Creating Mbx for Existing Users

$

0

Exit from email hosting service for 1500 users, to on-premise Ex2013.

AD already local and users all have accounts.

Have a CSV with all data for each user.

Anyone care to share their favorite PowerShell to bulk create mailboxes, plus will populate the GAL with:

FirstName, LastName, HomePhone, MobilePhone, Phone, Company, Title, Department, Office

...and add an archive DB to the mbx.

I have several variations i'm trying such as:

$mailbox=import-csv C:\<filename>.CSV
ForEach ($mailbox in $mailbox) {Enable-Mailbox -Identity $Mailbox.Identity -Database $Mailbox.Database | Enable-Mailbox –Archive -ArchiveDatabase "<enter archive db name here>"}<o:p></o:p>

However want to do this all in one pass if possible, so need to finetune the PS.

(Also had a look at http://www.telnetport25.com/2012/11/ebuctexchange-2013-bulk-user-creation-tool/ which looks quite cool, but only creates a blank mbx).

2007 to 2013 Mailbox migrations hang at 95%

We are in the process of migrating from 2007 to 2013. 2013 is installed with CU2, new mailboxes created on 2013 work fine, mail is routing between both servers, etc. The only issue we seem to be having is we can't migrate mailboxes from 2007 to 2013. We are testing migration with test email accounts with just a couple emails in them. We have several databases on the 2007 server and we've created several new ones on 2013, regardless of what database we try and migrate from and what database we try and migrate to we have the same problem. The status just sits at "Syncing" and when I use Exchange PS with the Get-MoveRequestStatistics on the mailbox it shows StatusDetail-Finalization and PercentComplete-95%. The Mailbox size is only 6k.

Installing Exchange 2013 Management Console on Windows 7

Hey all,

I am trying to install the Exchange 2013 management console on my Windows 7 64-bit workstation.

For some reason though it is saying that I am running a 32-bit OS, and will not install.  I have met the 3 requirements as per: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354.aspx#Windows7

I have no idea what is causing this, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I have looked online but have not been able to find any information about this anywhere.

Thanks

Exchange 2013 Remove-MailboxExportRequest error: Cannot process argument 'identity'

I have exported several mailboxes from Exchange 2013 to a PST file. Now I want to remove the export requests, since they have completed successfully. I tried

get-mailboxexportrequest | remove-mailboxexportrequest

and I get the following error:

Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'Identity'. Cannot convert value "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" to type
"Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.MailboxExportRequestIdParameter". Error: "This IdParameter cannot find an object of the specified type.
Parameter name: identity"
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidData: (uiu.uiu.edu/UIU-Users/UIU-Staff/WalkerA\:PSObject) [Remove-MailboxExportRequest], ParameterBindin...mationException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ParameterArgumentTransformationError,Remove-MailboxExportRequest
    + PSComputerName        : servername.domain.edu

So I run

Get-mailboxexportrequest

And I see that the name and Identity of the moves are empty, completely.

Using remove-mailboxexportrequest alias\mailboxexport0 doesn't work either.

Using remove-mailboxexportrequest with the requestGUID parameters doesn't work either.

How can I remove this request?

Exchange 2010 Connectors

Hello,

I am having an issue with send and receive connectors and I am not sure which side of the equation is causing it.  Current I have a setup of a CAS/Hub/Mailbox on one server and TMG/Edge on another server.  In the stages of planning a transition from TMG and the Edge to Sophos UTM.  Since I have the edge on the machine already I have the connectors that were setup for edge sync.  Though since my ISP blocks port 25, I am using DynDNS to route to a non standard port of 10025.  Everything works fine currently.  Though in the test that I set up for Sophos and Exchange I am getting bounced emails.  I setup an Internet connector with smtp * 100 and routing to smarthost outbound.mailhop.org with basic authentication.  I did this as this is what I had to do to edge sync to work.  Though I am wondering if that is correct.  When I check the SMTP log on Sophos I see the following:

I have been going over this on the Sophos forums, but they believe I  might have my connectors setup wrong, so I am checking that here.  If someone can give me some advice, it would be appreciated.

Exchange 2013 500 Errors for ECP and OWA (Fresh Install)

$

I started a coexistence upgrade from 2010 to 2013 a couple weeks ago, had 2013 CAS in front proxying OWA and web requests to 2010 and 2013 users alike, all running properly. Then "something" happened, not sure what, and suddenly all Exchange 2013 web requests to login to OWA or to ECP generate a 500 error on the server, no matter if I use localhost, IP address, or FQDN for the internal or external URLs.

Because this is production, I moved back to the 2010 CAS array as the primary and tried to tinker with 2013. Nothing would work, nothing would allow me to access mailboxes hosted on 2013, so I had to disable the mailboxes and re-enable them on 2010 (migration commands wouldn't even work to move them back to 2010). In the end I uninstalled all 2013 servers from my organization and checked ADSI Edit to ensure there weren't any pointers to the 2013 servers I installed.

Fast forward to this week, I wanted to try again, see if the uninstall of the servers fixed the issues. I built two new Windows Server 2012 servers (one CAS and one MBX) and accepted all default settings coming off of the CU2 installer (except one I chose the CAS role and one I chose the MBX role). Fresh install, no users running, I cannot get to the ECP or OWA once again, 500 error no matter what URL I use to access the servers. And proxying to a 2010 mailbox still fails as well.

I've checked out everything I can online, I've removed and re-added the Windows Identity Framework, I've recreated the OWA and ECP directories on CAS and MBX server, and I've run the get-serverhealth command against both servers for the OWA and ECP health sets without errors. Any ideas?

Environment: two Windows servers running AD services and the Hyper-V role, one Windows 2008 R2 SP1 with two virtual guests running Windows 2008 R2 SP1 servers with Exchange 2010 SP3 RU2 and one Windows 2012 with two virtual guests running Windows 2012 servers with Exchange 2013 CU2. Image

Configuring QueueGlitchRetryInterval in Exchange Server 2013 without Edge Transport Server?

We currently do not use an Edge transport server and are having trouble with greylisting mail-recipient-servers and emails not being delivered.

I am to modify a setting called QueueGlitchRetryInterval. But it seems the behaviour is managed in the Edge transport config-file but since we are not using edge transport this file is probably not even used???

How to solve this?

AD Attributes after Exchange 2003 uninstall

Hi,

i've a Customer that need to uninstall Exchange 2003 organization due to Google apps migration.

The question is : what's happen to the AD Attributes added to Schema by Exchange installation, like :

ProxyAddreses

MAIL

I Verify that i delete a mailbox from a user, the MAIL attribute, is deleted from user.

The Customer have few application (like CRM, JDe EnterpriseOne and so on) that use this attributes for Single sign On or many other purpose.

So the problem is how to maintain this attributes after the complete removing of Exchange 2003 Organization.

I think that an Export and import (after uninstall) is a possibile solution if the attribute are still availble on the schema.

Thanks

Marco

Hello,

I have a weird issue with connecting outlook to our Exchange 2013 Server, I have a authentications loop if I use the email address of @abcdtownship.on.ca, but if I use the second email address of abcd.ca it work fine from the outside of the network. From the inside of the network I have a authentication loop if I use the email address of @abcdtownship.on.ca, and also with abcd.ca, the only way I got it connected is if I use the email address of @abcd.office, the issue with this I have no MX record pointing for abcd.office.

I did the test from https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ everything pass from there with the email address of @abcdtownship.on.ca

What could be the problem?

Here my setup.

Inside domain is abcd.office with a 2008 R2 AD.

Our default email address is @abcdtownship.on.ca.  We are planning to move all our email to this address in future @abcd.ca.

My SSL SAN are these and they are from entrust
autodiscover.abcdtownship.on.ca
mail.abcdtownship.on.ca
autodiscover.abcd.ca
mail.abcd.ca

DNS are these
A record autodiscover.abcdtownship.on.ca pointing to 1.1.1.1
A record mail.abcdtownship.on.ca pointing to 1.1.1.1
A record autodiscover.abcd.ca pointing to 1.1.1.1
A record mail.abcd.ca pointing to 1.1.1.1
MX record abcdtownship.on.ca pointing to mail.abcdtownship.on.ca
MX record abcd.ca pointing to mail.abcd.ca

Hello,

In our exchange 2010 enviroment the Address list and Global address list aren't available in Outlook (2010 & 2013). When we work in Outlook in cached mode the address lists are available.

We don't have this problem on Exchange 2007. Also in OWA the address lists are available.

How can we solve this?

Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 SP3 update cannot find installation package exchangeserver.msi file on SBS 2011... NEED HELP!!!

Hello,

I am running a windows SBS 2011 standard system and there was currently an update for Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 Service Pack 3 and it keeps failing.  It says that it cannot find the installation package (exchangeserver.msi) and it is looking for it in E:\Software\Exchange2010-SP3-x64\ folder but there never was this folder.  There is only an Exchange2010-SP3-x64.exe file.

The only exchangeserver.msi file that I find on the server any where is in C:\ProgramFiles\Windows Small Business Server\Bin\CMPNENTS\EXCHANGE14_SP1 but it won't accept it (says not authorized for this update or something alike).

Please help.  It is currently causing issues with email.  Some of the features are not working because it says exchange is currently under maintenance.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Not able to move few mailboxes in Exchange 2013

Hi,

I have done Migration from Exch 2010 to Exchange 2013. All mailboxes have been successfully migrated. I have created three Databases and migrated all the MBs to these DBs and disabled the Default Databases. Today one user has reported an issue that he is not able to login to his Outlook, during troubleshooting i found that his MB is residing on the default database which is in dismounted state. Same is the issue with other two MBs. I though during migration may be i migrated these three MBs to the default databases.

Now when i am trying to move these MBs to the DAG Databases, i am able to generate request but request does not show any MBs and show request has been completed. See screenshot below..

Kindly help me understand what could be the issue...

User with multiple email addresses - how do I organise their inbox?

$

Hi,

Running a single Exchange 2010 server within a company with lots of subsidiaries.

A single user will sometimes need multiple email addressees, i.e. dave@company1.com dave@company2.com etc

I have got the server setup to accept the different domains emails to his single mailbox.

To keep things organised, I have created folders within the Inbox for the different companies, i.e.

Inbox
|---------Company1
|---------Company2

etc

The problem is that when a new email arrives in his inbox I am trying to get Outlook to move the email to a Company specific folder via a rule.

The rule I have setup is that: "when an email is addressed to dave@company1.com move the email to Company1 folder" and so on

This does not work though - it moves and copies the new email into each subfolder, regardless of who its addressed to! I think the reason for this is because the Outlook rule is getting mixed up with the Username from the Active Directory. i.e. Outlook knows that dave@company1.com's username is Dave.Jones and is simply treating the rule as any mail delivered to Dave.Jones should be moved to a folder (it does not seem to care what the email address is).

Is this what is happening?

Does any know of a work around or best practice for this scenario?

thanks

Trying to clear up 2003 so I can install 2013

Have two old 2003 exchange servers. 1 has been off for a long time.

I was able to uninstall Exchange 2003 from the first server after following the recommendations in this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905(EXCHG.80).aspx

However, I found that the public folder store was still on the server and would not let me remove the server from system manager.

I decided to manually yank these from AD via adsiedit and found this article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833396/en-us

I'm concerned that this isn't the best route as it looks like it expects me to reinstall 2003. Any advice?

pre-installation question

I have an existing exchange 2007 server, I want to install exchange 2013 onto a new server.  I have done the domain/forest prep and I am ready to do the installation.  But I am curious about which points during the installation of ex2013 will cause my existing ex2007 server to be offline/unavailable.  IE: If I do the install during normal working hours, will it bump everyone offline until the installation is completeand all of the configuring is done?

Configure internal and external URLs to be the same via Exchange Management Shell

Just downloaded Exchange 2013 trial and I'm following the TechNet article "Exchange 2013 Post-Installation Tasks" (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124397(v=exchg.150).aspx) step-by-step to the letter and ran into a brick wall at Step 5(b) -- Configure internal and external URLs to be the same. I was able to define the host name....

$HostName = "Ex2013CAS"

of my client access server, but when I tried to set the URL (both internal/external) for ECP Virtual Directory....

Set-EcpVirtualDirectory "$HostName\ECP (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl ((Get-EcpVirtualDirectory "$HostName\ECP (Default Web Site)").ExternalUrl)

I get this error:

"The operation couldn't be performed because object 'Ex2013CAS\ECP (Default Web Site)' couldn't be found on <my domain controller>
CategoryInfo: NotSpecified: (:) [Get-EcpVirtualDirectory], ManagementObjectNotFoundException
FullyQualifiedErrorId: 842B1240.Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.GetEcpVirtualDirectory
PSComputerName: <my Exchange 2013 server>

I skipped this and went on to the next one which sets my Web Services Virtual Directory, and the same message appeared, same thing with Active Sync, etc. all the way down the line.

So far configuration seems pretty straightforward even to a newcomer like me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this!

Public Folder migration necessary if not in use?

We're busy migrating a client to Exchange 2013, and I'm wondering whether I need to run any of the public folder migration tasks/scripts if the client is not using public folders at all?  Are there any System public folders that are still used in Exchange 2013 environments?

Thanks,

Hi,
I cant for the life of me seem to be able to get

dub Site  = 2 x collocated 2013
lon Site =  2 x collocated 2013
2 x DAGS

dub Users will have DAG1 with their active mailbox in dub and passive in lon
lon Users will have DAG2 with their active mailbox in lon and passive in dub

No matter what I do on spreadsheet I only ever see one DAG. Also I never seem to get the correct distribution diagram when I select
active/active multiple dags. If I select active/active single dag the distribution diagram looks good.?

No matter what I do only 1 dag is ever listed and the other has an cross line going through it.

Exchange 2013 - CU2 Install Fail - Error code is 1603

Error:
Unable to remove product with code 4934d1ea-be46-48b1-8847-f1af20e892c1. Fatal error during installation. Error code is 1603. Last error reported by the MSI package is 'Unable to install because a previous Interim Update for Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 1 has been installed.  Please use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the Interim Update before running this setup again.'.

The install hangs here after it has disabled a number of services. I have to go back in and re-enable the services to bring Exchange back online. However, smtp still does not respond devices other than itself.

1. How do I get SMTP back online with that server

2. How can I get CU2 installed. My understanding is that uninstalling CU1 means removing Exchange entirely which I do not want to do.

I have a 2 server environment with 2 databases and a single DAG.
