need to be consider to perform Migration steps in above scenario? please let me know how the mail-flow work to/from Group-wise to exchange 2013 and vice-verse. please suggest me some initial steps and URLs for this requirement. i want to be clarified logically before i suggest any solution on this to my customer.

step by step docs will be more helpful to achieve this goal..

Exchange 2013 and exchange 2007 mixed mode questions

I made my first attempt at migrating from 2007 to 2013 but ran into some problems. My 2013 CAS and MB servers are successfully installed along with their prerequisites (AD entries, external and internal DNS is active or ready to be, FW rules etc..). I'm at this point here in the Microsoft plan..

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/exdeploy2013/PrintChecklist?state=2284-W-CQCkAgIAQACACEEAAQAAAA~~

"Perform the switch over"

My questions are about behavior.

1. When I have everything setup correctly and DNS and the SCP's changed, the Webmail OWA site for all users will be the 2013 login interface, and after logging in will my 2007 users then see the 2007 OWA interface on my old CAS?, or will they access their 2007 MB using the 2013 interface?

2. There is a "backend imap4" service on my 2013 servers. We will still have some 2007 mapi connected MB clients. Do I need these services started to hand off 2007 mapi requests to the 2007 portion of the environment?

"Your request can't be completed" when trying to view a message on internal URL

I have two problems, but the second problem started when I tried to integrate an office web apps server with exchange 2013 so I am putting them into one post.

I have two Windows Server 2012 boxes, one with Exchange 2013 (both roles) one with only Office Web Apps Server 2013. Exchange 2013 was working perfectly internally and externally.

First issue - When I try and preview a document, I get the message "The WebReady Document Viewing service has been disabled by the administration for your organization. For more information, contact your helpdesk"."

I am not using https for this test setup (AllowHttp is True), and the http.../hosting/discovery URL works fine both internally and externally. I followed this guide to integrate Exchange with my Office WA server:

http://technet.microsoft.com/library/2591b1be-92c4-4192-9f5e-e4e6b319170a

Second issue - if I access Exchange OWA on the internal URL http://server/owa, when I click on a message the right pane says in red text "Your request can't be completed right now. Please try again later.

If I access the external URL (even from an internal computer, where DNS is setup to resolve to the internal IP address of the exchange CAS), everything works fine (except for the Webready Document viewing)

This second issue only started occurring when I tried to integrate office web apps, but even If I remove the WACDiscoveryEndPoint from the exchange OrganizationConfig the problem persists.

Any help appreciated.

Move public folders back to Exchange 2010 after migration to 2013

$

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday I migrated from Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4 to 2013 CU3. Ex 2010 has not been decommissioned yet.

Last thing I did during the migration process was moving public folders to Ex 2013.

Then I deleted PF database from Ex 2010. ...And then I realized that I have several clients running Outlook 2007/2010 on Windows XP.

Is there a way to move public folders back from 2013 to 2010 to allow access to public folders to those clients?

I think of creating new PF database on Ex 2010 and doing some powershell command to move PF from Ex 2013 to 2010.

But I don't know what commands I should use. New-MailboxMoveRequest ?

If moving PF back to Ex 2010 is possible then it could be faster for me to make PF available to XP clients than buying new hardware with newer Windows.

Any help would be appreciated.

Using Binary Tree for Domino 8.5.3 to Exchange 2013 extremely slow and getting error - Help

We are migrating from Domino 8.5.3 to Exchange 2013, the server is patched up to date, we have multiple conversions running. However, they are all running at an extremely slow pace, around 2 to 10 mbps. Been trying to troubleshoot, looked at the network, I don't think it is a network issue have tested, used tasmo, wireshark can't find anything. The error we see is Error: Set Props --MAPI reconnected 80040125 Attempting Retry. Does anyone have any idea how to troubleshoot from here?

Thank you very much.

Setup Failed "Authorization Manager Check failed in preparing Files"

We have found a consistent issue with upgrading from CU2 to CU3, so thought I would share.

Setup is failing on our Mailbox Servers (WS2012 with E2013 CU2 installed)

Setup will start and fail:

[ERROR] The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();

                    & $RoleBinPath\ServiceControl.ps1 EnableServices Critical

" was run: "AuthorizationManager check failed.".

[02/15/2014 14:26:03.0805] [1] [ERROR] AuthorizationManager check failed.

[02/15/2014 14:26:03.0805] [1] [ERROR] The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

To Resolve this issue

manually enable Windows Services (they will all now be disabled)

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin | set-service -startuptype Automatic -whatif

What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "IIS Admin Service (iisadmin)".
What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "Remote Registry (remoteregistry)".
What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3svc)".
What if: Performing operation "Set-Service" on Target "Windows Management Instrumentation (WinMgmt)".

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin | set-service -startuptype Automatic

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin | start-service

Get-Service -Name WinMgmt, remoteregistry, W3svc, iisadmin

Status Name DisplayName
------ ---- -----------
Running iisadmin IIS Admin Service
Running remoteregistry Remote Registry
Running W3svc World Wide Web Publishing Service
Running WinMgmt Windows Management Instrumentation

Now all 4 Services are running

Before attempting to re-run - Check the registry for Watermarks keys under

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\MidFileCopy.

Delete the two keys you find here.

THen - open Windows Powershell and run

for($i=1;$i-gt0;$i++) { Set-Service -Name WinMgmt -StartupType Automatic }

This keeps the relevant services running during setup.

Now - re run your Setup /M:Upgrade /iacceptexchangeserverlicenseterms

Hope this helps!

Failure installing SP3 on Exchange 2010

Good evening,

Following TechNet closely I'm currently in the process of moving my exchange 2010 environment to 2013. I have single exchange server on a SBS 2011 box. Sadly I've failed at the first hurdle installing SP3, the result is that my Exchange 2010 is refusing all client connections.

During the SP3 install I passed all prerequisites but during the actual upgrade it failed at the Hub Transport Role with the following error:

I've tried to re-register exppw.dll following instructions in the TechNet forums but this hasn't helped to restore functionality or complete the SP3 installation. Any guidance would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

upgrade and change domains

$

Way back, when we first installed Exch2000 on Win2000, we created a ‘resource’ AD domain for the mail servers to sit in because our users resided in multiple AD domains.

I now see no reason for the mail servers to reside in that domain

I am planning an upgrade from exch2007sp3 to exch2013 and I would like to eliminate this domain at the same time.

I plan to migrate the mailboxes to the new Exch2013 server. The user accounts will remain in their same domains.

Anyone see a problem with this?

Thanks

Environment. Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013

All mailboxes including arbitration mailboxes have been moved to Exchange 2013. No mailboxes exist any longer on Exchange 2007.

I am trying to use the steps here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx to move the public folders. I get stuck on step 5

Migrate Discovery Search Mailbox from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013?

$

We are close to finishing a migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013. All mailboxes, public folders and arbitration mailboxes have been moved and everything is running smooth and In-Place eDiscovery searches work fine. I’ve gathered some conflicting information regarding the Discovery Search Mailbox that still resides on the 2010 server (see screenshot below) so I’m hoping someone can provide some insight on what to do with it. In order to remove the 2010 database I will have to either move the Discovery Search Mailbox or remove it.

Numerous articles tell me to move it to the 2013 server using the New-MoveRequest DiscoverySearchMailbox* -TargetDatabase "DB2013"command. Another article tells me to leave it on the 2010 server and delete it from there since it’s a system mailbox for 2010.

The most confusing part is seeing that Exchange 2013’s Discovery Search Mailbox is named SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9} (as shown here- http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg588318%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx). This mailbox is listed and visible as an arbitration mailbox on our 2013 server right now when I run the Get-Mailbox arbitration command:

I understand that I won’t be able to remove the 2010 database with that mailbox still sitting there, but why should I migrate it, as a lot of sources are telling me to, when the 2013 search discovery mailbox is apparently in place and working? Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hi,

We have 2 DC's ,2 CAS server ( in Windows NLB) ,2 mailbox servers in DAG environment. as Directory Synchronization server is a mandatory equirement for hybrid deployment ... can we install it on one of the DC's or CAS server.

What are the steps to follow for this installation ?

As the directory sync server will sync all the users in onprem to O365 and viceversa ... will Microsoft charge for user sync in O365 ?

Thanks

Exchange 2003 Migration

Hi!

We need to migrate our Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 and then to Exchange 2013. We have created a Windows 2008 R2 VM for Exchange 2010. We need to know what kind of vhds we should assign to it for Exchange. Should we assign IDE or SCSI Controllers. The VM is located on the local hard disk of the hyper-v server and not on storage.

Secondly, what is the best document we can follow for Exchange 2003 to 2010 migration for a single server having 400 Users (2GB maximum mailbox size)

Thanks.

exchange 2010 to 2013 inter-forest migration

Hello,

I have the folowing configuration:
- client forest, single domain, AD 2008 R2, AXIGEN mail server
- cloud forest, two domains, AD 2008 R2, Exchange 2010 server
- trust (both ways) between the two forests and scripts that exports AD users & groups from client forest to cloud forest
This infrastructure was built to provide exchange services for specified users from clients organizations. Since the project wasn't extended as it was ment, to many clients, now we have to close the project and move the mailboxes of the last client in his own exchange server, in the client organization.
How can I do that without downtime ?

In addition to /owa I'd like to add /exchange since our uses were use to that in Exchange 2010.

I see that you can't add to the virtual directories in the Admin console. How can I add a second owa directory?
